My father in law used to be in a famous band and this duo did a take on one of his songs.. Rob and I are (and have permission) to add lyrices. What do you like about this melody? Start at the 47 second mark.
Well it's from 1992 so can't imagine how it would sound familiar (unless that was a compliment) to the composer (?)
No, old time familiar. Hey, we're all influenced by different writers. Impossible not to be. My music is influenced by Rachmaninoff, to Gershwin, to Mancini, etc... It is very appealing. I can imagine many will think so.
yes. but I don't think the two people in this youtube video are gonna come to my house.. (smile)
When I work with Patricio and singers, I send them a mp3 backing track (usually just piano) and then they add their performance to it. They then send me a wav file of just the sax or vocal track(s). Then I add the tracks to the Logic Project and mix their parts in. Patricio lives in Germany, but it works just as well as living next to me. I used him on 30+ tracks. He's very professional.
Yeah, I can see how that makes sense, we used to send files back and forth to England, but it was someone I knew. I don't know these two people I only know the songwriter. (sigh)
We just put together a draft recording of this song. We started with two sets of lyrics, then blended them together and replaced lines until everything felt right. Once the lyrics were finished, I began generating different versions in Suno and downloaded a variety of stems. In the end, I mixed stems from multiple recordings - a very time-consuming process. Piano, bass, drums, strings, vocals - all coming from different AI takes. I cut everything into small bits and pieces and, like a puzzle, put them back together to form a complete song. I also removed unwanted noise in quieter sections of some tracks, so the overall sound quality is much better than a standard Suno recording.
[Verse] Something was missing A space I could not fill Not with pain or pleasure Tried to run away By standing still I was in the dark Afraid to move and Closed my heart when You gave me life and Showed me the greatest love
[Verse] Years in the darkness Searching for your light Every step felt endless I felt so lost just Wandering through the night Everything was gray I had to trust you Go your way and That’s how I know I found the greatest love
[Bridge] There’s no way around it I had to step right through That’s when I found that It was always about you
[Verse] Once in a lifetime That’s what the poets say I choose to believe that We all find the truth Along the way When you seek, you‘ll find When you look up you Won't need proof of How I know I found the greatest love
[Instrumental Interlude]
[Verse] I was here waiting For a lifetime love That’s when you found me It took so long But now I clearly see You could not reach me So I learned to trust In God above That’s how I know I found the greatest love
[Outro] That’s how I know I found the greatest Love
I was given permission from Harlan Rogers to market this song, but since this is a performance how would that work? I would have to have a new piano player and sax player do it? I know I posted lyrics for it, but just as instrumental it would be so good in a movie or for sync. (maybe?)

Did the performers sign a release for this? You'd have to know that first. The performers would sign something like this: "I hereby waive any and all rights whatsoever in connection with the master recording(s) hereunder and the records, including any and all royalties or other payments in connection with the sales of the records". Harlan Rogers should know this. Good luck!
Thank you for the extra info John. I will call Harlan and see if he has any current contact info for these two artists. I have tried multiple times to reach to them but they don't reply to posts on youtube I guess, but again, thank you for the guidance.
