Yes you'll need promotion , or sit like the other 8000 billion songs in Spotify, without promotion never to be heard again

Also, people don't buy music any more, so if a million people listen to your album it's free to them, so you'd get a quarter of a penny per kisten, you'd get 2,500 bucks with the unlikely million listens.
But it's not about money, and can't be about money.
Keep doing it if it's fun for you, that's the important part, you're your own greatest fan.
My advice with the above is to put the music everywhere where. Not just Spotify but anywhere you can put it,, especially niche places that music is not usually expected.... Podcasts, websites, blogs, anywhere where yours might get heard with little completion,
I know a guy whose song got alot of listens in a hair salon, cause his music somehow was heard on a hair salon website lol. Dance music
I had music played on sports websites, Yankees blogs.
Niche places online where you might be the only one with a song there.
It won't get you rich or make you famous, but can get you some listeners

You may be able to make a living working a region based at your home. If you can play the Songs live, you can sell hard-copy units at your shows, CD's, download cards, thumb drives, hats, t-shirts, stickers, pictures. Find out what sells and make sure you always have it available. Look around. See who's selling and what people are buying. Are they wearing hats and t-shirt from other musicians? Do they play CD's? Do they 'download' music? Sell them whatever they're buying. If you can't play live you may be able to lip-sync to the music, giving a live 'show', and selling merchandise, profitably. People want entertainment. You may be able to travel a region around your home base and make an adequate living. You may be able to travel out and come back and sleep in your own bed each night. You may develop a circuit of places you can come back to once a month, or six weeks, some schedule of regular shows, building a fan base who come to the venue, and spend money there, while you are the main attraction. If it works you will be financially able to travel further. Perhaps you should not expect to travel worldwide, to be the next big thing; just an entrepreneur, making a living in your 'region'. The world can wait until you're ready. On the picture of your album it says 'No' The Internet'. The title is 'On' The Internet'. Little things matter. In show business it is bad luck to say 'Good luck!' They say, 'Break a leg!, code for 'Good luck!' Break a leg, Irwin! Go to market. Sell them something. Several languages are spoken in Guyana. Learn some of those languages if you want to sell to them. Simple greetings and courtesies go a long way in winning fans.
There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

Question
Did you put it up, not having a ready audience of listeners? A fan base? Is this I've made music and I want to sell it on Spotify?
Will say this. It you have "it" and you "fit" and are any good, the right people will find you.
Fdom...like what you set about pitching where music typically isn't....I'm adding that element of chance encounter you were talking about in another context
And Ben too...you have to promote yourself yourself and that entails actual work and effort and organization and reaching out
Irwin, I expect your post is an example of you getting your "it" out there so good luck
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

Theres an old baseball expression "Hit it where they aint"
Putting music in same spot as superstars is equivalent to hitting it right to the gold glove center fielder.... But still have it on Spotify for legitimacy purposes

"Money is worst reason to be motivated NOT to do anything. Instead of letting those concerns STOP you, use it to motivate yourself to find an alternate solution that bypasses money. You will soon find that your own resourcefulness is worth far more than a pile of paper money." –Brian Austin Whitney
