An oldie but goodie about relationships ending, and accepting the facts.
"Walkin' Down The Road (Without Me)" Out Of The Woodwork Copyright 1990 by Gary E. Andrews All Rights Reserved for the Globe
Chords: (1) X32O3O G 320003 C X32010 Cmaj7 X32000 D XX0232
Verse I Soon you'll be sippin' coffee, And settin' your cup, On a table, That I've never seen. You'll be walkin' on walks, And talkin' in talks, With your new-found friend, Not me. You'll be pickin' up pieces, Replacin' parts, Puttin' fresh plaster in the holes in your heart,
(Chorus Refrain) Walkin' Down The Road Without Me, Oh-oh, Walkin' Down The Road Without Me.
Verse II They'll throw a newspaper, Onto your front porch, That I won't be there, To read. You'll cook up somethin', And when it gets scorched, You won't have to serve it to me. You'll put soup for one, In your grocery cart, Wallpaper over the cracks in your heart, Drop stale bread to make a real fresh start, Walkin' Down The Road Without Me, Oh-oh, Walkin' Down The Road Without Me.
(Bridge) Wo-wo, So I never will darken your doorway at night, Never will turn off, Your bedroom light. We never will argue, we never will fight, you see--, You'll never have to kiss me on the mouth, I guess. You'll never know the joy of our safe sex, Or kiss me 'til I tremble like a nervous wreck, You'll be Walkin' Down The Road Without Me, Oh-oh, Walkin' Down The Road Without Me.

My webmaster has put a new player on my site, but it is only playing snippets. Snippets don't work for me on other people's Songs. I need to hear the whole thing. We're working on it. Oh! Just realized there's no track for this one, snippet or full length!

I really like this, put a smile on my face with some of the lines especially the safe sex one. One thing I would change though is remove the "wallpaper over the cracks in your heart" line in verse 2. Because it almost repeats the last line in verse 1 plus adds an additional line which could mess up the melody.
I'm a lyricist with original lyrics available for all recording purposes, open to collaboration so if interested please see my website. http://www.penkslyrics.com

Good eye PENKSLYRICS. I've played that Song a hundred times and never noticed there was an extra Line! I was okay with the repeated concept of plaster/wallpaper, but now I'm not! LOL Now if I can just unlearn it! Welcome back.

This is real good Gary, It reads like it could be either classic or modern country to me not knowing your melody.
I thought that extra line was maybe a copy and paste error while posting the lyric.
