A couple years ago, I bought HOLLYWOOD STRINGS by EAST-WEST. I bought it to lay some strings in mixes. For me, it was difficult to start up and difficult to use. I had my computer rebuilt after a couple of years and it required reactivation and that was difficult. For my needs, it was too sophisticated and too much effort.
I just downloaded SPITFIRE's BBC ORCHESTRA for FREE! And it is effortless to use and gets the job done for me. If you add strings, it may be of benefit.

Good to know, strings are good at adding some depth and warmth, but always an issue of first of all really knowing how to play them (which is not really just padding over the chords, which is acceptable i guess.)
But also the issue of strings tending to sound cheesy and not being able to find one that really suits the song.
But im interested in something they will be the last things i add to the mix. But this thread reminds me of a question i wanted to ask out esteemed panel!

"A lot of people will tell you that preparation is what will make you successful. But I think that people misunderstand exactly what that means sometimes. The type of preparation you need most is the kind that allows you to instantly seize an opportunity, change your course based on a momentary circumstance, and grab hold of the totally unexpected when it happens, and allow it to take you for the ride of your life! That is the kind of preparation that can lead to the most enjoyable type of success." -Brian Austin Whitney
