It appears the heat in the kitchen is getting unbearable for Clinton's Foundation.
Maybe it is time for those old Hank Snow songs. THE GOLD RUSH IS OVER and NINEY MILES AN HOUR (Down a dead end Street).
Or RING OF FIRE by Johnny Cash!

Hilary would make a great President. She already has no shame and can lie on command so easily. Forget Benghazi, that's not a scandal. The biggest scandal that I saw was when she lied about being under sniper fire in Bosnia. She said she misspoke. That's not something you misspeak. She's a dragon. She'll look you in the eyes and lie and not bat an eyelash. Something all world leaders need to be good at to be good at their jobs.
As for the Republicans, they have no one remotely good enough to take on Hillary. Their views do not go coincide with most Americans on many issues. If Republicans don't grow with the American public then they'll find themselves in deep trouble in the coming years.
Get ready for another 4 years of a Democrat being Prez.
Just a Canadians opinion on the issue. We get more American news than Canadian news it seems. If you want my opinion on other American news I'll be glad to give it too.

Hi Ray and Aaron:
The thought of another four years of Democratic misgovernment is not a pleasant scenario. Having put up with the Clintons in Arkansas, I understand firsthand the depth of their twisted desire for power and ill gotten gains.
Aaron, I would not even attempt to advise you on how Canadian Politics are going to turn out this next round... but if you believe the liberal press about Saint Hillary's chances... please remember that the democrats were handed a stunning defeat in the last mid-term election. Both houses of government were returned to the control of the Republicans.
Those of you who believe this woman has real leadership qualities are wearing blinders or have been totally brainwashed by the "nanny state."
Growing with the American Public?.. Aaron... what does that mean? The American public is made up of two polarized camps of folks with different views on how this country should be governed. One believes in free enterprise and a reasonable model of democracy... while the other believes in taxing, spending, stealing, lying and traitorous treachery.
If the democrats win... it will be by deceit and cunning... making the winning of WWII a slap in the faces of God Fearing Men and Women from every walk of life. You are seriously wrong when you state that no Republican Candidate is capable of defeating Mrs. Clinton. I contend that Walker, Huckabee and several others will send her packing back to her New York Mansion to repair her destroyed server.
Thanks for your opinion. At least for now, we live in a free world when compared to most of the Islamic Nations.
Frankly, Aaron... we don't get much real news from the American Press. Both Fox and CNN have their own agendas and spend way too much time trying to "dumb us down" without informing us about what is going on in the real world, not to mention the important news relating to the United States.
I can get more facts (albeit skewed) from the Communist Chinese than either of these Big Media Outlets. Even Reuters is guilty of yellow journalism.
I don't need a team of panelists to tell me what to think. Just give me a man like Edward R. Murrow who read the news without comment... and let the listener decide for himself what is the actual truth.
How about we send you a couple of million illegal immigrants to overburden your country's budget? Feel free to take a significant number of Muslims off our hands, while you are at it. They neither love nor respect our Two Countries or our Culture.
I am grateful that you and I are free to have this kind of discussion and please don't think for a moment that I do not respect your right to express your views.
Regards,
Dave Rice

What are you talking about Muslims for? The US barely has any Muslims. 0.6 % of your population are Muslim. You need not worry about Muslims. They won't be taking over your country
You cited Huckabee as someone who can take on Hillary and Huckabee is on record as saying "gay marriage will lead to criminalisation of christianity". That's a bit kooky.
I never claimed to support Hillary. I wouldn't vote for her. She isn't liberal enough for me. She's a conservative.

