2006 Just Plain Folks Best Lyric Award --------------------------------------------- I am including the Guidelines Here at the top of the first page for folks to refer to. Remember to include your full name on your Lyric Post. Do NOT number your post. We will do that for you. Also, only post 1 Lyric. IF YOU POST MORE THAN 1 LYRIC, ALL OF THEM WILL BE DELETED EXCEPT FOR THE FIRST ONE YOU POST!!! --------------------------------------- 2006 Lyric Award Guidelines: We are ready to launch the 2006 Best Lyric Award process on the website. If you want to enter, it is free, but you must be a member and registered on the JPFolks.com message boards and follow the guidelines posted there. Here are the rules we have set up.
You and your fellow members will do the screening for the nominations, but we've improved the process to make it easier for everyone. Last year we had 250+ entries, and it was tough for folks to read through all of them to vote on their 5 favorites. So this year, you'll only be asked to pick your 5 favorites out of 50 on 1 page (each page holds 50 lyrics, see last years entries to see what I am talking about). We will award 5 points for each first place vote down to 1 point for the 5th place vote. We'll then take the top songs from each page and then have a second round on the top 50 overall only so that the process is much easier and efficient and every song has an equal chance of being read and considered.
The entry/voting dates are as follows:
April 16th, 2006-May 31, 2006: This is the window to post your lyric. Each member can post 1 lyric in their name. If it is co-written by multiple members, it will only count against 1 member. (the one posting it.) We will need full names given for each writer. We will request full contact info for each nominee once they are announced. You can enter any lyric you wish, except for lyrics entered in 2002 or 2004.
June 10th-June 30th, 2006: We will have voting by actual members on their 5 favorite lyrics (in order) from an assigned page via email once the posting/entry deadline passes. Voting will be confidential. The end date may be adjusted if needed by us to complete the process. But we will give advanced notice if the date is changed. We will take the top 50 lyrics and place them on a final nomination page for final voting.
July 2006: We will post the final lyrics on one page in July and have open nomination voting to reach the final nominees. We will post the info on this stage when we are done tabulating and verifying all the votes. We will announce the nominations on the same day we announce the rest of the 2006 award nominees TBA.
Awards: We will announce the Lyric of the Year winner live in Los Angeles at our 2006 Music Awards.
Voting Requirement: Because we do the awards free, it's necessary to use our own community to help get the mass of lyrics to the nominations stage. Instead of charging you 30 dollars to enter like a lot of "contests", we are requiring your direct participation in the peer review judging process. To make it easy, we have a system to do this which shouldn't require more than an hour or two of your time.
After the deadline has come for entering lyrics, we will email each participant a page to vote on. Each page holds 50 Lyrics. You will choose your 5 favorite in order from 1st to 5th and email your votes to the assigned email address. (Complete instructions will be sent to all participants). When you vote, you will automatically receive 6 points (A first place vote gets you 5 points, so this is 1 better) towards your own lyric. If you choose not to vote, then you can still participate, but you're 6 points in the hole to all those who do. Because you won't be able to vote on your own "page" there are no conflicts in voting for your own lyric in Round 1. We will not allow those who move on to round 2 to vote any further in the process.
If we missed something, or you have questions, please email us here. --------------------------------------- Instructions on how to post your lyric:
If you are new to these message boards, the way you post a new lyric is to click the button on the top right of the screen that says "Post Reply." Then you should PASTE your lyric into the box. We suggest you type it OFF LINE first, in case you have a problem posting, we don't want you to have to re-type all that text again. Use the Copy/Paste function on your computer to do this.
Once you have pasted all the text (which should include full title of the lyric, the full name of all the writers and the copyright date) click on the "Submit Reply" button at the bottom of the page.
If you need to edit your lyric, you are welcome to do so. You click the icon above the post with the Pencil and Paper. This will open your post so you can delete text, add text etc... You can't completely delete your entire post, you can only remove the text from it. If you need your lyric entry deleted (i.e. you aren't going to enter any lyric) then contact a moderator for their assistance.
Remember, you must be registered to post your lyric entry. This is completely separate from being a Just Plain Folks member and getting the newsletter. To register here, simply click the link on the top right that says "register" and follow the instructions. You will choose your own username and a password will be emailed to the email address you supply. Be sure to remember to type in both your user name and password CASE SENSITIVE or it won't work.
If you've previously registered, but can't remember you password or user name, you can have it emailed to you by clicking the link that says "forgot password?" in the preferences section (under the link that says "profile.")
If you have additional questions about any of this process, please post them here on the Post Marked "2006 Lyric Award Guidelines and Discussion" and someone will answer it for you usually the same day. ----------------------------------- So.. here we go again folks! Good luck to everyone!
Brian

AS IT WAS ENDING (c) 2005 Brian Franklin
I was hanging around To see what would happen With a coin in the slot And a ticket for the raffle Didn't see a thing A lone, lousy witness To the world as it was ending
Bullet, butterfly, dragonfly landing In a field near the desert My head was pounding I turned my eyes away I would not be spending With the world as it was ending With the world as it was ending
You see a rush to judgement I see history repeating You see progress in peril I see faith is deceiving You see a modern hero I see a widow weeping With the world as it was ending And I'll play my guitar 'Til her baby is sleeping With the world as it is ending

Falling In by Jake Armerding © 2006 Joekline Music, BMI
In a deep, dark pub in the back of London I fell in love and I lost my cool With a beer in hand and the jukebox humming A little Liverpool, a little Liverpool
We all went out on a Thursday evening And I just tried to be myself But the drinks got poured and the talk got flowing And I was someone else, I was someone else
Hey, could you make up your heart 'Cause I’d like to begin Love is spreading her arms And I’m falling in
Her cheeks were red and her hair was crimson Her eyes would laugh and her mouth would smile And I washed in her like a river Jordan For a little while, just a little while
My heart was young with an old demeanor My heart was grey and my heart was bored But you never know it until you’ve seen her What you’re looking for, what you're looking for
Hey, could you make up your heart 'Cause I'd like to begin Love is spreading her arms And I'm falling in
She’s the patch of grass underneath my snowfall In my iron sky she’s a streak of blue She’s the toes of the trees underneath my sidewalk And she’s breaking through Yeah you’re breaking through

Hundred And Two © 2006 by rittman [Richard Blum]
I turned a hundred and two today And when I looked around the room I didn't recognize any of you
No familiar smiles, low cut dresses All of your prettiness, flair Gone, gone, into thin air
Arms that said take me now Legs that never seemed to end A million colors of which to blend
Anyway I wanted Anytime I felt the need Grazing through your meadows My happiness to feed
I turned a hundred and two today And when I looked around the room I didn't recognize any of you
The high school cafeteria The college dorm The park on a sunday morn
If I could take a lap around that track again The reservoir of my youth Would there be anything that resembled the truth
The after midnight clubs A mirrored ball Not one reflection, do I recall
I turned a hundred and two today And when I looked around the room I didn't recognize any of you
Braided hair, long flowing curls Forgotten pieces from another world So many lost years, so many girls
So much anticipation, trepidation So important at the time Yesterdays papers, soiled headlines
An era of lies and fantasies Panties replaced by girdles The starting block, fallen hurdles
I turned a hundred and two today And when I looked around the room I didn't recognize any of you
No tournaments, championships Tattered ornaments Oh what the hell, one last champagne sip
Anyway I wanted Anytime I felt the need Grazing through your meadows My happiness to feed

