Not sure how this will play. I've been working on a CD real slow, paying for the whole effort in gigging money... so when I run out of cash, production stops, I do a few more weeks of performing, and then we do some more work on the CD. So the thing is, the recordings I have are always what I have so far. This still has my scratch track reference vocal, not final vocals. I think the instrumentation is pretty well set, but I wouldn't call it a final mix. My solution is always to just crank it up in the car. A car stereo just seems to fix all mixing problems. Anyway, this is a song of regret. But Anyhow [v1] Ten miles from nowhere, busted up in a ditch, flashing lights, sirens, a night as black as pitch. I hope they don't find me, coz I just want to die. See I once I had me a woman, and she loved me so true, but that was not enough, no, it could never do, so I left that poor girl just to see her cry. [ch] And I don't know how and I don't know why it just seemed too much like getting by so maybe I need you right now, but anyhow... [v2] Three miles from a hospital in an ambulance bed, with a couple of bruises, and a bump on my head. "You were lucky today, he said, judging from the scene." And then he asks me, Is there anyone he should call? but the look on my face says there's no one at all. That ship has long since sailed, if you know what I mean. [ch] And I don't know how and I don't know why but this always feels like do or die baby I need you right now but anyhow... [br] Snow fills our footprints, without a sound. Walk up to her doorstep, or turn around boy, there's still time, put the bottle down. [v3] Two miles from her place it's down a hill, and 'cross a field. It's been two weeks and all but my hollow heart has healed. When that onion gets peeled, this world is gonna cry. [ch] And I don't know how and I don't know when, but I'm gonna try to win you back again. Oh baby I need you right now, but anyhow...

Interesting song - pretty dark but it went more smoothly in performance than in looking at the lyric - the music was pretty mellow and the Dire Straits kinda guitar was nice - more talking than singing - But anyhow it was petty good.--Pete

Hey Pete. Thanks for listening. I'm glad you liked it.
Yes. Dark, full of self-pity... comes from a place in my life I'm trying to put behind me.
I'm happy with the way the guitars came out. That's all Colin, the guy recording me. It does have kind of a Dire Straits sound to it.
"more talking than singing"... hah!!! That's my 4 note range!
Thanks for the comments.
John