We had a Canadian politician say that schools should be given the choice to teach evolution and that he was a creationist. You know what happened to him? He was shamed on a national level for two straight weeks and his status as an MP has been diminished. He only came out now as a creationist because he wasn't gonna run in a re election this fall. And he is part of the Conservative party. Hell our PM is an evengelical but he never mentions it and he hardly talks about God or his faith.
That is Canada. This is the way it should be. Keep your religion to yourself.
It's funny how we have God in our national anthem and the US was founded on the separation of church and state and yet Canada is more of a separation of church and state than the US is. Try to figure that out.
There's no way a Canadian politician could have a pray for rain rally and get away with it without being mocked by the whole country(even christians). Or get away with saying you can pray the gay away. If you have to use religion to pander to voters aren't you using religion for self gain? And isn't that like a really bad thing in gods eyes?
For anyone who thinks America and Canada are similar, you are wrong, you are dead wrong.
But hey run it as you see fit. I'll just watch the circus

Humm, How much more liberal do you want Hillary to be? Because of Liberal Politics over the last 100 years we now have an 18 Trillion dollar Federal debt of which, by the way affects not only us here but the world as well. You want the State to control everything. That is what they had in the old Soviet Union, of was such a smashing success it no longer exists. When we left the 1930's there were big social programs put in place to prevent those problems from happening again. Well, somebody didn't get the message so we are headed right back to the 1930's. Let's see. High unemployment, millions on food stamps, overloaded with illegals, etc. Got a Fiddle?

You can blame liberalism for your 18 trillion dollar debt if you'd like but maybe it has more to do with all of the unncessesary military conflicts and military bases that you have spread out all over the planet? (Basically the same reason USSR went under, by trying to outspend the US militarily, it played a big role in their collapse, same thing is happening to the US) Just a thought.
My kind of liberalism is, legalize and regulate most drugs (keep the ones like meth illegal), This one is controversial but I'd make some people who fit certain criteria get sterilized so they cannot procreate. I'd implement a basic income of about 20,000 per year. It's good for the economy, good for the poor, good for the healthcare industry and would be good morale. A happy country is a prosperous country. Cheaper & affordable medication. I'd make rape and murder more years in prison and less years for the lesser crimes. Free rehab for those who seek it in drugs and alcohol - it'd be treated as a health issue instead of a criminal issue. Assisted suicide for those who can make their own choice and are lucid to make that choice. Harsher gun restrictions. I guess you can see where I am going and will not expect you to move to this utopia of Aaron. LOL.. There will be no illegal immigration. I will deport them all as well.

Whazzat?, Ye would do all those things, would ye Aaron? What do you think they were doing in the old Soviet Union, Making Vodka? That's what Obama is trying to do. Not making Vodka, spreading the wealth around, to China, India, Canada, Mexico, etc, etc. Got a fiddle?

What I see happening is a race to the bottom by the way of globalization. Moving jobs to countries that have no workers rights which gets blamed on the liberals because liberals believe in regulations, workers rights and a minimum wage. It's not our fault that corporations would rather pay some poor worker 4 dollars rather than 10. The companies are just trying to make a profit right? That's always the conservatives response. More concerned about the millions or billions in profits for the company or corporation who pays little to no taxes instead of beijg concerned about the people who do the actual work. And a lot of these people work another job or are on food stamps while these corporations make their billions in profits. Race to the bottom. Then you have politicians wanting no min wage. LOL. It's just a joke.
You have robots and machines replacing people in a lot of jobs. Less training. One person doing the job of 2 or 3 people. Most jobs now are part time or temporary so that corporatons can pay less.
What's gonna happen to the people who are replaced?
In the near future a lot of countries will be trying a basic income type program. Give people under a certain threshhold enough to live on every month, so maybe 1500 per month. That money goes back into the economy via rent and grocceries. It wouldn't be enough to throw at toys and electronics and fun things. It's either that or things get so bad that people revolt and there's an uprising. you call it spreading the wealth. I call it trying to save society. Otherwise there will be a breakdown.

