I just received my health insurance statement. My brain scan was billed $4,900. Wow! Glad my insurance covered it. BTW, the results showed just normal deterioration for a man my age. So, the scan wasn't needed. Well, except for my peace-of-mind.

That's how my bro thought. He never went to the doctor. If he would have had the PSA test (for prostate cancer) every year, he'd still be alive. Of course you don't have to worry about prostate cancer.

It's in the "General Message" forum. Although, there should be a "Health Forum". Musicians need health advice too. The longer we live, the more music we'll make.

A woman at the Hillbilly Flea Market in Ashland, Kentucky, or maybe it was Floyd, or Flatwoods. It was on Route 23.
Any way, she asked me how old I was. I think I was 57.
She said, "The reason I ask is because my husband died of prostate cancer, one of the easiest cancers to treat, and he might still be alive if he had a Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test."
She said to get one if you're getting into your fifties.
I got out of my fifties as quick as I could.
I had some blood tests shortly after that, cost me $900.
"Your heart's good, liver's good, kidneys good. You might be gettin' diabetes though and have to take a pill!"
I was pretty sure that wasn't a risk. I ate very little sugary foods, candies, pastries, high fructose corn syrup.
"Oh. Well..." Doc said, "did you maybe drink a beer the day before you had the blood taken?"
Hell, that was 30 days ago. I don't remember.
I've got paperwork to turn in to see how much Medicare will cost. How much I'll have left to live on. Have to pay a penalty for not signing up when I retired.
Then I'll have to get Part C and D that everybody's complaining just 'inflated'.
I may have to keep on doin without until I break down on the side of the road and someone takes me to the junkyard.

John, you’re making a very important point. Guys, please don’t brush this off - get your PSA test done regularly. It’s a simple test that can save your life. Trust me, it matters.

Yes! I'm considered high risk for prostate cancer because my father and brother had it. My father had the PSA test every year. That's how it was detected. He had surgery and survived because it was caught at an early stage. My brother on the other hand never had PSA tests and never went to the doctor. He didn't realize he had it until one night he couldn't urinate. He was placed on a catheter. The surgeon told him it was too advanced to operate. The mass was huge. The surgeon gave him 6 months. That was about right. So get your damn PSA test every year.

Best, John

You start breaking about 65 , then here comes the MRIS. You live in denial you would never be old. The mind is still 22

When they start doing all kinds of MRIs and CTs, you get scared. You think, the more they search, the greater the chances they'll find something. Chances are, ... eventually they will find something.

Yes, that wasn't much of a pep talk. laugh They told my bro to enjoy his next 6 months, because that was all he had. I think he made fools out of them because he lasted 7 months.

That's sad. Imagine... your doctor tells you you've got just 6 more months to live. What do you do? They said the same thing to my dad. He made it through 9 more months. The last 3 months were hell. It might be something to work on in a song. I tried it a while ago..

I've got it all planned for when I die (hopefully not for a long time). I'll be cremated, my grandson will purchase a "Barrel Full of Monkeys," remove the monkeys and put my ashes in the barrel. He'll seal it up with a note inside telling the story of my life. Then he'll drive to Niagara Falls, walk about 1/4 mile upstream from the Falls, and toss me in.

There's more money in it than music. I guess I could join the Cartel. Move to Columba , Go to hit man school , I'm a fast learner. John I'd rather be in Canada . U.S.is way overrated