KA-BLAM! Lyrics by: Cindy LaRosa (aka Cindy Lucas) Copyright 2005
Verse 1: Momma's curtain was my cape Sunday morning, six years old Daddy was there to help me fly Like my favorite comic book heroes And when he held me over his head I thought that I could touch the sky He was the strongest man that ever lived And still is in my eyes
CHORUS: It was POW! KA-BLAM! Just like an episode of Batman And my heart went OOMPH! SHAZAM! I felt like Captain America, Hulk & Superman He helped to make me everything I am And whenever his love lifted me it was POW! KA-BLAM!
Verse 2: The years moved on and I grew up My life forever changed I found the girl who rocked my world And wanted her to share my name And when I asked her for her hand She said she'd be my wife That kiss hit me like Mighty Thor's hammer! The greatest feeling of my life
CHORUS 2: It was POW! KA-BLAM! Just like an episode of Batman And my heart went OOMPH! SHAZAM! I felt like Captain America, Hulk & Superman I gave her forever with that golden band Cause from the moment her love lifted me it was POW! KA-BLAM!
Verse 3: Now here we are still so in love Some years down the road Life's been good and now we have A little girl of our own And when she comes to me with a broken toy And says, "Daddy I know YOU can fix this" I know just how my father felt When she says, "You're the best" and gives me that kiss
CHORUS 3: POW! KA-BLAM! Just like an episode of Batman And my heart goes OOMPH! SHAZAM! I KNOW I'm Captain America, Hulk & Superman And I pray she'll always stay my biggest fan Cause every moment her love lifts me is like POW! KA-BLAM!
Yeah, every moment their love lifts me And every moment that they're with me it's like POW! KA-BLAM! POW! KA-BLAM!

Runnin' By Doug Allison (C) Copyright 2001 by D.A. All Rights Reserved.
<Verse 1> Runnin’ at a touch Runnin’ in the mall Runnin’ tossin' and turnin’ long after night fall Runnin’ when you need vulnerability Runnin’ when right is responsibility
<Chorus> Ya I’m runnin’ But the road leads back to me
<Verse 2> Runnin’ to a lover Runnin’ to a bar Or simply doing nothing most insidious by far Wanna be happy Connected with life But sharin' what I'm feelin' - huh ya right...
<Chorus>
<Bridge> Like grains of sand Honesty slips right through our hands Maybe hopes and dreams confuse the truth Or maybe pain For many long years life sticks in our brains Easier to avoid Than struggle to let it go Let it go…
<Verse 3> Runnin’, runnin’, runnin’ Runnin’ for my life No matter what it does No matter the strife Should look deep Could stand and fight But runnin’ is a seduction, a lie that seems right
<Chorus x 2>

To All Our Dreams (c)2004, Linda Anthony
Going ocean miles away filling lives and love today set a course no storm can sway our lovers vessel clears Sunrise Bay
We toast to where we're bound quenching love we two have found fading shore in our background as we sail on past Island Sound
You're my captain sail me to sea knowing hands steering me glide us onward smooth and free feels like we're floating in ecstasy sunlit water playful breeze feeding our sails to all our dreams
We pray our voyage never ends joyful spirits our hearts ascend peaceful lovers, best of friends senses unvieling, what we pretend
Looking from our bedroom window laying in bed there just below ocean beyond, we'll someday go make love a legend for all to know
You're my captain sail me to sea knowing hands you're steering me sunlit water playful breeze feeding our sails feeding our sails feeding our sails to all our dreams.

I waited ©, 1995 Alex Wolfe Parnes/Canis Lupus Productions
Verse 1 I poured out my soul in the palms of your hands, my love was so true And I contemplated your fingers as I watched it leak through I drank from what I thought was the well of your passion…so intoxicating My naiveté aside I swore I felt my passion reciprocated
Chorus 1 But you never did come I’d wait for the Sun to rise
Verse 2 For the first time in my life I felt things only poets romanticized I decided right there I would wait for you until the end of all time I saw everything that exists in the universe in your eyes Together we both could provide all our needs in our life I’d chase down the most distant quasar and wrap it up for you I’d stop time and space at he edge of eternity if you’d only follow me through
Chorus 2 But you never did come I’d wait for the Sun to rise I stood out there alone But you never did show
Bridge I let go of your hand and I just kept on walking I didn’t look back I can still hear you talking I’ll never deny you were my truest love ever But our dreams just kept on diverging forever I’d dream those dreams of you and me everyday Then I’d open my eyes, turn around, and walk away
Chorus 2

MOMMA, I'M A COWBOY
Words & Music By: Rick Devin, Buffalo Peak Publishing Co. © 2000/2006 ASCAP
Riding the range in my backyard; 'Dinner's soon, so don't go far'. Broom stick horses, toy tin gun; Bad outlaws on the run. Cowboy hats, my buddies and me; Western dreams, riding free. Look, Momma, I'm a cowboy. Look, Momma, I'm a cowboy.
Eastern schools, nice young man; City job, 'Yes you can'. Tailored suits, nice new car; 'Work real hard, you will go far. Buy a house or save your money; Now this cowboy thing, just ain't funny'. But, Momma, I'm a cowboy. But, Momma, I'm a cowboy.
I know you want the best for me, I just wish you could see, I'm a cowboy.
<Instrumental>
Western land, canyons of red; Star filled skies tuck me to bed. Traveling up these mountain trails; Where horse and man seldom fail. Driving cattle, singing a song; Riding night guard all night long. Jingling spurs, campfire guitar; Smell of coffee from afar. Stetson hats, pickup truck; Been to town, broke my heart. Life long friends, children's pride; For my own brand I ride. Momma, please don't tan my hide; guess I've been countrified. Yeah, Momma, I'm a cowboy. Yeah, Momma, I'm a cowboy. Yeah, Momma, I'm a cowboy. Look, Momma, I'm a cowboy.

Cowboys & Indian Philosophy Steven Barkhimer/ c2001, Wandering Bark Music/BMI
Things were getting too complex The money, the job, the car, the sex And general ugliness everywhere I looked
So late one night as is my wont I got two sixpacks right up front And determined to seek my solace in a book
So I took off my pants and set up camp Right by my high intensity lamp Perused the shelves to see if aught appealed
Sat down on the floor with some day-old pita Cracked open the bhagavad gita And there stood arjuna looking at the battlefield
He saw his family all arrayed Against him with their weapons displayed To be or not to be, it was time to choose
He thought, Time and Fate make me go up Against everybody who helped me grow up If I lose I lose, and if I win, I still lose
He thought, I ain’t gonna do this [naughty word removed] Ain’t no good’s gonna come of it I’ll be damned if I’m going out to fight
Perhaps the time is out of joint But frankly I don’t see the point And I’m not gonna be the one to set it right
So at the risk of being thought afraid He sat griefstricken in the shade Of his parasol overcome with pity
Threw down his bow and spear When Krishna, his loving charioteer Saw his despair and mocked him with a ditty
He said, what was all that training for If finally there comes a war And you succumb to sentimental grieving?
Your foes all watch as you shrink from Your duty now that the hour’s come You don’t think of the legacy you’re leaving
And arjuna said, With all respect I conscientiously object To killing my friends and family who were kind
I just don’t see much reward In slaughtering people I adored Along with my cousin and an uncle who is blind
And Krishna scoffed, This is distraction That makes you lose the name of action Your impotent despair makes you a quitter
It should be no surprise that now You slay the ones who showed you how Cast off your fear, lift up your eyes, consider:
He who thinks he kills And he who thinks he is killed Both of them are mistaken That which is will never not be That which is not will never not not be I am the Lord Take up my sword Go forth and do your duty
Well, the text was getting rather dense But it all seemed to make great sense And was extremely beautiful to boot
I swear my head began to hum True, the beers had helped me some But I sensed a certain calmness taking root
So I closed the book and I killed the light And I murdered sleep, I stayed up all night Surrounded by a new-found truth and beauty
Decided to leave my job and wife Start out on a brand-new life Take up a sword, go forth and do my duty
So in the morning I pulled up to the light I really needed to hang a right There was a car there, I just pulled out in front
The guy started to beep and yelled, Hey wait, And I said, These are Massachusettes plates I drive any mother****in way I want
I could see I’d thrown him for a loop As he climbed red-faced from his coupe Determined to see just how far I would carry it
He started to swear and spit and kick Yelled, Get outta the car, you prick But I refused to dismount my royal chariot
I just smiled, rolled down, said: He who thinks he kills And he who thinks he is killed Both of them are mistaken Dig it
I said, If you wanna see old age And not be a victim of road rage Here’s my advice, I said and I flashed my gun
I said, If you wanna live another minute There’s your car, just get the **** in it And I shot him once in the ankle just for fun
Well, the bullet seemed to calm him some And I figured soon somebody’d come And he’d been in the hands of a capable officer
So I drove off and in my heart I knew I’d made a pretty good start On my new life as warrior and philosopher

