Here is the good news for you, Trumps biggest problem by far is China.
If the US isolated Canada and drew a hard line, the US would be significantly inconvenienced but Canada would have to come to the table or choke out. It's a matter of size and export markets. My suggestion is to quit all the threats and tough talk and simply try to get along with the US. Trump is looking for fairness, not looking to be unfair. Realize that and tell the folks that the 51st state noise is just to fire up your TDS and get you in an agitated state. I bought a truck yesterday. They tried to do exactly that to me.
That is not the case with China. A throw down with China, which appears to be happening, will cause shelves to empty all over the place, and prices to go up...imo...which is all guess at this point. That is now the one concern that matters most. The next few months look ominous.

I don't think that the US and Canada are going to throw down. The US has a much bigger concern and it appears that the US is in-process of aligning its forces against that concern. But if they ever do and the US cuts Canada off from the market buys 3/4 of its exports, Canada would run out of oxygen long before the US.

The stock market is going down again. You ain't seen nothing yet. And the tariffs against China are still going up ... now 145%. If this goes on at the same rate it did during the past days, we'll be at 500% by the end of the month. China is the second largest holder of US treasuries! I read somewhere that if China dumps US treasuries, stock valuations come under pressure, mortgage rates rise which will cool the housing market and consumer spending and Federal borrowing costs will surge, straining an already ballooning deficit. Trump better be careful what he is doing.
And the tariffs against China are still going up ... now 145%. If this goes on at the same rate it did during the past days, we'll be at 500% by the end of the month.

China just raised tariffs on US imports from 84% to 125%. Now it's Trump's turn. What is he going to do? At these levels trading will halt altogether. The 1200$ iPhone will now cost 3000$. Trump says companies will compensate most of the tariffs. To me that statement sounds pretty stupid. Someone would have to explain to me how Apple can compensate 154%. There is no market in the US for those kind of products at that price. Americans will now probably drive across the borders to Mexico and Canada to buy the cheaper iPhones or switch to the competition. I always viewed Apple as one of the most iconic American brands. We'll see if they'll survive.

I read that ISUZU was involved in GMs particular 4 cylinder motor, but they no longer are. The motor was one of the misgivings I had about the Canyon. It's suppose to reach slightly over 300HP at some RPM, but it don't feel like it. Feels gutless. But I'm old and I don't need to haul anything but a dirt bike occasionally.
