Hi Folks,
Could anyone suggest the best settings to convert a wav file, which has a warm wet feel, with a bit of reverb on the vocal, to MP3?
My attempts seem to result in a noticable "warbly" feel in the MP3 file. I've heard that this is a drawback of MP3, but is there anyway to reduce this effect, short of editing the source file, which was taken straight from a CD master file.
thanks
have a good one

peter, a couple of ideas. first have you tried more than one mp3 converting software? i don't know if that would be it though. i did one time run into this problem with a track that had too much reverb in the master. i had the raw data so i pulled in the pre mastered song and took some reverb out. that's all i know of hope it helps jt

Eyesound, Not sure what settings there are except frequency. I use the free Dbpoweramp it works great for me. I set it at 128 44 because that is usually the highest setting allowed by soundclick or Mp3 to upload. Other than normalize I dont know of any other settings. I would not think you would want to add any effects at this point. http://download.com.com/3000-2140-10125657.html?tag=lst-0-1 David http://www.daviddouglaswright.com

It seems DBPowerAMP is pretty popular. I also use it. Reverb can be a bit of a problem with MP3s. If you CAN, try it at 160kb instead of 128. If you have your own web site (not mp3.com or soundclick.com), that will be OK. At least you can then see if it's the encoding process causing the warble. ------------------ Larry www.audibleresponse.com

I have dbpoweramp but I really prefer musicmatch file converter but that's because it automatically converts to 128kbs. Maybe I'm missing something but reverb and that warm feeling are things I get when mastering, not while converting. I have converted and then listened to the 'computer mix' and gone back and made adjustment to the master mix to get a different sound on the computer but everyones ear is different.