CLOSE YOUR EYES july 2005 michael palazzolo
Close to where the barbed wire bares a sharp and steely grin Sweetgrass whispers softly to the wind It’s always been much greener, still every now and then I’d like to jump the fence and wander in
I’ve watched it grow untended, I’ve watched it growing wild I’ve watched the reaper time and time again Proudly sweep his rusty blade and lay those grasses down Past the barbed wire that would keep my wandering in
Close your eyes… listen to the wind Close your eyes… dream your dream again
Today I heard a story of the sweetgrass and the wind And a young boy they remember as a friend The reaper found him playing in the middle of his field They never saw the young boy there again
It reminded me of how I used to race across a field To catch a cloud and sail across the sea And listen to the sweetgrass whisper secrets to the wind Then pretend the wind would carry them to me
The shadow from the reaper’s blade grows longer every day The wind is cold, the grass is growing thin It used to be much taller, still every now and then I like to jump the fence and wander in
Close your eyes…listen to the wind Close your eyes…dream your dream again Close your eyes…listen to the wind Close your eyes…welcome home, my friend

THIS BLUE BEFORE by Charles Jackson Smith, copyright 2006
Life is hard and then you die Love is hard and then you cry That’s the way the story goes That’s a song the whole world knows Can’t remember where I heard Love is such a lonesome word I never felt This Blue Before
When you suddenly find that you’ve lost the thread You be trying it once again from the top But the woof and the warp of the weave don’t mesh And whatever the hell you do it always comes out stop The things that you’ve been trying to forgive and forget Get all tumbled up and tied in a knot And the more that you keep workin it the worse it seems to get Nothing is forgiven and nothing is forgot
Life is hard and then you die Love is hard and then you cry That’s the way the story goes That’s a song the whole world knows Can’t remember where I heard Love is such a lonesome word I never felt This Blue Before
Alternating victims, you’re the master of the word game Obsessionist collector hiding a broken heart To protect your innocence you try to pull a name change But a look behind the mask is where it’ll have to start Tears, fears, jeers, cheers, Puzzling the peace you take a defensive stance You know you can’t go home again, you roam again alone again An adolescent dreamer caught in a real romance
Life is hard and then you die Love is hard and then you cry That’s the way the story goes That’s a song the whole world knows Can’t remember where I heard Love is such a lonesome word I never felt This Blue Before

Whiskey Wild Bayou Child ©2004 Michael Thomas Ellis
It’s nine oclock, Friday night, down at the Wild Bayou Everybody looks for her, like always, right on cue Been that way for months on now, every single week She walks right in, sits right down, not a word to speak She takes her whiskey sittin' down, down by the exit sign Same place that she always sits, same table every time Two for her, and two for him, but he’s not waitin’ there She's way too young to drink alone, but life ain’t always fair Whiskey Wild Bayou child Raven hair and sad sad eyes Why do you sit there all alone In that corner out of sight Whiskey Wild Bayou child Where is your man tonight She lines those double shooters up, sips ‘em til they’re gone Fidgets with her diamond ring, and sways to each new song Coming from the jukebox, until the clock strikes ten Stands up slow, walks on by, and drops a quarter in Then she moves out to the dance floor and wraps her arms around Her shoulders as she dances to that same old lonesome sound A song about a well-loved man who won’t be coming home And a woman who still waits for him, who never will let go Whiskey Wild Bayou child Raven hair and sad sad eyes Why do you come here all alone Every Friday night Whiskey Wild Bayou child Where is your man tonight (musical bridge) Whiskey Wild Bayou child Raven hair and sad sad eyes Why do you come here all alone Every Friday night Whiskey Wild Bayou child Where is your man tonight Whiskey Wild Bayou child Where is your man Where is your man Where is your man tonight

BELOW THE WATERLINE Lyrics by David McAdams, c 2006
HURRICANE KATRINA HIT THE COAST RAINS POURED DOWN AS THE LEVEE BROKE THE POOR UNABLE TO LEAVE THE SCENE THEY’RE BELOW THE WATERLINE DOWN IN NEW ORLEANS
UP TO THE ROOF THEY TRIED TO ESCAPE NO HELP IN SIGHT AND FORCED TO WAIT STRANDED WITHOUT ANY WATER THAT’S CLEAN THEYRE BELOW THE WATERLINE DOWN IN NEW ORLEANS
MOST OF THEM HAVE LOST THEIR HOMES LIKE CATTLE THEY’RE CORRALED INTO THE DOME LEFT FORGOTTEN LIKE SOME BAD DREAM THEYRE BELOW THE WATERLINE DOWN IN NEW ORLEANS
DISASTER STRIKES OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS THE WHITE HOUSE WAS LOOKING FOR SOME PHOTO OPTS WHILE THE POOR WERE CAUGHT IN BETWEEN THEY’RE BELOW THE WATER LINE DOWN IN NEW ORLEANS
THIS GOVERNMENT KEEPS ITSELF FAR AWAY FROM THE VERY PEOPLE IT PLEDGED TO OBEY MAKING PROMISES THAT WILL NEVER BE SEEN STILL BELOW THE WATERLINE DOWN IN NEW ORLEANS
THE PRESIDENT FLEW DOWN THERE PROMISED TO REBUILD WHEN THE FLOODING CLEARS BUT NO WATER EVER TOUCHED HIS JEANS THEY’RE BELOW THE WATER LINE DOWN IN NEW ORLEANS THE RICH WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND WHY THE POOR LIVE ON THE LOWEST LANDS AND CAN’T RISE ABOVE THEIR MEANS THEYRE BELOW THE WATERLINE DOWN IN NEW ORLEANS
THIS WAS A CHANCE FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO SHOW THAT THE POOR GET THE SAME TREATMENT AND POLITICIANS AREN’T JUST BLOWIN STEAM THEY’RE BELOW THE WATER LINE DOWN IN NEW ORLEANS

She used to gaze upon the clouds, But now she plays no more. Afraid of what might come from there; She's learned the word of "war." She's spending her childhood in a daze, Wondering if she'll make it through the maze.
What of the Children of the World? What of the Children of the World?
What of the Children of the World? What of the Children of the World?
He used to run out with his friends, But now he's stuck inside A small dark room; he's so alone With no place left to hide. Will he live to see another day? Why do we have to live this way?
Tell me, when will this end? Hear me and the message I now send. Does it matter who is wrong and who is right When you are caught between the darkness and the light? Why are we so far from your mind? We are the tomorrow of mankind!
How can we give them a future full of dreams yet to be When all around us death and destruction we see?
What of the Children of the World? What of the Children of the World?

