This is a new little song I've been working on. Just wondering if this is a keeper. Thanks to anyone who listens!

http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12774286

I can see you
and your Coke-bottle glasses
Talking blood and gases
Oxygen as it passes
It was funny
How they blew-up your eyes
And you always looked surprised
When you talked and surmised

Of the natural things
Creatures with wings
And the science of the eye
And how it dilates
And decisions made by primates

One day you said,
Please call me Micha
Gave a lecture on pica
Disorders of the poor and afflicted
I was addicted
To your mustache on my lips
Your hands on my hips

And the natural things
Creatures with wings
And the science of the eye
And how it dilates
And decisions made by primates

The day you went away
Took your Coke-bottle tears
All your gourmet beers
Said you still had years, to find yourself
But I found a garden
And I lay myself down
Watched the ants march around

With the natural things
Creatures with wings
The science of the eye
And how it dilates
And decisions made by primates
Made by primates

And decisions made by primates
Made by primates

Hey, Wendy. Smart and quirky, catchy melody. What's not to keep? This song can definitely stand on it's own two feet.

Wendy,
This just floored me. You have done something special. This is a substantial piece of work.

The lyric absolutely glistens with intelligence. The words are rich, dense, and effortless. Funny when I read the lyric I had no idea what the story was about. Then when I listened to the song, I instantly understood it.

The melody is just lovely. Your voice is really compelling. Your guitar picking is astounding. Your guitar sound makes me envious. What kind of reverb are you using? Do tell.

I won't go on and on and embarrass you, but this is really good.

Hi Wendy,

Your playing just keeps getting better. Are you still playing out? Sounding great so, good for you! Lyrically, this is really smart and sad and funny. I wouldn't expect anything less coming from you. smile So glad to see you're still at it. Love this:

Hey Wendy,

I thoroughly enjoyed very second of this tune. A definite keeper. I don't know if you are familiar with The Weepies, but I can definately see them doing this tune. Great stuff.

That title could have been great or terrible, but I think you pulled it off. Beautifully.

I have to say, many of your lyrics are borderline genius. A few lines have a slightly awkward cadence (example: When you talked and surmised). But if there's any rough, it's definitely diamond rough.

It reminded me a lot of the breathy intensity of Lisa Hannigan, only with less Irishness. Loved.

I thought it had not a catchy bone in it's body, but dammit, now you've got these 4 words stuck in my head about monkeys making choices, and I'm gonna have to explain it to people when they hear me belting it out in the kitchen...

Wendy,

Loved it girl, how can it be bad?? Fab lyric and very nice vocal on it...a far stretch from the kids yelling in the background right?? Love listening to your stuff on FB also, love the breathy part...nicely done!

As menitioned I love this. The quite space you leave in spots keeps you interested, and it's unique. I dont even care what it's about, it dont matter. if you produced this like a pop song ala Suzanne Vega, it could jump up a few notches.

Congrats on the top 10

Sounds very nice. Love the melody and the picking and mostly, the tone of your voice and the delivery. It is definitely worthy of a pro recording. I have no idea what the lyrics are about.

Apparently, this is "The Little Song that Could!"

Thank you guys so much for commenting on it. It will likely get an upgrade at some point. My band, Blackfoot Daisy, is working on an EP at the moment. So I now have a studio/producer who could help me with it. Eventually, we are planning on an album but that's going to take more time. I don't think it will be on our album because the Daisy stuff is Americana, folk, bordering on country and this song is a quirky singer/songwriter type thing.

But if you guys hear something for the "wish list" in terms of what would sound good for it, I am all ears. I could hear maybe some violin, better vox and maybe two guitars (lead over my simple picking).

What you are hearing now is a recording of me singing/playing it at my kitchen table using my digital recorder. I recorded it about a half an hour after I wrote it. I sometimes do that just to get it down and then I tweak it after that.

In terms of the song meaning, I should say that I feel it is about the difference between biology and reason. And it's basically a story about a girl who falls in love with a dude who wears thick glasses and talks a lot about science.

Definitely a clever lyric and beautiful melody to match. A "Diamond in the rough". Can't wait to hear the final recording if you decide to do it over.

WOW I loved it. I love the way the lyrics flow into each other as if line 3 were just an after thought to line 2, that was a continuation, a clarification of line 1. I can't describe it other than to say the lyrics and melody fit together incredibly well while giving the illusion of thoughts just rambling and flowing.

I love how his leaving could be thought of as one of those "decisions made by primates"

Great Melody, great lyrics, great song.

One of my favorite songs ever posted. I'm not even sure why, it's a rough recording, doesn't sound great, guitar a bit out of tune, but it pulls me in.

I think it's partly the voice, and the interesting lyrics. And the intimacy it has

This should be re done, but stay acoustic and right "there"

Fantastic, and only a scratch demo

Howdy,

I came over here a couple of weeks ago and saw this had been shared/bumped. Thanks for doing that, Fdemetrio. I am considering recording this for real. Have been for a long time but I felt like the original version of this just captured something that I'm not sure I could emulate now. I don't perform this song much, but over the years, the vocal melody has changed a bit in my head. I think I recorded this just after I had written it. Anyway, seeing this inspired me to download the original, put it into an AI splitter and treat the guitar and vocal a bit.

I added a synth pad to it as well and made a little video for it.

I always thought adding a cello might sound good. The other thought I had recently was to have the violin player in our band add his octave violin to it. The octave violin has a cello-like sound.

But for now, I like this synth pad.

Here's a soundcloud link if video is not your thing. https://on.soundcloud.com/8eDUICwjt17dSMUTpv

Thank you again for the bump! I have been recording a lot of stuff and releasing songs about once a month, so if you are interested you can follow me under Bog Witch Music or Wendy DuMond on social media. I'm still doing music like a crazy person. My band, Blackfoot Daisy, is also still very active in the Atlanta area.

JPF really gave me my start and I have never forgotten this!

That certainly is interesting lyrically , I'm not really getting the story . But it has a lot of feeling lines
The demo or recording sounds good . I imagine it would go over well at open mikes , Since some songs are poetry driven.

nice job Wendy

I don't perform this song much, but over the years, the vocal melody has changed a bit in my head. I think I recorded this just after I had written it. Anyway, seeing this inspired me to download the original, put it into an AI splitter and treat the guitar and vocal a bit.

I added a synth pad to it as well and made a little video for it.

I always thought adding a cello might sound good. The other thought I had recently was to have the violin player in our band add his octave violin to it. The octave violin has a cello-like sound.

But for now, I like this synth pad.
