I heartily agree. AI music sucks, and some folks can detect it immediately, like some folks have perfect pitch, that kind of thing. I know i can detect AI art (most of the time).

Lol. Yeah, most of it does suck. It's in its infancy remember, drum machiness sucked too when they came out. Now they're so good nobody can tell.
I haven't heard any ai song, or track...that's what wete talking about really, is tracks, not songs. It's production in a bottle, but haven't heard any Ai sing that beats my favorite bands.
There's obviously alot more to it, than just logic.
Ai detectors apparently work by breaking down patterns, Ai prefers to work by the next logical step mode Humans don't have that trait
I think its main power is in an idea generator, and as im starting to do now, just using Ai as my band., and engineer and producer
People will find a way to label that same thing, it's not though
As far as here, even if we didn't have Ai music section, it would be quite easy to tell if somebody is using Ai.
A different singer and style each song, and most obviously, we already know the people here are using it. And are not paying thousands for every song they post.
I think its a great sketch, allows you to experiment with styles you couldn't have.
I also don't it's written better music than me, it just sounds great.
Does lack vibrancy, you can notice it mostly in rock music
This is really old news , If you use Suno your a thief . Nothing has changed . The lawyer is looking lovely like always. I'm a thief. Blah Blah blah Blah .

Well said Ben! The key word is "THIEF"! No different than buying stolen merchandise off a street peddler.

Why is everybody acting like they walk on water ? You're a thief . I admit it . I'm a thief . But here's the deal I pay the session players . So I'm square on the morality thing using a Suno song as a map for humans . She's to attractive . Some pit bull lawyer would tear her to pieces .
Let's set the record straight . For one, it is not a demo . It's a artist song . It's not going to cost you thousands . $1000.00 . All costs including studio time . Thats a product you can use . Yes it's hard work . Takes a lot time learning a song to record . No you will not sound like Suno singers . You put your own brand on the song .
Ai or not, 99% of songs recorded will not get listened too. Complete bullshit . You promote and get a following.
Oh by the way Daltrey the Who guy is performing here . Guys like 80 something. Still at it.
He will bring his "A Great Night Out!" solo tour to Santa Rosa for an intimate, semi-acoustic performance at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts on Friday, September 4, 2026. It used to take a talented team to make records, that's gone. Thats complete bullshit also . I hire session players to make a song . Which will turn into an album.
Nothing has changed as soon as you push the Suno button you receive stolen merchandise. Then in turn you fence it off to whatever platform to make a profit.Apple , Spotify . whatever . It's basically legal Grand Larceny . When you buy coke . You do not see the deaths it took to get the product .When You push the Suno button you do not see the loss of revenue of session players .
its all very fascnating . When you push the Suno button you are protected by Sunos Lawyers . The scam is pure genius . This is pointless , people are not going to stop using Suno . Artists are not going stop using session players and using studios . So thats the war, humans against robots . AI will keep evolving , Humans with flaws will try to keep up. The elevator in broke take the fucking stairs .

