Hey Herbie,
I'm great!!!!! However, I'm struggling to get this DAW in my home studio to work. Everybody I know wants a demo and I have to turn them away because as a techie, I make a decent bass player. If anyone else out there has built a DAW, I'd love to pull your coattail. There's nothing in the recording forum that's helped so far.
Sandy-I'm a designer and since I can't do the show I'd be happy to help you out with a flyer or poster. Send me an e-mail. Let;s discuss what you have and what you need.

First, Mighty Joe, Kate Newcomer gig: Great time and an awesome crowd! The night was magical and enjoyable for artists and crowd alike. Kate did a phenomenal job of pulling people in! Second.... I forgot...Was there something that someone wanted to say or asked me and I was supposed to answer? ------------------ A kaleidoscope of passion... www.michaelplishka.com

Wendell</font> LOL Wendell, I think it's a little too late to worry about muddying up this thread. It's been all over the place and back... ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif)

It's an acronym (why does that word always make me think of Jessica Tandy?) for Digital Audio Workstation. ------------------ Mike Dunbar Music
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

Michael, Or, anyone else that can help.. Here's the DAW related question I'm struggling with...
I got a good deal on a Fostex vf-80 w/o the internal CD burner. I was only going to use it for a sketch pad, but now I have about a dozen really strong demos on it. I wanted to move these recordings to my Mac G4 (933/40g HD/512 Ram) because it has it's own CD burner. I was told I need to get a soundcard with SPDIF. I got an audiowerks 2 card with Micrologic AW2 3.7.4. The manual for the soundcard doesn't give a clue as to how to hook the recorder up. I assumed thru the digital in.
Should the Fostex show up on my screen like anyother external device? Since that didn't work. I went to the AW2 program and tried to record to the mac. The dialog bar came up but I didn't get a wave file. I thought I'd get clever and just record track by track into the audio ins. Well, I did get a wav file but it was so small I knew I did something wrong there also.
Anybody out there using similar gear or experienced with the set up?
I also have a Roland xp-80 and I understand I need a midi connector to run it to the sound card. Or can I get a midi to USB connector? I also have the LE Protools but am just as lost using that.
I'm running OS 9.2 because all my other graphics programs wont run on OSX and I have no plans to upgrade soon.
Lets see what else......?
Oh yeah, heeeelllllllllp!!
Hope that covers it.
Wendell

All right Wendell....
Here's what ya gotta do...
Hook up the kentcner adaptor to the Kanute valve. Be careful not to over bunge the mcwhorter or the split-servo will overamp the willy !
After you've converted all the trell messages to a usable bitrate, they should be absorbed into the q program with no problem !!
This all becomes moot, of course, if your under the level of available meg or if your hard drive can't maintain an erection!!
In that case I'd advise you switch to an analog adaptor and go listen to some Lynnrd Skynnrd !
Cheers !!!

I am very excited about the Oct 9 gig. I have written 3 new songs and I'm trying to memorize at least one before then. I would love to do the newest for you Bob, but it's alot of words and chords and I don't think i'll have it ready. It's called "OLD". Looking forward to meeting and hearing you.

the split-servo will overamp the willy !
Bob!! I wish you had warned me earlier!! The little lady is none to please with the overamped willy. She's complaining that I should be more careful with equipment that we have to share and demanded that I plug it in to prove it still works. Well much to her relief and mine......

Shawn..
Sandy Andina worked out a date (Oct 9) for JPFers at Uncommon Ground.
I think the show is set for performers but we'd love to have all the members there showing their support.
I'll be showing my support by wearing a jock strap outside my pants !
Come on down !

Wendell, Sorry for taking so long to get back-I realized with horror that I forgot to send you a response! The easiest way to do it is through the inputs on the sound card. Your Computer based software should recognize the input but you should make sure it's seeing the left and right channels and configured properly (which might be the problem). USB would be the way to go; then you could get into the Fostex and just grab the WAV's you need. Does the Fostex have a USB port? I'm not familiar with the Micrologic software but it sounds like it's not seeing your card properly. I need to cruise by sometime soon (if you haven't solved the issue already) and take a look at it. Apologies again! Keep buggin me!!! Michael ------------------ A kaleidoscope of passion... www.michaelplishka.com

Michael,
Better late than never! : )
I've made some progress. I'm able to go straight from the vf-80 to waveburner and burn CDs and make mp3s. What I need to learn is getting these files and tracking into Logic and edit/mix/master. So lets see... I started as a bass player....I'm learning to play guitar, keys, write, compose, arrange, engineer, mix and master, web design, promotion, marketing. My brain is exploding....Not a single class, lesson or workshop. Starting to miss all those brain cells I had so much fun frying.
BTW Michael, you've got mail
