This is posted by self appointed deputy sheriff Marty. I am not a moderator and I don't know how long this site will be here, but I just made a donation so I hope for a while yet. IMO this site is being smothered in vitriol, and songs have become incidental to arguments. This TROLL PATROL thread is a place where you can copy and paste someone's exact harassment of you, be it name calling, misc insults or just incessant harassment after you've asked them to leave you out of their world. It will give the moderators and owner one place to come look to see what is going on, rather than having to chase after insults that break the rules and are spread about the site.

My suggested protocol...
If someone puts up a song, comment on it if you like. Courteously.
If they rebuff your comment and you don't agree, comment and give your POV one more time, courteously...and drop it there.
If they start harassing you, put their comments on display here.

If we can create a calm and pleasant atmosphere, maybe some old posters will return and new ones will join in.

I like how you're thinking, Marty...I also believe the best way to handle a troll is to ignore them...don't respond to their critique of your post and don't critique their posts

I agree with you Steve, but if trolls are allowed to run free on a site, they wont stop if you ignore them. They feed on disruption and will destroy the site. IMO, that is what has happened to this site.

Brian made the point that he is not aware of a lot that goes on here and would act on it if he was. He proved that up. The point of the TROLL PATROL is to make it easy for him to see what is here.

Steve a culture has been created here where people only respond to Guys songs, and a few others.

That's collusion, resentment, and frankly dishonesty. Those qualities do not a site make. The music, not the person should be the subject of conversation

Not really Dom. It is not at all irrelevant. The bottom line is it costs at least $1200 to keep this online for another year. I will try to cover overages to a reasonable level, but if users value the site, time to put up or shut up. I realize your anonymity would make that impossible, so how about just not BEING a troll anymore? It is your 6K+ posts to use or lose. If X number of people pay to keep the doors open, I will keep them open. Scaring away every newbie so you can have ongoing fights with nearly everyone does not help anyone. If you don't want us to continue, we can help you out the door first. If other people continue to support us, I will keep it here forever. That simple really. Have some fun, agree or disagree without making it personal, and you can keep your current account as long as you want. You haven't "owned" anyone, ...of your arguments you are clearly on the losing side in well more than half. If you don't like someone's music, explain why and move on or simply don't listen. You can hit the "ignore" button just like everyone else.

BTW, I am not sure I like this post. Not really into tattletale boards. If there is an actionable problem, send it to me in a PM as rehashing bad behavior here just doubles it in the first place.

Id be donating to the site, not him. I started posted udio stuff several months ago, the site was a ghost town, not one new post, completely dead, i started posting udio stuff and then there was traffic.

Marty took it upon himself to ruin my experience, and attack every song i posted, simply because he wanted room for his own music.

i had invested years and decades of living experience and taking notes of myself in that music, it was amazing i could bring them all into a recording so fast, and very rewarding, a bit frustrating, and its not complete, but rewarding in a way. stuff id never thought id use suddenly had a place/

This bozo complety ruined that experience, and wont apoligize. He recruited others like Gavin, and Ben, Rob B to come into my thread and attack...robot this, robot that, suddenly Rob B thats all he does now is AI songs.

I dont view donating as a way to act and behave how i want to, i see it as keeping a site going. others clearly think donating enables them to treat people how they want to.

But keep it going how? Have my songs ignored, have them attacked, having people tell other people how great their jiberish is?

I could donate, but what benefit do i get? Ignored and harassed? Or is a donation suddenly going to change all that?

Which is a bit like payola.

and I know it's not you Brian, you need to keep the site going, but we buy on benefits. I find myself fighting off trolls all the time, what benefit is that?

Put up an occasional song.
Make polite comments on other people's songs.
No more than two on Any Given song.
Leave my name out of it. Leave Rob out of it. Leave anyone else that you want to criticize or personally attack , out of it
You can count on me not to comment on your songs or any other post that you originate.

If you do that, your world will be a better place and so will this website.

If your songs appeal to people, then they will make comments and that will be that.

In 25 years I have never used Admin privilege's to go into anyone's account (by the way if I ever did, it wouldn't be to read your email/private notes) but we DO have an ignore button, and you both could ignore each other entirely and it would be like the other person wasn't on the site. Instead, you guys are simply too attracted to the drama to stop cold turkey. If you're not careful, people will say you're in love!
