Hey Robert,
Very introspective, this one. I like the references to Elvis and The Beatles. Do I also note a hint of Aerosmith in there, too? ("walked their walk")
No matter. I sense the feelings conveyed in the lyric; that of disillusionment and betrayal while simultaneously leaning toward possible "faith" in a "new hero"?

thanks for both of your comments. I can't comment with my phone anymore. JPF is glitching and won't let me go-in. I rarely have access to our tabletop. ps Elvis was a great singer.

Elvis is still the original American Idol and woulda won.
I think what the lyric is saying is that the heroes we fabricate are flawed and superficial.
Yet WE make them who they are it's just as much our fault
I think there's a reason that most artists best music is there earlier stuff.
More genuine. Later in it's about money, early in, it's not.
Nice lyric. It's hard to write spiritual music that hooks a listener