Perhaps you should not "Beard the Lion"... LOL! Aaron is on his soapbox today... and I don't think he's going to run out of breath anytime soon. He makes some valid points but in the long run, his liberalism will lead him down that lonely path. Perhaps we should let him "stew in his own juices" for awhile?
Best,

I will no more get drawn into this as I ever when it comes to politics. But, having read all the previous posts, I must admit to a giggle when the thought hit me that perhaps the title to the thread should swap out "bill and Hillary" in exchange for "The Codgers and the Canuck"...:-)
Aaron's Utopia ain't gonna happen any more than Lenin's, I mean Lennon's "Imagine", but I must admit that I lean more towards his dreams than I do toward the opposite nightmares expressed.
Carry on...I'll grab some popcorn:-)
Have a great rest of the weekend ya'll!!!

My utopia is more likely to happen in my country than the US although my dream of sterilizing certain people probably won't ever happen considering the birth rate in Canada is so low that we have to accept more immigrants into the country than ever before.

Actually, Ol' Winston had a few if the best one-liners I've ever heard, but that's a topic for another thread :-) Midnite P.S... At a dinner party: Woman to Winston: Sir, you are drunk. Winston to Woman: and Madam, you are ugly, but in the morning, I shall be sober. And here's another, keeping in mind that he had been the Head of the British Navy( under one title or another) "Don't speak to me of British Naval traditions. It's nothing but rum, sodomy and the lash"... Love him or hate him, by golly the man was real:-)

The beauty of being on the fence is that you can see both parties -- you can choose to join one that might suit you--RIGHT NOW I'M HERE ON THE FENCE CUSSIN' MOCRATS AND PUBLICANS--MAYBE I'LL FLIP A COIN WHILE WE STILL HAVE CHANGE!

My favorite Churchill quote: Lady Astor: If you were my husband, I'd put poison in your tea. Churchill: If I were your husband, I'd drink it. Maybe a Churchill thread would be more fun. Scott

Hey Scott, Midnite, Ben, Mackie and Sue:
Glad you could join the "party!" Winston Spencer Churchill will remain a "hero" to me for as long as I last. I still remember watching his funeral procession. Talk about a grateful nation! The man had moxy and served both our nations well.
I like your idea about a Churchill thread, Scott. Always good to hear from you. (You too, Bob of the Midnite Hour!)
This has turned into a real hoot thanks to Ray over there in the Marshes of Glen.
B-T-W... Aaron... its all in fun, so I hope you know we enjoy you and your idealism. I was young once myself.
All the best to all of you,

And speaking of "Brits" and Sir Winston's wit. I channeled him once, during my drinking days...
At a dinner party:
Woman: Midnite, are you drunk? Midnite: Usually.
At which point, like a proper "Wannabe-Brit", I toddled upstairs to bed...Granted, it wasn't 't my house or bed, but it seemed like a wise move at the time...
If I had been feeling truly American at that point, I would have shouted "Road trip anyone?!?!?"...And eventually woken up at a truck stop in Tennessee with a car full of strangers....
Midnite
P.S ...Actually, I first channeled him several years earlier, when my then-wife asked me after an argument:
Wife: Do you ever wish you 'd married someone else ? Midnite: No. But I wish you had .

That kind of humour is great. Reminds me of Frank Barone and Marie Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond. They're always zinging each other like that but they don't really mean it cause there is still love and respect even though it's normally silent.

