Well it says couch grouch , What I was doing with Dom , is I heard his voice a couple years ago , Thought he sang good , So I encouraged him to go to the studio . But no avail , its push buttons , whatever
In alll honesty it took a while, but many feel I had a marketable voice. I always thought if my voice as something I use to do my songs to
Never took lessons, decent range, but very technical, but I can sound really really good. My buddie mom every time she heard me dung she'd say your voice belongs in recurfsm
That said, I don't need a studio to sing. The tech fir home recording is really good if looking for radio quality then maybe a studio
N
You want compete as an artist its better be studios and session players to compete against radio ready Suno songs. But I have mental Illness, So maybe just keep pushing buttons and forget the whole nightmare to beat robots

We’re all built from the same dust and dreams, Different roads, but the same means.
Kay-Lynn, apparently Sunset is “unapologetically” writing for himself and not following any craft or community norms. That’s fine—everyone can approach songwriting however they want. But many others do take the craft seriously, and they share their work because they want to improve. That doesn’t make them prima donnas; it just means they have a different purpose here than he does. Dismissing people who actually want thoughtful critique as “validation-seekers” is unfair, inaccurate, and, frankly, a bit self-absorbed.
Rob,
In defense of myself, my remark and what I believe to be factual, I have a a couple of questions for you;
In commenting on one of YOUR OWN SONGS here, did you not write...
"I LOVE WHAT I WROTE"....?
Yet, your accusation is that I am "a bit self-absorbed?"
You embody my assertion that most people are here for validation and dont truly want to hear what someone else thinks is wrong with their song. Someone who would write "I love what I wrote," is clearly their own biggest fan and proclaimed themselves to be excellent without need for further comment or critique.
Perhaps we should stop replying to a person who has mental issues?
Fucke you Kaye,. and your AI songs. You got a vangina , thats why there kissing your ass, typical fuckin women
Elvis
One refreshing thing about the lady is that she seems reasonably grounded in common-sensical reality. She also lives in Nashville and writes songs.
I understand that she insulted your mental health, but you post a lot of crazy looking stuff and seem to actively enjoy doing it. If you are going to do that, you should expect some cracks coming back to you.
What you wrote above is wretched and should get you banned, but won't. At the least, you should apologize to the lady for being so vitreolic and using such hateful language.

Marty (Sunset), yes, I did say “I love what I wrote” about one of my own songs. There’s nothing wrong with being proud of something you created. Every songwriter—amateur or pro—has moments where a song comes together in a way that feels right to them. That doesn’t mean they don’t want critique. It just means they’re satisfied with what they tried to achieve. In fact, I don’t post the songs I’m unhappy with. I only share the ones where I feel the idea is solid—because those are the ones worth refining. Being proud of a draft and being open to feedback are not opposites. What you’re calling “self-absorbed” is actually just normal creative satisfaction. What would be strange is posting a song and saying, “I hate what I wrote.” Why would anyone do that? And again, none of that supports the claim that “most people are only here for validation.” Many of us post songs specifically to hear what works and what doesn’t. Liking your own work and wanting constructive critique can both be true at the same time.
Couchgrouch is still here. I talked to him the other day. I had to get him back on line a couple months ago, he might be having trouble getting on again. I will have to check in on him.

Wow, I totally forgot about Jason, he actually evaluated a few of my songs and was pretty gracious, and yeah, I read his book too. Write whatever you like, I'm down with that. not a problem.
I like to hear other people's melodies and structures. Jason's book is really just a basic building block for country music, nothing more or less than that.
I will say, however, the formula has worked for many many years. LOL Maybe that's just because how our brains work? ie. tell me the story, tell me the point, continue the story, tell me the point again, give me a juicy change in melody, then tell me the point again. sounds easy, but it's really not.
Of course I'm no Taylor Swift or Freddy Mercury.................(damn, can't believe I put those two in the same sentence) but it is, what it is.
I'm a Carly Simon fan myself.....James Taylor, Cat Stevens... I know, I'm old.. LOL
Jason is a JPF Mentor. He used to come on here and would likely come back if we didn't have a bunch of whiners and complainers fighting each other post after post. Several others have talked to me about coming back,m but I have told them all to hold off until the board is updated. I am trying to get the site updated but hit multiple snags. Once we get it up and running we will start bring people back in. No new people have been able to join for 4 years unless I manually enter them. We get about 200 attempts a week to join. I suspect even 20-30 new people here and we will be able to isolate the problems from each other and proceed. It is clear several WANT to be banned, so maybe they will finally get their wish. But one thing at a time.

