Please take a listen to and comment. I'm considering rerecording this in a cleaner environment as simplistic as I can with far more presence in the mix. I would like to develope this further so it becomes one of my songs on a cd. You're welcome to examine and assist me to making this an even better song...
Thanks You,
BOB

Bob, that's a good song, love that guitar. Lyrics kept my interest too.

Hey Bob:

I think this would be a great song on your CD. The lyric and melody are both fantastic....

I don't like perfect sounding guitar parts but this seemed a little ragged in spots. That can be fixed, if you choose to, when re-recorded. I'm listening on cheap speakers so I hesitate to comment on the mix but the guitar sounded a little muddy to me.

I love this song!

Very nicely done. The guitar has a crisp sound. If anything is a negative, it's that it is very much the same all the way through. Not much variation. I guess that's because there's not really a chorus. If you brought one of the verses up a third it might offer some variation.

Liked it a lot.

Bob,

Really nice, didn't notice any real guitar problems...vocal seems just a bit stiff, did you record the vocal and guitar at the same time?...really good feel overall kinda a jazzy folk song...

Tom, Mike, Rick, Scott and Louis,
Thank you for your words of wisdom. Yes, this is me as I stated. Two guitar parts thrown together quickly and I roughed the vocal as well in less than 20 minutes just to put it together. Now with your comments I can begin to fine tune what I feel is a very nice song. I may use the steel string instead of the classical guitar just to see if there is a difference. Wish me luck....AND, good luck to you all!!! Thank you very much...
BOB

Robert... Hey..I like the lyrics for the most part...additions to the song, maybe violins or some backing would help...I did notice a little stiffness in the vocal...but heck in 20 minutes that ain't no problem that can't be fixed...I still hear Gordon Lightfoot in your voice...the only real part that kinda bothered me was the Winter's calling lines...I don't know if was the chords there or what...not sure....maybe the way you did that part vocally...hope these comments are helpful...t-bob

Livimg where I do, this song is definately appropriate for the time and mood up here.
I agree with Bob, your voice does remind me of Gordon Lightfoot.
I have always been amazed with people that can make a song like that with guitar and voice.
I see your a Minnesotan to.
I bet you have heard of Leo Kottke.
I have heard a little of him, I can almost hear that influence.
But I hav'nt been as big a folk listener as I am going to be.

I really enjoyed the listen.

Matt

The line: "There's goes an otter", sounded like "there's goes anoter", (as if supposed to be "another").

Just wanted to bring that to your attention, for any options for that line you might want to try. (Unless I'm the only one to hear it weird).
Besides that, I like the song.

Smooth and easy to listen to.

Nice chord arrangement and guitar dynamics with the stops and starts.

Looking forward to hearing the finished version!

t-Bob, Matt, John and Accel.,,,
Thanks for your observations and great suggestions. The song is so nice I don't want to wreck it or overdo it either. Yes, I know about the lyric issue but like I said, It was one cut to preserve it in my computer so I wouldn't forget the inspiration of it. Now I have to redo based on all your comments..Thank you all..

Clint,
Thank you so much for the nice compliments...This is a works in progress but I myself really like the song because it's incredibly true to me. It's rough but as soon as I get some time I'll rerecord it....with all the suggestions I've received.

This song needs space! It's not easy to listen to because there are no breaks until you are way into the song. I'd suggest slowing it down! And taking some brief breaks earlier into the song. Good guitar work, it's just a little bit too intense for what I would think should be more a laid-back ballad.

I agree with most. I find that if you've got a complex rhythm for the melody, I'd rather not compete with it in the background and vice versa. Save the fancier guitar work for the spaces in the vocals. The guitar work in the intro and turn around is lovely, then I'd simplify when the singing starts.

Good lyrics. Nice song.

Mike

Duke and Mike,
Thank you for your comments and opinions. This is good! With all the ears that are hearing this song plus, all the wonderful comments they give me much to think about when I finalize the version I like the best. Yes, I know, I have the ability to actually do this song vocally and instrumentally with ease..All that's missing is a stick of gum...you know what I mean?
Thank you,
BOB