My Friend Mia By. Steven McLachlan, Copyright © 2006.
I've got a friend, she comes to see me almost everyday. She's kinda bad though & makes me play games, I shouldn't play.
She’s in my head now & she likes it there, she’s made herself at home. She likes to hide, she only comes alive when I’m alone.
Late night trips to porcelain town. The water’s clear but it soon turns to brown. Darkened rooms conceal the pain. I’m cleaning up after her reign.
My friend Mia, she’s taken over me. My eyes are all hazy & I cannot see. My friend Mia, she’s not beautiful. She’ll try so hard but doesn’t get results. My friend Mia, she’s acid & she’s gross. She’s got my life within her & I’m heaped upon the floor.
I’ve got feeling, Mia will be leaving me someday. She’s getting stronger though & she is deeper in my brain.
I’m so consumed now, it isn’t love I feel for her & she’s hurting me. She likes to hurt me & thinks it’s fun to see me cry.
I’m looking down & I see no light. Just a glistening sight, that frightens me. I’m holding on to her very tight & I feel no love. Just a tortured soul trying to be free.

Title: Shadows and Light c.2004 Susan R. Jones
Verse1: What does the sunset look like from the other side? Do you stroll streets of gold? How many stars are lit on starry, summer nights? Are you free from growing old?
Chorus: Oh, I miss you. I think of what we shared and really miss you. I wish you were here, but I'm reminded These are shadows, it's you who sees the light.
Verse 2: So, what's it like to welcome new arrivals home? Are reunions first rate? I bet parades up there are something to behold And everyday's a holiday.
Repeat chorus
Bridge: I guess it's human nature to believe you're missing out When something happens here I want to share. If I really put my mind to it, I know there's no doubt-- You see it clearer and someday we will share
Verse 3: A glowing sunset looking from the other side As we stroll those streets of gold. We'll name and number every star on starry nights From a land where none grow old.
Repeat Chorus ['til then I'll miss you...]
Wrap: So, what's the sunset look like from the other side?

"Until We're Together Again" © 2006 Katherine J. Cochran
(v 1.) Some believe..... A star shining brightly in the Heavens Represents the love of someone they can't see Others feel..... The butterfly dancing in their garden Is a symbol of a Spirit flying free
But when a gentle breeze caresses your hair Or you see an eagle soaring high in the air Should you smile and remember me in a prayer I'll be standing beside you. I will always be there.
(chorus) There's no need to say goodbye One day we'll be together Remember me and smile I'm in your heart forever And will feel the love you send ..... Until we're together again
(v 2.) Close your eyes..... You'll find me sailing in the Sunset Riding waves of bluest oceans ever seen I'm holding hands..... Of all the others here before me With my head upheld to hear the Angels sing
I can do all the things I've only dreamed of And I will be watching over you from above You don't need to worry about me because I brought my most treasured possession....(your love)
(chorus) There's no need to say goodbye One day we'll be together Remember me and smile I'm in your heart forever And will feel the love you send ..... Until we're together again
(bridge) It doesn't matter where you are I can send my love through any shining star I'm like the butterfly flying free Ascending through the sky peacefully
(chorus) There's no need to say goodbye One day we'll be together So remember me and smile Oh I, I'm in your heart forever And will feel the love you send ..... Until we're together again
One day I'll see you again.

HIGH WIRE (c) 2006, Doug Kolmar
<v.1> Starin' at the High Wire In the media circus the Lion Tamer's gone
They found the people liked it better on the days the lion won
Despite the gruesome spectacle I'm rooted to my seat The lion tamer is our hero if posthumously.
<ch 1> Though we never really noticed him he was a man of men we'll come back to the circus now it might happen again.
<v.2> Starin' at the high wire In the media Circus The clowns are in control
Creating a distraction So the illusion remains whole.
Even as a little child Clowns gave me the creeps Their frantic, antic, leering smiles Haunt me in my sleep
<ch 2> We wonder what the truth is but do we really care what matters is what saves your butt When you're on the air
<bridge> In the air... am I floating am I falling? In the air...I let go the trapeze In the air...I see your hands and hear you calling In the air...I look down and I freeze
<v 3> Starin at the high wire In the media circus The drumroll has begun
The spotlight searches its next victim Now I am the one
Despite the quaking of my knees bravely I ascend The demon drummer beats the time to my untimely end.
<pre-ch 3> The lion tamer is my hero I'm going to meet him soon If I make it there will it let the air Out of everyone's balloon?
<ch 3> We wonder what the truth is but do we really care We'll settle for an answer with consequences we can bear
Repeat bridge, end.

WASTED Lyrics by Adele Wilding, c. 2005 Blue Dawn Music/MCPS
RULES AND PRINCIPLES RENDERED INVINCIBLE MISSIONS FOR POLICIES IN TRUMPED UP IDEOLOGIES
EVERY ORGANISATION WILL MOULD THE INDIVIDUAL HOLD EACH ONE ACCOUNTABLE MAKE EACH ONE EXPENDABLE
THIS IS THE NEW AGE THE BIRTH OF RED RAGE CONFORMITY MONOTONY
WE ARE ALL AGENTS OF BUREAUCRACY SAY, WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO AUTONOMY?
I FEEL SO...
WASTED (DON'T IT MAKE YA FEEL) WASTED WHEN I LOOK UP WHAT DO I SEE? IT'S THEM...AGAINST YOU AND ME AND THE HIGH AND MIGHTY KEEP LOOKING DOWN…
I-WAYS ON COMPUTERS DIGITAL ON COMMUTERS IN A RACE FOR BORROWED TIME LIVING LIFE IN A BRAND NEW PRIME
LENDERS AND CREDITORS SHARKS AND PREDATORS HAIL THE NEW PANDEMONIUM HAIL THE NEW MILLENNIUM
WE ARE THE INNOCENT PARTICIPANTS IN OBJECTIVITY IMPERSONALITY AND SO WE COMPROMISE WE JEOPARDISE AND PLACE OUR MINDS IN CAPTIVITY
I FEEL SO...
WASTED (DON'T IT MAKE YA FEEL) WASTED WHEN I LOOK UP WHAT DO I SEE? IT'S THEM...AGAINST YOU AND ME AND THE HIGH AND MIGHTY KEEP LOOKING DOWN…
REHABILITATE REJUVENATE DETOXICATE IT'S NOT TOO LATE...
I FEEL SO...
WASTED (DON'T IT MAKE YA FEEL) WASTED I FEEL SO WASTED (EVERYBODY FEELS) WASTED
WHEN I LOOK UP WHAT DO I SEE? IT'S THEM...AGAINST YOU AND ME AND THE HIGH AND MIGHTY KEEP LOOKING DOWN…
AND THE HIGH AND MIGHTY KEEP LOOKING DOWN AND SEE RED...

THE MAN WITH THE CAN
It's seven o'clock in the morning He has to go to work like a man A horn outside is blowing, so he reaches for a can He has cold one on the way to work And a cold one on the way home again It's his working man lifestyle They call him the man with the can
He's got a cold beer in his belly And another one in his hand He can face this big bad world As long as he's got a can Saturday morning he starts his John Deere And he gazes out over the land But before he mows that grass He has to pop a top on a can
With a can in his hand He knows he's a man With a can in his hand He'll make his last stand He has himself a cold one Then he has him a cold one again It's his working man lifestyle They call him the man with the can
The sun has gone down and she's waiting She's waiting for her loving man But before he turns that light off He has to finish off a can

This Lyric is #023 THE SOUTHERN CROSS Copyright j. poet 2005
Someone knocked on the iron door, In the desperate midnight hour, In a blood stained uniform, Holding brown and wilted flowers. His face was bruised and battered, His body had grown soft, He had a limp, his head was bowed, They’d shaved his goatee off. His eyes were filled with the visions of The friends he’d loved and lost, And all the torments he’d endured, Beneath the Southern Cross.
Lost in sorrow, lost in pain Beaten down by sun and rain Cold and lonely, tempest tossed Beneath the bloody Southern Cross.
Standing numb on the cold platform Waiting for the mystery train Surrounded by the phantoms of The dead of foreign lands They’re crying out in agony For their children and their wives Who have no food, no love, no beds No comfort in their lives They struggled hard for every crumb Now everything is lost Abandoned by both God and man, Beneath the Southern Cross.
Cursing hatred, cursing love, Kill the eagle, slay the dove Roads are slick with killing frost. Beneath that freezing Southern Cross.
Vigilantes prowl the night, Corporations rule the day, Tempers flair when money’s short And then there’s hell to pay Homeless men with eyes on fire, Shattering the empty air, Cursing gods and goddesses And things that are not there Afraid of freedom, dreaming of The coming holocaust Hopeless on that lost highway Beneath the Southern Cross.
Pray for love and pray for peace Pray that one day war will cease Pray for all the friends we’ve lost Beneath the heartless Southern Cross.
Pray for love and pray for peace Pray that one day war will cease Pray for all the friends we’ve lost Beneath the burning Southern Cross.