They ripped over 120 hours of my music from our servers over and over and over. Now, I can join the one BS lawsuit for "indies" that even exists, but when you look a few inches deep into it, you see that it is just as fraudulent as anything else. They will round up all the "indies" into this one lawsuit, pay them all a one time fee of $10 bucks (if they even "accept" you which is HIGHLY unlikely because that lawsuit expects YOU to go into Suno and Udio, and produce songs until one infringes on YOUR music, then send them specific examples of that. I have produced over 80K tracks based direectly off my actual music and only one time did it seem to have lifted one of my earlier tracks into an output. I think it was simply a glitch, and it was early on like version 3.5 more than 2 years ago. I also got a clear rip off of Fleetwood Mac's Dreams one time that same day. Other than those examples, nothing. In over 80K productions. But the bogus lawsuit for the generally unrepresented "indies" who made up 99% of the training material, I bet less than 0.000001% can even deliver an example that would get them anywhere. Meanwhile, the legal team in a very questionable legal zone will get nearly all the "settlement" money and by doing so, will wipe out the 99+% of people who WERE infringed off the lawsuit. Meanwhile the labels are settling not for a one time payout, but for a permanent % of AI forever. Likely billions of dollars over time or more. So "indies will get a one time payout of $10 while those barely infringed will have a forever income stream. It is ALL a scam.
So, I have 2K finished songs and about that many additional songs with full music tracks. As I write lyrics for my melodies, I can produce a world class demo of it for pennies. Likewise, I am working on a huge narrative project which has specific "characters" doing music within it and I can produce all their songs, in a consistent voice and style that sounds radio ready. Will I use them in the end project? Depends. If the legal settlements allow AI production of fully original works to fully earn royalties, (which they should) then of course. I already have animated aspects of this project underway. Since Hollywood, the Recording Industry and many others have long been using AI algorhythms in hit songs, AI EQ, AI mastering, AI effects and reverb etc. why the hell should people who got their music heavily used in training not get SOME benefit from the technology? In 5 years no one will give a crap how anything was produced except elite collectors (think those who buy vinyl already) but the great unwashed masses won't care because there are already tons of AI music all over the "charts" (which have always been fake), viral videos (which have always been fake agenda driven by gatekeepers, Playlists on Spotify that generate most of the royalties paid which are fully controlled by gatekeepers and so on. Why should someone spend 10-20K for 12 songs on an album no one will listen to in the first place and which will likely never be given a merit based chance of success when they can simply adjust their work process into taking their DAW tracks and popping them into Suno, then either reverse engineering the engineering to remove the AI elements, (like many are doing) or simply rolling with what it is as it allows them to spend the little resources they have on gear, or touring or a babysitter so they can do a gig. the industry does not care about aging naysayers. They do not care about the 99+% of artists who were ACTUALLY used to train the AI, they no longer invest in "artists" like the boomers and Gen X's might have. Right now I see countless new bands literally lip syncing to Suno tracks as a full band for Tic Tok videos which accounts for nearly 50% of all royalty income today. If you can't come up with a compelling visual element to go along with your music, you have little other chance of breaking in, unless you are a cute 18 year old female artist who lecherous label people can molest in exchance for a career or a band who will sell out themselves in a bad label deal to get their feet in the door and work the rest of their lives making money for gatekeepers. That is the reality of the music industry today. John is fortunate that he built up relationships prior to any of this, had he not, he would be directly competing with endless free to use AI generated music tracks.
I choose to use the saqme tools the industry is using. They surveyed full time pro songwriters (Berklee School of Music) and over 90% of them were actively using Suno in much the same way I do. Not to save money but to save time and for proof of concept. I have first hand knowledge of a major hit artist using a Suno track I produced for him as the model they used in the studio (including keeping the piano and bass tracks in the final recording) for a major label country star who is putting the song on their album (at least it is planned for now, things can change). Could they have re-recorded it? Sure, but why? The other labels have been using elements of this tech for a decade.
I used fully working AI in 2002 out in San Francisco. I did not understand what it was until I played with Chat GPT and I finally had the answer to what the hell I saw under an NDA all those years ago. LLMs have been widely used by Hollywood, by Authors, by TV production, even speech writers for DECADES. The elites had it and used it. But heaven forbid any little guy or gal uses the same tools. They will get mercilessly attacked by their peers who simply don't know any better. Case in point this discussion.
It has nothing to do with the question: Is this a net positive for creativity? I think if used ethically, yes. If used how people making money use it, not so much. But while you are all hand wringing about it, they are and will continue to make bank using it.

Wow, you make a compelling observation Brian. I reckon I'm slowly becoming a dinosaur. AI has used 4-500 tracks of mine. Sent me $1,200 for them. And also sends me quarterly much smaller amounts. This wasn't Suno though.

It's awesome that you are at least getting some compensation. But the lawyer in the video above (I had joined in to the proceeding at first until I looked more deeply into it and realized this is all pre arranged to clear most claims against Suno and Udio so that all the long term revenue share will go exclusively to labels. This is exactly the same playbook they used with Spotify. The way Spotify is using AI currently is they are paying songwriers to crank out AI content one flat fee vs recurring royalties. As work for hire writers. Then Suno owns the songs outright and floods most playlists with that content. This is partially why so many AI tracks are on the "charts." So Suno pays itself the royalties for all the filler content for things like genre playlists (think Sleep Aid songs, Mood and Vibe playlists etc.) and the few real artists are now getting only 50% of the royalties they once did (which is now like half of the nearly nothing most get paid). I think I saw where a Billion streams on spotify only pays the writer(s) 144K in royalties, though 9 times that amount goes to the owners of the Masters.
One big issue I have struggled with is who owns Suno masters? They continually insist to me in writing that I 100% own my content and Masters, but in Jan 2026, I thought (according to the woman above) that they were reclaiming ownership of the masters. That is a 90% financial difference. I don't trust her or the labels or Suno frankly. In the end, they will absolutely screw the little guys and gals. Meanwhile, it is great that you seem unaffected by any of it. I hope that continues for you.

Was there something you disagreed with? I was told by Suno I am among the Top edge case users of their site. I currently have uploaded over 1500 songs to them and generated over 80K versions of them, changing production, arrangements, genres etc. I started off against it, but then I actually used it. I also talked to a lot of Pro writers who do a lot of what I do and I have taught multiple hit songwriters how to use it effectively. It is allowing me to create a project I have worked on since the early 1990s. I never could afford to produce the music I had written for it, but now it is an incredible tool. No one has lost any of their rights, if someone infringes on someone else using Suno, the laws apply as they always have. here is zero danger to writers having their songs stolen or infringed on. If a human listens to the Eagles and it inspires and teaches them how to write songs like they did, that is okay, so why should a machine be any different. Auto generated music has been around since the dawn of Electronic music. Band in the Box for 35 years. No one cared because it isn't very good. If left to it's own devices AI music is only as good as what someone creates with it. It doesn't automatically generate anything good enough for success, at least I haven't heard anything auto generated that was good.

I'm not worried about it all . Write a few songs , Record them and promote as the artist. I'm sure all your facts are true . Yes you can use Suno as a map . then record them with humans .
Nashville has been doing that for awhile . I'm not concerned with the legalities of it all .

Actually, I didn't approach them, Bill. One of my publishers did. Apparently, I must have okayed it in my agreement with them. Oh well, it wasn't my first oversight, and I'm sure it won't be my last. "There's no fool, like an old fool" -