Last warning for you EVER. Do not EVER attack a woman on this site in that way. Disagree, attack an argument, critique a song negatively, but this is not going to repeat Ben. WTF is wrong with you? I asked her to come back and this is how you treat her? She is here on MY behalf, trying to add some quality and sanity. There are a LOT of others who are waiting for the big three to either behave like humans or go away. Now, you are at the top of the list. Nothing Japov, Dom or Marty have done even approaches this. Stop it immediately or leave, one way or another. I would tell you to apologize but coming from you it would mean nothing. It's sad what you have become dude.

The biggest problem that your site has is the way you manage it. With you, it is always somebody else's fault.
I dont attack people indiscrimately. I hand people their crap back, who you allow to repeatedly attack me and call out my name...such as YOU did here.
Elvis blurted out this vitreolic garbage because you have allowed JAPOV do it so incessantly that it has become the main attraction on your site.
Take a lesson from 99% of other forums and FB pages.
Stay focused on the mission (music in this case). No politics. No religion. No name calling. no incessant arguments.
Fail to do that and get the same, easily predicted result, that you have gotten for years. And when you do, take responsibility for it. Don't blame me.
Man here I thought Brian might have "left us be" as hopeless cases and that one day we would come to see what is going on and the site is down.
In that vein I pmd KayLynn about saner places she might try Brian...sorry. I did not know she was your invite.
And thank you for rising to defend Kay Lynn and Elvis you can remove that offensive language yourself and apologize for the bad moment. We all have them
And extending one another some grace and courtesy and respect would go a long way to creating an environment that people want to share their music in.
Sorry this place has devolved into this and I know I have played my own role in the political discussions. Religion I tend to stay out of because I respect all faiths and their followers and that if you look beyond our differences you find real flesh and blood people with much the same needs and aspirations as you do.
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop
Comparing this dated online songwriter forum to an old bar on the edge of town — full of fading dreams, stubborn hope, and lovable misfits who still keep coming back. I guess you might call this the JPF song. John mentioned the two things we need more of here: courtesy and respect. This thread is a perfect reminder of that.

I like Ben too but there's an arrogance about him that many dont see cause he hides it weli see why the girl got mad, he makes surface l level, basic patsls on the back comments, but when he posts a song he expects alot more in return Sounds good man is such a comment

There's a psychological thing called contract-with-the-world Dom.
It's when a person decides that other people are obligated to respond in a way that they consider to be appropriate reciprocation. Though there is nothing written or even understood to be binding.
"Sounds good man" is in your head. What you think that his expectations are...is in your head. What you think that his response should be...is in your head.
You comment how you comment. Elvis comments how he comments. I comment how I comment. Kay-Lynn (sp) comments how she comments. (too many first names)
If you want to give someone a "master class" in the failings of their song, that fine. Buckle up though. Because very few people really want to hear it. And if you press it, as you often do, an argument is a certainty.

said nothing about failing, you choose to see negativity in it. "great title", well conceived, good writing, "love this line.... great riff, great melody. love the bridge those are things songwriters spend their time on, they dont spend it on sound, particuarly when suno is doing the sound. Hes basicly crediting suno and not you. its akin to sending a demo off to session players. sounds good? ok, but what about my role, etc. leaving the writer to say, oh i must suck.
and when he posts, he doesnt get comments like that. so he believes hes the real songwriter of the clan
And i know he knows what hes doing when hes making those comments.
so let me rephrase your comment, ben comments the way ben comments FOR a reason.
it may well be true, and being nice, but to me its somebody who thinks hes better.
and you slowly, look to start fighting with me again, its like your not happy, your wish is for me to be off the site.
when i bring way more than you ever could to it
I suggest forgetting better and not better. If someone says "good song man," ...say thank you and forget it.
Yesterday I thought that Ben was wretchedly rude to the lady. I told him so. Seems you did not.
Today I thought that your summation of Ben has a lot more to do about you, than anything Ben did. I told you so. In addition, it seemed pointless to make that point.
Two days ago, I poured a foundation two hundred miles from Houston and I got to plan what's next. I've got some responsibilities re-surfacing for a Brewery that I designed in Houston. At 73, I'm all of a sudden too distracted to find a lot of extra time to argue with some guy named Dom on a song forum. Sorry to disappoint.
And writing songs is on hold for a while.
Maybe you can get me banned for not writing songs. Give it a shot.