Friday the Thirteenth Before Valentine’s ©2005 New Cool Now Music, written by Steven Wesley Guiles
verse 1 It’s Friday the thirteenth, baby, Just before Valentine’s I’ve been hoping I could find a Hallmark card Or a bottle of some decent white wine
I’m not exactly sure where we’re gonna end up I really hope it’s got a panoramic view With my luck they’ll be playing pretty love songs Instead of violins they’ll play it on kazoo
verse 2 You’ve always said that you liked me That you don’t need no billionaire You said, “Baby don’t change a single thing” “I like your smile and the way you style your hair”
With that in mind I rushed downtown to Walmart But then a black cat darted past my car I didn’t think much of it, I’m not superstitious But when you see my clothes you’ll think I’ve gone too far
pre-chours C’mon c’mon baby, I don’t think it’s maybe with you C’mon c’mon baby, I can’t be unlucky with you
chorus On Valentine’s Day it will be the same As any Saturday I’m in love with you And the Friday before don’t mean too much On the 13th day I will be with you...just like any day
verse 3 The day before planning, baby That’s the stuff that kills you The broken mirrors and the seven years bad luck Can’t hold a candle to this thing that I screwed up
It’s Friday the thirteenth, baby Just before Valentine’s I got my hair cut so I’d look real nice for dinner But I left Super Cut’s like Frankenstein
pre-chorus C’mon c’mon baby, I don’t think it’s maybe with you C’mon c’mon baby, I can’t be unlucky with you
bridge I know that I’m not in some race Or playing games like on Melrose Place I know that you won’t play the part Of some twisted chick who breaks my heart
final chorus On Valentine’s Day it will be the same As any Saturday I’m in love with you And the Friday before don’t mean too much On the 13th day I will be with you...just like any day
end verse It’s Saturday and we made it through the thirteenth I’m badly dressed and my hair’s a mess But we’ll be going out laughing all the while Truth of the matter is you could care less

"Lost" by Alan Hague. (c)2006
You took the wind out of my sails like sunset takes the day – Abruptly end my travels. Suddenly, I’ve lost the way. Adrift in scarlet, star-lit ocean, going nowhere. The sun is going down? I feel like I’m already there. Nothing like the promise empty bottles can’t fill. I built a sunken ship inside, full-throttle with my will. I think I’ll put a cork in it to keep the water out, But the waves will break it and will make my compass point south.
No, I can’t see green, ‘cos I’m too far off from the shore. My vision doesn’t matter – dark- I don’t want to see more. I cut and bled from stepping on the shells of past life. I skipped a stone: the third bounce, turned ‘round, broke my searchlight. Now, the fog comes rolling in, worse than ever before; You made this mist delirious with every kiss of yours. The cloud on which I used to float’s now filled with acid rain. The worst thing about the ocean’s that the bottom has no drain.
If I should never see you on the darkened waves, Then I will see it through to never greet the day.
Her eyes the color of the skyline as it meets the sea; I’d run to the horizon, but I’m tripped up in the weeds. Grey sand receives the wave’s caress that’s gentle, then it’s fierce. I’ve seen all this, ‘cos I’ve been here alone a million years. I staggered, clueless, on the beach, but that was long ago. I’m wait out in the ocean now, I’ve got no place to go. That starry night was difficult but never was so hard As when it dawned upon me that there is no more lifeguard.
The lighthouse glass shattered when seagulls sounded their cries, While every stone got pounded into pebbles by the tide, And they got stripped and scraped until they were nothing but sand That constitutes infinity upon the drying land.
If I should never see you on the darkened waves, Then I will see it through to never greet the day.

Sunset Dreams
I walked the sunset strip in a dream Walked on top of a curved colorful beam At a refuge for the moving stars Walking on land from afar Burning bright like the stars on the wall Feel the pull, hear the call
(chorus) Sunset Dreams will get told Sunset Dreams are precious gold Sunset Dreams can come true Sundet Dreams the magic's in you
Yeah I feel so strong Because I'm where I belong It feels like home After a long lonely roam A rainbow after the storm Inside we are safe, and warm Blue clouds, on a sunlit day Help make this feeling stay
(repeat chorus)
(bridge) You are more than you believe to be Find your way, find the key It will not be long, follow the sign You're getting strong, this is the time You're going to be a perfect ten You got to believe, stand up my friend I'm gonna put shiny magic on you But you got to make your dreams come true
(chorus) Sunset Dreams will get told Sunset Dreams are like shiny gold

TOMORROW'S CHILDREN Copyright Spirit Song Prod 2004 By Janet Allyn
VERSE 1) Tomorrow's children are very near. Tomorrow's children are very dear. Tomorrow's children are just like us… They want a world to live in filled with love and trust
VERSE 2) Tomorrow's children are very real… In every dream we have and how we feel. Tomorrow's children are just like you… They want a world to live in filled with peace and truth.
BRIDGE The answer to our problems is inside our selves - A place we never go to very much. The answer to our problems is inside our selves - 'Cause that's a special place that God can touch.
VERSE 3) Tomorrow's children are on their way - With each new sunrise of each new day. Tomorrow's children are just like me. They want a world that's safe and sound where they can be. Let's make a world that's safe and sound where they can be.

Miracles (Phyllis Chapell) 2005
Mesmerizing mystifying marvelosity extreme Sunlit soaring sanctifying serendipitous scenes. Everything's a miracle, everything I see Life's a gift, that we all receive.
Verse 1: Migrating nomads, winged creatures of the air, Birds, you can fly 1000 miles, how do you know where? Teach me your secrets, where do they come from, Do you feel it in your wingtips, do you hear a distant drum.
Mesmerizing mystifying marveloisty extreme Sunlit soaring sanctifying serendipitous scenes. Everything's a miracle, everything I see Life's a gift, that we all receive.
Verse 2: Some hear a sound, think it's a love song, Some will think it's a prayer, Some see the face of God in a cloud, What do you see there? Maybe things just happen not for reasons we can say, It's what we make of things that happen, that make us what we are today.
Bridge: I need something to believe in, to give me hope and comfort too. Would be nice if what I believed in also happened to be true!
(I believe in) Gyrating jubilating joyous jewels of light. Lilting luminescence luminating all in sight. Tantalizing twirling teeming make my heart feel whole, Winding winsome waving wonders fill my very soul.
Bridge: I need something to believe in, we all need something for sure, To give our lives meaning, that will long long long endure.
Mesmerizing mystifying marvelosity extreme, Sunlit soaring sanctifying serendipitous scenes. Everything's a miracle, everything I see Life's a gift, and that is what I believe!

