Interesting tune. I like some of the elements you got going.
The 'slice and dice' you do is cool and all, but you are halting momentum too much in the tune. I would play some of the slicey dicey stuff off against other stuff that keeps going. This will give you the modern slice and dice but keep the momentum moving forward.
I can clearly hear some of the edits as well. You may wanna try and make these a bit less obvious.
I would also interpose more lyrics in between the repetitive parts such as "I wanna be loved" to make the hook stand out more.

I like the lyric a lot!
The production doesn't let the song move as far as my ear would like. I feel like every time it moves a couple of yards, you yank it back to square one, and it's disruptive enough to make me feel like the song doesn't actually ever launch. So by the time it's over, I feel a bit cheated. Like I didn't get to enjoy your song.
I realize this is a style, and I probably just don't "get it", so don't take any of this personally. I'm usually in the minority on stuff like this. I do like the lyric.

You touched on a universal theme here, Irwin, but I think it takes guts for a person to admit he or she wants to be loved.

Irwin- the lyric kinda reminds me of "knock three times on the ceiling if you want me", which is probably before your time - I'm curious where the singing is from, how you put it together and are you wanting a rhythm track to go under this? Maybe there's someone on the forum that could do that? Pete
