[size:17pt][color:#00CCCC]Average Mojo (VIDEO) [size:14pt][color:#00CCCC]Average Mojo (AUDIO ONLY) Sometimes we don't wish for the best outcome...just one that's a little better Janice and I have long wanted to do a "swamp blues" song. I attempted to write a song in this style and asked our friend Peter if he’d be willing to join in with his guitar. He agreed and offered up some cool guitar and harmonica tracks that were right in the genre pocket. The project was quite a vocal departure for Janice vocally and even more so after I went with more "grit" in processing her vocal. Perhaps an obscure genre but we did have a lot fun producing it. And, yes, there is a lot of distortion, tube sims, saturated tape sims, vintage compression sims and a hot mix. Goes with the style! Janice agreed to me using a recent photo of her in the intro/outro page of the video. Now that is a first! Oh BTW, a "gris gris" is a good luck amulet. As always we are appreciative of your time to listen and comment! J&B For those of the technical inclination: Vocal: Janice - processed with Izotope Nectar 2 Drums: BiaB RealDrums - processed with Izotope Alloy 2 Bass: BiaB RealTrack - processed with Izotope Alloy 2 Rhythm Guitar/Solo Guitar/Harmonica: Peter - processed with whatever he does I put a hint of overdrive amp sim on the harmonica. Mixed in Logic Pro X and mastered with Izotope Ozone 7 Advanced using a host of vintage modules

Hi J&B:
I listened (no video) and as always, enjoyed the work you guys do. Going a little out of your normal vibe and comfort zone is a good thing and you brought the house down. The blues harp and guest guitar certainly added "authenticity" to the mix.
Just so you'll know I'm not a "hanger on" always handing out praise with the idea you'll return the favor... I hope you will consider changing the drums if you ever decide to re-cut the song... or possibly add more bass. That said, I believe you two are phenomenal 'artists" in your musical partnership. A real credit to JPF. ----Dave (the other one)

Hey guys,
I like the slow as molasses vibrato shimmer to this swamp thing you've created...I might drop the bg guitar in parts and let the bass and harmonica create the space and then let the lead guitar bounce in and out... Good stuff!

Thanks Calvin. Peter's guitar made this song. I was about to bail on it until I asked if he'd have a go at feelin' the swamp." J&B

Hi Bud and Janice, I love the heavy bottom British blues sound here, from the tremoloed guitar to Janice's cool vocals stylings. Another winner from y'all.. Mike

A real credit to JPF. ----Dave (the other one) Thanks Dave...we've stuck a fork in this one production wise. The drums are played by Shannon Forest and the bass by Dow Tomlin -- both are big name session guys. As you know all of the BiaB tracks are by real folks and big names one at that. I'm a work in progress with drums as they are relatively new to me having been a bluegrass player for decades; however, I did play a lot of bass over the years and I felt this track worked well. But we always appreciate a different perspective and certainly have never viewed you as a sycophant! Your use of the word "authenticity" is exactly what we were looking for with for this attempt at a Tony Joe White groove. His current stuff is amazing. Thanks again for listening and commenting. J&B Hey guys,

iggy2 Thanks! I'll admit to struggling with the balance of such few tracks. Hard to hide anything with a sparse production for sure. I understand and appreciate your perspective. FWIW my reference for this mix was Rain Crow and Hoodoo by Tony Joe White. I sorta let his production guide me. I'll pass your comment about the vibrato on to Peter. He really did a fine job. Thanks again J&B That was awesome! Great production. Perfect feel. Very enjoyable. That's how it's done! Dave Thanks Dave...glad it worked for you! J&B Hi Bud and Janice, I love the heavy bottom British blues sound here, from the tremoloed guitar to Janice's cool vocals stylings. Another winner from y'all.. Mike Thanks for mentioning the vocal and the guitar Mike. This was an experiment for all three of us although Janice and I have listened to this style for quite a while. J&B Very swampy! I can smell the bayou! Enjoyed my listen. Well done to all involved. Ricki He Ricki, glad you can smell the swamp! That is good. J&B

I really dig this song... Just me, I'm on the 6th play, plus your other videos. I don’t like this mix. You can still keep the feel and make it more pronounced. Needs some hi tone, screaming guitar. Drums are weak and I want to hear that snare snap. I LOVE the Vocals but they are monotone, needs phrasing, hit it up in words like juju spell… Singer is too… hum? Just singing the words…Too safe… Needs to breakout of the envelope. Ad some gravel. This gal is a good singer but I’m telling you… She needs to break out of her box. She will be amazing… This is what I hear, just me… Peace! Dave

Spelling and grammer are not my thing, so excuse the type-Os... Iffin I don't review your song, sorry, I'm trying to stay with styles I like. But I do listen to all on 2 pages when I have time.

Tony tends toward a monotone repetitive phrasing style. And that is what Janice was shooting for (when you checked out some of our other songs perhaps you heard Soul Stealer which is much more representative of Janice's blues styling). He also eschews high tone screaming guitar. Here's an example of his style https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NA3PVW0hZq8Thanks for listening, commenting and offering your perspective. J&B

"The standard by which I now measure the things in my life is the following: If I was on my death bed, or if I knew I had a short time to live, would this issue be important? If the answer is no..