To The Academy by Tracy O’Connell
Oh I’d really like to thank you for this Grammy in my hand And I’m speaking strictly for myself, not my ungrateful band It’s been a rather long road from complete obscurity So I’d like to put the credit where the credit ought to be First of all there’s Mom and Dad who hated every minute Of every song I ever wrote and every lyric in it They said son, hit the road and get your music out And share it all with someone else who wants to hear you shout And the teachers who encouraged me to follow my own muse And suggested that an education would be of no use They said I was destined to have a great career Tellin’ stories, smokin’ smokes, and drinkin’ lots of beer Tellin’ stories, smokin’ smokes, and drinkin’ lots of beer
And there’s my loyal girlfriend who told me I’d go far If I could only start the engine to my crappy little car Yes she’s the one who loved me enough to let me go I hope she has a TV and can see me on this show And to the music critics and their scathing print reviews Who didn’t think that I would be the kind of guy who sues And of course I’d like to say a humble little word To the Pope who has declared a miracle’s occurred And last to my adoring fans who made me number one And then learned how to download and sank me like the sun ... I thank you from the bottom of my little heart so true And I only hope I get the chance to do the same for you

AS WE DREAM
As we dream in this sleep close to secrets we keep Who knows what is really in there deep down under all the surface seen
As we dream of the past things we hoped that would last We can see time twist and turning to spin and take away beloved things
So maybe what will be will be no matter what we do But somehow that just can't be right and I don't think it's the whole truth
As we dream and make plans Try and hold time in our hands Shifting winds that shape our houses will blow in ways that nobody knows As we dream
But isn't that what life's about? No waving a magic wand The deepest freedom that we have is mostly how we respond
As we dream what may come this deep pain and big fun It's always only right now we have to make our reality

5am or 7:22 Copyright © 2001 John thomas Oaks, ASCAP, Caliora Music Publishing
When the blue of the twilight faded into dark And the wind was a murmuring hush, We were glued to a bench by a pond in the park And ev’ry little syllable I whispered made you blush. In the glow of the lamplight, you laughed at my jokes And your hand held its ground on my arm. I clung like a vine to each word that you spoke, And in spite of the thermometer, I never felt so warm.
Time loped along like an amber Appaloosa As we crept around the corners of the carousel and kissed. We imagined the calliope was singing Strauss and Sousa And conveniently forgot about the watch around my wrist. The clock was out of order at the Central Park Zoo, So I don’t know if it was 5am or 7:22.
When the snow started falling and I let you wear my coat, We were swimming in a silent sea of stars. And though we tread the water gracefully, we couldn’t stay afloat, So the current came and carried us beyond the moon to Mars.
Time clipped along like a Coney Island coaster As we walked along the circle down to Seventh Avenue. We hung around the diner like a Schubert Alley poster Holding hands and just pretending we had nothing else to do. The seconds and the hours seemed to fade away from view, So I don’t know if it was 5am or 7:22.
Funny how we lock Ev’ry moment to the clock, Marking time and making deadlines as we hurry through the day. Funny how the dark And a trip around the park Can help you lose all track of time and carry you away.
In the shadows and the silence of a dark and empty street, In the glimmer of the neon overhead, I was whispering a sentiment you asked me to repeat. I reluctantly admitted it was something that I’d read.
Time stepped aside for a solitary second As I suddenly suspected that the sun was in the sky. The bells and the whistles of another morning beckoned As I turned to take your hand and dread to hear you say, “Goodbye.” It’s funny, when I’m dreaming, how I never miss a cue. . . The clock went off at 5, and then I hit the snooze, and woke again At 7:22.

Seriously Copyright 2006 Linda Moroziuk SOCAN/ASCAP
You could spend your whole life doing things Other people tell you that you should Or you could break away and find the place That feels like home to you
(Sometimes you gotta) Go against the grain Swim against the stream Make the rules as you go, no matter how absurd they seem
Chorus Don't sing unless it's out of key Don't dance without your two left feet Try counting to infinity....oh Spend time on things you can't afford Try doing nothing when you're bored 'Cause the best things in this life are free When you take it just a little less seriously
What might be right for your best friend Won't always be what's right for you To your heart you must be true Only it can tell you what to do
(Sometimes you gotta) Go against the grain Swim against the stream Make the rules up as you go, no matter how absurd they seem
Chorus
Some people won't agree They'll tell you to act seriously But if you want to be happy, sometimes you gotta do things differently
Chorus

"I Wish You Didn't Trust Me So Much" Writers: Marvin Adcock & John Bizzack ©2006
Lord I've got more than I probably deserve There's folks who'd likely concur And consider me a sinner, but others would differ Depends upon who you ask first
Well I'm not a man who prays to be prayin' I don't mean to speak out of turn But I'm tryin' to be christian, no harm admittin' I'm gettin' a little concerned
CHORUS Lord, I know you don’t hand me things I can’t do And the faith you place in me should guide me through But often the problems are more than few And lately the tough ones seem all you choose I'm runnin' on empty, and just between us I wish you didn’t trust me so much
Sometimes under the weight of the load I get weak And things seem beyond my reach But I know that's the way you designed it to be To see if my faith will leap
Sure it makes me a better man I confess But some days I'm not up to the test So I hope you're listenin' to all I'm admittin' And together for one day let's rest
CHORUS (Repeat)
BRIDGE I know I sow gardens too close to rock That’s why I’ve got what I have or have not Who knows what you plan next - but please let me catch my breath
CHORUS (Repeat)
TAG Lord I know you won’t hand me things I can’t do But I wish you didn’t trust me so much Amen

She´s gone for good copyright 2006 Grant Stevens
You turn the key walk to the kitchen yesterdays mood hangs in the air abandoned roses look so lonely in a vase that´s chipped and worn and you coulda sworn that footsteps echoed in the hallway bringing the heartbreak round once more the empty driveway is a testament to wounds that will not heal the hurting won´t yield as the lilac picks up speed toward it´s splendour you´re way out of your depth in winter rain
See feel breathe her every day breathe feel see her walk away feel the space where she once stood cos now she´s gone for good
You´re such a stranger now to gladness close your eyes and drift away turn on the radio and let another bottle greet the dawn oh you could have sworn that today would be another day completely as you repeat the same old lies just like a prayer
See feel breathe her every day breathe feel see her walk away feel the space where she once stood cos now she´s gone for good
Well today could be another day completely you try to act as if you didn´t care and yesterday just left the stage so sweetly while you repeat the same old lies just like a prayer

FOLLOWING CHRIST (c)2004 by Beryl Quinton
1) Church bells chime; you enter for the first time In your parents' arms, your life begins Candles lit, water poured Blessed and anointed, you're bathed in the waters Prayers and promises recited for you; Those who love you best are filled with joy The sacrament of Baptism cleanses your soul The first step on your journey YOU'RE... FOLLOWING CHRIST, FOLLOWING CHRIST GOD'S NEW CREATION, TRANSFORMED BY HIS LOVE FOR YOU 2) As a little child, you grow in wisdom Knowing that one day you will receive Your First Communion, bread and wine Body and blood of our blessed Lord Jesus Once again the bells ring out to greet you Joyful is their welcoming refrain Jesus Christ comes to you Nourishing body and soul by His presence YOU'RE... FOLLOWING CHRIST, FOLLOWING CHRIST TRUSTING IN HIM AS YOUR JOURNEY CONTINUES Confirmation Day, joyful bells ring out Fire of the Spirit fills your soul Now you can renew promises made for you You are a soldier of Christ 3) Challenges and choices fill your journey: College, marriage, children, holy life Bells proclaim joys and pain A lifetime that's filled with the blessings of Jesus Chiming bells ring out again to meet you Relatives and friends are at your side With fond farewells, they celebrate The years of your life and your birth into Heaven YOU'RE... FOLLOWING CHRIST, FOLLOWING CHRIST TAKING HIS HAND NOW YOU FOLLOW... FOLLOW HIM HOME

