I've always liked folk music. Not the "Hey nonny no" type. More like the Gordon Lightfoot, John Prine and Steve Earle style to name a few.
Not written for any reason other than pleasure.

Loves me. Loves me not 2021 Vic Arnold

V1
I know a woman from up the line.
We meet up now and again.
Warms me up like summer shine.
Then cools me down like winter rain.
Sugar sweet and twice as fair.
Like a willow, bends and sways.
There's no one like her anywhere.
Seems no method in her ways.
Ch.
But she loves me.
Sometimes she loves me not.
Sometimes cold, sometimes hot.
Blows through my door like a hurricane,
through my mind then out again.
V2
Has her thoughts set on her dreams,
travelling down her winding road.
I help her find the way it seems.
Happy just to share the load.
One day maybe, don't know when,
from her misty far off place,
she'll come back to my arms again.
Spend some time in my embrace.
Ch.
But she loves me.
Sometimes she loves me not.
Sometimes cold, sometimes hot.
Blows through my door like a hurricane,
through my mind then out again.

Hey Vic,

I like this bluegrass/folk tune. I really like your use of the maybe considered a cliche expression "loves me-loves me not." It works well however and with the melody, I didn't find that disconcerting although the professional critics would love to jump on that. This song has kind of a marching feel in places which is unique for folk music, but is pretty cool. This tune would make a good soundtrack and maybe be used in a cinematic production.

This is a real nice write Vic, I do like it and how you have it arranged.

Good one!

Thanks Edddie.
At first I thought about the cliche but couldn't find a song with it in apart from a song called "Loves me not" which is only half a cliche, :-)

Thanks for taking the time.

Hi Vic,
started to listen, shut it down and went to get a hot cup of coffee...sat down..put my feet up, and let it play.
I really like this style of music, and it just seemed to fit the day here. its gloomy, a little cool. the kind of day you want to sit back and remember pieces of life.

This song took me right there, very well done Vic, good lyric and music. I`ve always liked your singing you do that well.
nice job. Lane

Hey there Vic.....I really enjoyed this. Is that a live band? or Bandcamp? It's a great production, regardless.
The music is rich and warm. The lyrics are beautiful. Love the whole story.
Great hook!
Very nice..........

Hi Tom.

The band is almost all BIAB 2021 Audiophile dragged into my DAW and manipulated some.
Mastered with Ozone.

Always enjoy hearing your skills come to life. as you weave a story that touches souls and then preach it gently in your soothing voice, making it all so believable. Superb song that held my ears to the last note. Catchy and also quite a nice dance number as well.
Gordon would approve of this one for sure.

Very good, Vic. A nice wistful folky lyric and a tune that fits it like a glove. I know you said it was BIAB, but the fiddle made me think of Dave Swarbrick and Fairport Convention.

Hmm! Fairport Convention. That'll do me.

It is BIAB but not straight out of the BOX. It needed fiddling with (excuse the pun)

Vic.

I think Gavin mentioned Fairport I thought of Lindisfarne, but however you hear it it is a good folk song.
I enjoyed the instrumentation as well as the vocal and lyric.
Yes a good song Vic

Pretty good song. I didn't have any issues whatever with the alleged 'cliche' - your treatment of the lyrics as a whole made it work in a fresh way. Overall, I thought it was catchy.

What I liked most was the varied instrumentation and Americana vibe. What I didn't like was when the strummed acoustic enters just before the first chorus - to my ears it was kind of jarring. I would find a way to make this transition smoother. Also, it might work better if the changeup ocurred ON the top of the chorus instead of before it.

Nicely done!

Peace,
TC

This sounds really good to me. Nice work worth BIAB!

You sing it very well. The verses have a very laid back style with the lower register. I like it as is but do feel it would carry more emotion with the verses in a higher register or at least some harmonies in there.

Your choice of course. Just my thoughts.

Good work Vic.

Thanks Ricky.
I may have to change gender to get the higher register though.

It's never too late? Yes it is, so do it now.

Hi John.
Thank you and yes, BIAB does need a bit of cut and past.
Doesn't work too well out of the box (excuse the pun).
