I like the rock/swing feel with this, kinda like a little Dire Straights. The lyrics really stand out with this'n and capture your attention while sitting on a very nice rhythm of music. Smooth performance by all, very professional. (Although I'd like to see a different hat on you, maybe a tweed fedora tipped a bit low)?
Great job all, please express my thoughts to the band!
I'm listening while I'm writing after making a "run-through" at the lyrics first.
The words are crafted well and sing in perfect time. To me, it's folk to a rock beat and I really enjoyed the story and performance. The title threw me off a bit... but I've always found that if the song is "strong enough"... it can survive whatever you call it! LOL! This one will survive and has a great deal of potential to become what we used to call, "A Hit!"
Best wishes for success and thanks for sharing. ----Dave
Yep, works for me. The song itself is mournful, but it all works with an upbeat arrangement, and a bit of a surprise from the title.
The camera shots, framing and editing are all working well.
Small nit ? I'd re-edit the bits where you're reading from the lyric sheet. It gives the impression that you're "going through the motions" where that's not the case in the sound you're producing.
I'd either keep the eye line looking out to the audience, or between the band members, or introspective.
Thanks and glad you like it. I also like the Dire Straits comparison! One of my favorites. As to the hat, I am told that baseball caps suit me....almost nothing else does except possibly this one that one of my young female friends likes!
One of my worst weaknesses is the lack of natural ability to spew words forth from memory, especially under pressure. As to editing the video, it was truly live and mixed on the fly by others, so my only recourse would be to place another layer on top of the bits you mentioned. I might give that a go.
Nice Dire Straits kinda sound, but the great lyric helps elevate this song to something special, and it ends up feeling pretty original, in the big picture. Pretty tight live sound you got there!

Fate doesn't hang on a wrong or right choice Fortune depends on the tone of your voice
-The Divine Comedy (Neil Hannon) from the song "Songs of Love" from the album "Casanova" (1996)
Yup, on board this one and I also got the DS and JJC vibes...so defintely in good company.
If there is one nit, it is that I absolutely love the "Someone has to bury all the bodies" and I really really really really wanted that to remain as the hook
Still happy to hear it again
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop
John, Thanks for the comments and glad you like it. I also like the hook "Someone has to bury all the bodies", but it doesn't make much sense with the other stories....jury's out.
Thanks. That is a very fancy studio at Full Sail University with nothing but top-end equipment. All the production staff are students. They did some great camera work and the lighting is worthy of a TV studio. I mixed the sound tracks myself at home afterwards.
Thanks. Glad you like it and I am happy with Dire Straits references! We like Telecasters. We both own Mexican Standard Teles, plus I have a Korean Squier and they all do the job. $300 will get you a good used or on sale one. Do it!