A Family Again (c) 1999 William P. Jenkins
Once we were one big happy family. God loved us all, But we were broken like pottery dashed in a fall,
Then my Mommy was crying. She says Daddy's lying And feels that it's all over now. A friend said, remember your vows, But Mommy just doesn't see how. But she's a believer in 'Leave It to Beaver', i know that she'll celebrate when We get together and all be a family again.
And my Daddy was doubting the fighting and shouting Would ever come down to an end. He says broken hearts never mend. i asked if we all would be friends. The toy that he gave me while promising maybe Will never replace the joy when We get together and all be a family again.
As i lay in the dark at night, i wonder what did i do wrong. Did i remember to pray? i'm lonely, oh so lonely. Yes we're lonely all so lonely in our hearts, And it keeps us apart.
Now my Daddy is dating, and Mommy's not waiting. They each say they have a new pal And hope that i'll like them somehow. Things will be all better now. But while i'm pretending my broken heart's mending i know that we'll celebrate when We get together and all be a family again. Again. Amen.

something special © 2006 John Voorpostel
angelee's a potter, works designs into her clay little bits of her go in everything she makes if you look real close she'll leave you standing there amazed when you find her heart and soul looking out behind the glaze
she not the kind of pretty or the type to catch your eye see her on the street and you'll likely pass her by but find her with her platters, bowls and flagons and designs you'll see there's something special hidden intricate and fine
angelee puts her heart and soul in clay while her potter's wheel keeps turning and her potter's kiln keeps burning turning out her heart and soul
once a San Francisco dealer passing through this town looked beyond her vessel very pleased with what he found she wouldn't marry him but they've lasted through the years I'm glad she'd have me, glad I stayed, glad because it's here
angelee puts her heart and soul in clay while her potter's wheel keeps turning and her potter's kiln keeps burning turning out her heart and soul

The Hard Ride ©2003 Vern Batty
Ridin’ hard toward old Mexico headed south for the Rio Grande Ten hard men ten miles behind me ten quick guns full of lead. A hot dry wind leads me on to a land full of rock and sand Sun beating down upon my back, no time to rest my head. Pony lathered, my thoughts can’t gather, no means to make a stand As I run from the Devil and the death he would level, Her words I hear over again:
Hasta la vista, via con Dios, Buena suerte, mi todo Corazón Ride with the wind, keep your back to the sun And return to me again. Use the eyes of the Eagle, ears of the desert Hare, craft of cunning Coyote Ride with the wind, keep your back to the sun And return to me one day.
Up from the bosqúe, tracked through the malpais, and blinding gypsum sands My pony took water from springs in the grassland then we lit out for the border again. Feeling the breath of that outlaw Diablo burning the back of my neck We skirted the mountains, due south for El Paso- saw the dust of the riders again. I am no outlaw and I am no coward but one man can’t stand against ten So I ride for Juaréz, in my heart I go over The words my sweet woman said:
Hasta la vista, via con Dios, Buena suerte, mi todo Corazón Ride with the wind, keep your back to the sun And return to me again. Use the eyes of the Eagle, ears of the desert Hare, craft of cunning Coyote Ride with the wind, keep your back to the sun And return to me one day.
We climbed from the water of the Mexican border as night tamed Hell’s heat of the day. Conchita’s Cantina lay a short ride before me so I pushed my mount onward again. A man can’t stop runnin’ with men gunnin’ for him - desperado he’d be destined to stay. My woman’s hermanos, four skilled vaqueros, swore to stand with me in the fray. Now I sit in the corner of this little cantina, watch the faces that ease through the door; A table before me, no light above it - a brace of pistols below. Waiting for Fate to deal his hand, ten riders to finally show; I think of her face, those lovely lips And the words she last spoke:
Hasta la vista, via con Dios, Buena suerte, mi todo Corazón Ride with the wind, keep your back to the sun And return to me again. Use the eyes of the Eagle, ears of the desert Hare, craft of cunning Coyote Ride with the wind, keep your back to the sun And return to me one day.

Thinking ‘Bout What I’ve Done BY SAM MORRISON ©2005 Convalian Productions
STARING THRU THE RAINDROPS BEATING DOWN UPON THE GLASS WONDERING WHEN THE PAIN STOPS WAITING FOR THIS STORM TO PASS LIGHTNING FLASHES NEARBY GIVING GLIMPSES OF THE NIGHT PRAYING SOON FOR CLEAR SKY GROWING TIRED OF THE FIGHT
LORD IT DON’T SEEM RIGHT
THINKING BOUT WHAT I’VE DONE EVERYTHING HAS GONE SO WRONG WISHING THAT I COULD RUN I CAN’T GET AWAY, I’M NOT THAT STRONG THINKING BOUT WHAT I’VE DONE
TREMBLING FROM THE THUNDER SORTING THRU WHATS LEFT BEHIND STARTING TO GO UNDER LOSING WHAT’S LEFT OF MY MIND LIGHTNING FLASHES NEARBY SHOWING NEW LINES ON MY FACE CHOKING BACK THE TEARS I’M COUNTING STEPS I CAN’T RETRACE
THINKING BOUT WHAT I’VE DONE EVERYTHING HAS GONE SO WRONG WISHING THAT I COULD RUN I CAN’T GET AWAY, I’M NOT THAT STRONG THINKING BOUT WHAT I’VE DONE

Without Love By: Franklin A. Vassallo Copyright (C) 2005
V1. Without Love there's no sacrifice Without Love no sage advice Without Love there's no more shoes and rice.
V2. There was I a soul all alone. There was I on my own, My destiny to be Without Love.
Bridge Suddenly came a spirit like flame A thunderbolt from the blue. I felt love's dart pierce deep in my heart So I peered inside and found there was you.
V3. Now I'm sharing a love supreme Now I'm living a special dream Never again to be Without Love.
Tag. Never again to be Without Love.

She Wasn’t Dancing for the Boys By Richard P. Myers Copyright 2003
(Verse one) First she was born, and the wind came to her room. It gently rocked the cradle, and she smiled. And later, she and the wind would go dancing in the tall grasses, she in the cotton dresses of a child.
At night the stars looked like angels come to read the dreams from her pillow. So she thought maybe God was the man in the moon, and he’d seen her dancing down by the willows.
(Chorus) But when she looks back on it now, she wasn’t dancing for the boys. When she looks back on it now, she wasn’t dancing for the boys.
(Verse two) Her summer dress was lace and camisole. Winds caressed the sweat from her face. And all the stars, they swirled and posed like suitors wooing her from outer space.
And even the bands would stop playing to hear her bare feet whisper across the dance floor. All the boys thought she’d come to make a choice, and soon he and she would waltz forever more.
(Chorus) But when she looks back on it now, she wasn’t dancing for the boys. When she looks back on it now, she wasn’t dancing for the boys.
(Bridge) She wasn't dancing, wasn't dancing. She wasn't dancing for the boys. She wasn't dancing, wasn't dancing. She wasn't dancing for the boys.
(Verse three) Now the stars will follow her like children. She smiles through the dark so they don’t feel alone. And all the stages and the dancefloors and the photos feel like someone else’s memories in her home.
All the men she love have died. The sons she raised are mostly gone. But in the morning she takes her brittle bones and the wind out for a slow pas de deux across the lawn.
(Chorus) Cause when she looks back on it now, she wasn’t dancing for the boys. When she looks back on it now, she wasn’t dancing for the boys.
When she looks back on it now, she smiles. She wasn’t dancing for the boys.

