Well I used to play writer's nights almost every week when I was in Nashville. I live a little farther out now so, not as often now. funny, my most requested song was the Barbie Song! hahha

There is something about this song that grips me. I love the harmonies in your original.

Good tweeks there......... You already know what love can do... <<, not sure it fits. the point of the song is that ....if she doesn't believe in love..... "then that's what the universe will give her"..


So the secret is............. you have to believe in love in the first place cus if you don't, you're never gonna find it.

Well I looked back and couldn't find it either, so I thought I would just toss it to you. Love to hear your theory!

Supper time here. I didn't have time to listen to the music. But wanted to a least read the lyric.

I Think Barbie song is most requested because it gives us the audience a warm happy place to once again image a world where everything is taken care of, where there are no worries, where all is happy and secure....like an emotional hug.

As opposed to say, Thats Where You Were, which is excrutiating sad, which we all have experienced, which we really like as an audience, because it cuts our emotion so bare....with the truth.
And then we are returned to our days when all is sweet and easy with Barbie. Both are needed. One tears apart. the other puts us back together.

Funny you should say that. Indeed I would get comments from audience and other writers. the Barbie song is almost bitter sweet though because they're trying to hide from their fighting parents. so it's not all sunshine and roses... but it's what a child imagines life is supposed to be like.

The truth is my daughter who was around 6 at the time, had two brothers who certainly didn't wanna play barbies with her, so one day she said "If I be Barbie, will you be ken".................... and that's how that song got started and why I would never change that line.
