She Looked Like Hell ©12-1-2024 Robert George
Christmas Eve in Dulles Airport Another delayed flight Each time they lost his luggage Was a thorn in Adam’s side Then she walked in that Chili’s Turnin’ ev’ry head Scarlet dress and auburn hair Fingernails a fiery red
She looked like hell Her heart was a bottomless pit Anyone who wasn’t careful Would fall into it No one knows Where temptation will strike And she looked like She looked like She looked like hell
She sat down beside him With a snakeskin purse And she cast an icy shadow Darker than a hearse She sipped an appletini And she kissed him with her eyes She spoke in secret whispers But all he heard were lies
She looked like hell Her heart was a bottomless pit Anyone who wasn’t careful Would fall into it No one knows Where temptation will strike And she looked like She looked like She looked like hell
She showed him a selfish kingdom But he never saw a thing Cos the light of faith reflected Off his wedding ring
She looked like hell Her heart was a bottomless pit Anyone who wasn’t careful Anyone who wasn’t prayerful Would fall into it No one knows Where temptation will strike And she looked like She looked like She looked like hell

Good story telling, sometimes it works out that way when you can see right through the mask and know it's not for you.
ON a separate note, and I hope you don't mind me asking, but a long time ago, maybe 10 years or more you posted a lyric and the only line I can remember of it was something like: "Just outside of Telluride, freezing rain and spitting snow" Did that ever become a recording? If so, I'd love to hear it.

Hi, Barry and thanks for the comments. I don't remember that lyric but I don't think it got a demo. I sure hope it didn't because those lines sound an awful lot like Almost Home by Craig Morgan. (one of the best songs of the past 40 years, Google it) Sometimes when you're writing, lines pop into your head, you think, "that's good" and you use it. You don't remember/see where they came from. Creative myopia. That's what happened to George Harrison with My Sweet Lord. it's happened to me a few times. but I generally catch it. I hope.

I think it was a song about a motorcycle ride, not sure why but it has always stuck with me. No need to Google it, that's probably top ten on my list of favorite songs ever. I love the story tellers. Yeah, I have a song where I used a phrase in a line, then later heard it in a song I'd heard a long time ago, it wasn't purposeful, but I did rip it off.