DOG EARRED N' DUSTY (SOCAN)(c)2006 William T. Mills (celticpicker)
A lone gull flies over An island off the coast The silver sea lies calm Upon a world full of hope Hope for tomorrow In search of something true But really what I need’s a friend More than that there’s you Another day don’t seem All that much in view But at this point in time It’s not enough time for you So lets talk awhile And sing a song or two We’ll live today, dream all night And see tomorrow thru
CHORUS: Will you take time to call me Or drop a line or two Will you have the answer To the question I asked you Will you talk to me tomorrow When I’m down and blue Will you just be my friend I've been so blind it's true
You know I’ve made some changes That much is true But trying to make sense of things Ain’t nothin’ new Listen to what I’m sayin’ Open up your eyes I’m standing right in front of you Hold me please I cry
It’s no good to see your picture From the corner of my eye Dog earred and dusty It makes me wonder why You seem to haunt my lonely nights I don’t know what to say But livin’ here on my own I die a little more each day
CHORUS

The Only Thread (c. Kevin Winchester)
Every day sure looks the same when you share my point of view. Coffee in the mornings, cocaine afternoons. Every night when the sun goes down, it finds me in this room alone. Hoping the bottle will ease my pain. And wash away these voices that keep calling out your name.
This feeling’s grown as comfortable as a worn out pair of jeans Like my heart, so faded and torn. But I can’t bear to part with them, though the seams are all laid bare, Cause this feeling is the only thread left holding me to you
I could stop my sinful ways, but it would not change a thing. Cause even when I’m sober, I know I’m still the one to blame. I spent my time chasing empty dreams and they all turned out the same: Left me lonely and afraid. I couldn’t see what I was reaching for was only pushing you away.
It’s sad because it’s so predictable when your life becomes a cliché. There’s so many things you’d like to revise, but there’s nothing more to say.
Every day sure looks the same when you share my point of view. Coffee in the morning, cocaine afternoons. I’ll never find a way to kill this pain no matter how hard I try. And lord knows, how I’ve tried. And now my memory is the only thing left keeping me alive.
This feeling’s grown as comfortable as a worn out pair of jeans Like my heart, so faded and torn. But I can’t bear to part with them, though the seams are all laid bare, Cause this feeling is the only thread left holding me to you This feeling is the only thread left holding me to you

The Invasion Of Chelsea
Shandy Lawson
"It was our darkest hour," Is what everyone said About the day the town of Chelsea Got turned on its head-- When the whole world gazed, Bewitched and amazed At the miracle that laid At their feet
Widow Johnson's Chevy (one wheel in the grave) Took to losing oil At a most alarming rate And it left a stain, A mark on the terrain That forever changed Little Chelsea
Upon returning home one day Widow Johnson saw the stain In a most familiar shape-- The face of the Virgin Mary
She called out to her neighbors, And they called out to theirs And before you could say a Hail Mary The whole town was there And it filled the street, The sound of shuffling feet-- They all came out to see Her blessed driveway.
The pretty girl from the evening news And the kid from the Chelsea Press Took turns asking questions About which driveway was blessed And it made front page It was all the rage... Folks of every age Came to Chelsea.
By noon the hotels all were booked Widow Johnson's whole house shook They were on the roof to get a look At the face of the Virgin Mary.
Maps to the scene were sold on every corner You can take the walking tour for twenty bucks Replicas for sale are all hand-painted, And guaranteed to bring you divine luck
("Binoculars for rent-- only five dollars And guaranteed to provide immaculate perception.")
The excitement reached a fever pitch 'Til someone in the crowd Said, "The stain looks less like Mary, And more like Charlie Brown." And they all went quiet... Someone said, "You're right." And they receded into the night 'Til the street was empty.
The sun came up on Chelsea Widow Johnson surveyed the scene That oil-stain on the driveway Would take all day to clean And she swept the street Cleaned up the debris It was back to the old routine In Chelsea

SNOWFLAKE
A time of hope, a brand new season - At least it was for me. But winter brings its bounty Of possibility.
A snowflake formed in mid-December. It surely was unique. We wondered, 'Could it hang on -or would it be too weak?'
Snowflake We wanted you to stay To ride the wind and play And brighten up our day.
Within its natural surroundings Our snowflake was secure. And with the right conditions We thought it would endure.
Snowflake We wanted you to stay To ride the wind and play And brighten up our day.
What was conceived in mid-December Was destined for defeat. And like the snowflake in the setting sun It melted in the heat.
Snowflake We wanted you to stay To ride the wind and play And brighten up our day.
Snowflake We're sad you couldn't stay And January turned gray The day you melted ... a-a-a-a-a - way.

I Am You
(Verse 1) As she told me to look in the mirror And she told me to look deep into myself Couldn’t mention a reason why I loved her But it had me in some state of mental health
(Chorus 1) I am you I am you I am you I am you
(Verse 2) What’d she expect me to see there? I can’t tell you Just insisted that I’d be easier to feel Then the darkness surrounded that white marble And cast a spell that no one could escape
(Chorus 2) I am you (The reflection told me) I am you (You know it always sold me) I am you (No one could unfold me) I am you
(Verse 3) Yeah the way things ended, was not the intention, Just confusion of feelings on both hearts (And) though the shortest distance may solve all problems We have to find out just where that line starts
(Chorus 1) I am you…
(Verse 4) Then she gave me the reasons why she loved me Returning all that I had lost (She said) Just remember the free dove in the closet It’s not always who you’re with, but what it cost
(Chorus 2) I am you (The reflection told me)…

Patrick O’Daugherty by Ned Massey
Patrick O’daugherty Grew up in a Boston family Third generation From the land of lucky green When he was a lad He’d get set down by his dad Who’d tell him all the stories Of the land he’d never seen Of the magic of the Emerald Isle, Especially in a colleen’s smile But best of all St. Patrick Who could drive the snakes away
As the boy grew older His father’s tales grew colder Told him of the dark side Of the history of the land Of slavery and hunger How they tried to drag them under But Cromwell couldn’t break them The British all be damned How the battle won’t be done Til all of Ireland is one And just like St. Patrick They could drive the snakes away
Keen for your mother country That it one day may be whole
Patrick O’Daugherty Was drafted in 1970 Sent to fight the Comunists In the land of Vietnam Mechanics he could understand Was a pretty brave kid With a steady hand So they trained him in the secrets Of how to make and disarm bombs But what he saw there broke his heart And when it came time to depart He returned to America A dazed and shattered man
Patrick’s alone in a bar Out of work, drinking hard When two men come and sit down On either side of him In an Irish brogue they say They represent the IRA And know of him as someone Who can be trusted as a friend And how they’d like to commission His talent in demolition And just like St. Patrick He could drive the snakes away
Keen for your mother country I cannot turn my back away
Patrick O’Daugherty Settled in Belfast city With a brand new name And a burning desire He was high paid and protected Revered and respected For he was the man Who could give the people fire And for the British troops he did not care but he made his fellow rebels swear His handiwork would not be used On innocent lives
Then one day he heard the news A carbomb near a Protestant school At least a dozen passersby Wounded or dead He ran and found the rebel commander Grabbed him and demanded An explanation but this reply Was all he got instead “Are you really so naive That you could honestly believe That in Belfast there’s such a thing As innocent lives”
And Patrick said Keen for your mother country and the blood that stains these hands
Patrick O’Daugherty Sits drinking his whiskey Remembering all the things His father had said Patrick O’Daugherty Pours another whiskey Trying hard to drive away The demons in his head Because his ears resound with childrens cries And their mangled bodies fill his eyes And just like St. Patrick He must drive these things away
Patrick O’Daugherty Finishes his whiskey Picks up a .45 And puts it to his head
Keen for your mother country How much more blood will be shed How much more blood will be…

~DISTANT STAR UTOPIA~
I went to find the locksmith But they told me there’s no need Locks are made for people And here we have no greed Then I went to find a policeman But none were to be found Everywhere I looked I saw that good was all around
Where do you think you are? Perhaps on a distant star I fell asleep so easily How could I get this far? And how did I get here? A dream? A scheme? A joke? One thing that was clear It was gone when I awoke
Then I went to find the doctor But they said you never will Harmony and balance here No reason to get ill So I asked to see their leader But they said what do you mean? All of us are equal here There is no king or queen
Where do you think you are? Perhaps on a distant star I fell asleep so easily How could I get this far? And how did I get here? A dream? A scheme? A joke? One thing that was clear It was gone when I awoke