You know I actually hate these discussions because they always lead to name calling, and insanity. But I am going to focus on one thing that Aaron said that I think underscores what everyone is missing.
"What are you talking about Muslims for? The US barely has any Muslims. 0.6 % of your population are Muslim. You need not worry about Muslims. They won't be taking over your country"
Aaron, you are right about this. But you have to remember that only 19 of them flew airplanes into three buildings here and changed the way we do every single thing about security in the world. It doesn't take a huge amount to make enormous changes in a total society. And no, we are not going to be taken over, because we have a LOT A LOT of personal firearms in this country.
But do you know who IS poised for a takeover? CANADA. Because not only is that country so overwhelmingly conerned with mulitculturalism, it has lowered it's defenses on every thing. That's why they can get in (are actually already there) and a few well place attacks, bringing down the CN tower, shopping malls, kind of the whole country is one big soft target, and I think you will see a lot of changes.
You see, Islam works by INCREMENTALISM.It takes small areas, takes those, then expands. Usually it is so minute and small you don't see it. Look at every country in the Middle East. There used to be huge Christian populations there. No more.
And you are always worried about intolerence from Christians about Gays, or our population "Growing' in our acceptance. You need to remember that Islam doesn't "tolerate' anything that doesn't believe like Islam. A few of those people thrown off of buildings, beheaded in the public square, or set on fire and you may long for the days of someone just wanting to "preach the gospel' at someone instead of Crucifying them.
Everyone wants to bring up the CRUSADES and how terrible Christians are but you do realize that the Crusades were a REACTION to Islam don't you? They were taking over the world and enslaving civilizations. The evil US MArines "Halls of Montezuma"? The reasons we were in Montezuma? A reaction to Islam.
You see it is not about a lot of people doing something. It is about a small amount, being unchallenged. it is about small pockets growing and being able to create enough havoc to disrupt civilization. Destroying a few power grids, water supplies, can take out an entire country. People freak out if they have their Internet and cable out for twenty minutes. Imagine it out for months.
It is about a small group of people being willing to not only kill others but to DIE for their cause because their beliefs are that that is the way they get INTO their Heaven. That depends on one thing above anything else. CHAOS.
Do you ever stop to think that the REASON the Americans have been in so many wars and have so many bases is that we have supported ALLIES. World war one? French and English. World War II? France, England, China, and the rest of the world. Korea? Saving South Koreans. Vietnam? Comunism and Saving South Vietnam. Gulf Wars? Protecting the oil supply AND Islamic populations.
We don't run these countries, we don't take their oil, we don't exploit their riches. We generally free, them, rebuild them and then leave. And when we leave you see the chaos going on in the middle east.
But you know who believes like you? That America is evil? Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Because they want to destroy America's ability to defend ourselves and get even with all that evil we have been doing for years.
So they only thing I really have to say is this. You better HOPE that Hillary Clinton doesn't get elected. Because we might just be your last hope from losing your country. Becauase if we can't defend ourselves, we won't be able to ride to your defense when they take yours.

I'm not concerned Marc. The Muslims that we accept via immigration are the educated kind who vote liberal or ndp. The conservatives try their best to throw out scary words like muslim terrorists but most of the country isn't buying it. You're more likely to be killed in a car crash than you are by a muslim terrorist. Of course though like any government the conservatives will use anything they can to make new laws that take away the rights of the citizens using the scary muslim terrorists language. But nope I am not concerned about a Muslim take over in Canada. That's not to say I am a fan of Islam. It's the worst religion and culture going right now and it offends me greatly. Just throwing that out there.

What I have gathered from that is there must be some serious belt shortage going on down there. Going to be a long summer of inner city youth running around with their pants falling down.

You have one of the more misreadings of reality that I have seen Aaron. It is the LIBERALS who are pushing "Presidential exectutive orders' using the FBI, IRS in illegal ways. They are the ones actually destroying civil liberties. You're pretty much in the wrong camp on this one. And yes, there of course is NO Islamist Faschism anywhere. Too bad. Because one day you are going to wake up and say "ooops, they were right." But there's not going to be anyone to listen. But Liberalism is all feelings without common sense or logic. The easiest to believe.

and the "Fox guy?" Sure, hate to tell you this bud, but here's another one you're going to be profoundly embarrised on. It is not just Fox, it is the New York Times, The Washington post and pretty much anyone that has been paying attention to this crooks for decades. Sooner or later it all catches up. That's just what's happening. Exactly the kind of politicians you liberals have always crusaded against. You were just after the wrong ones. It was actually the liberals all along. Sorry. I'd hate to be on the wrong side too.

Respectfully Speaking, The problems, now in Baltimore, are an outgrowth of high unemployment among young blacks as much as anything. When "Obama Care" was passed many small business's reduced their workers because they didn't know what the Health Insurance costs would be. The mess in Washington may get a lot worse before it gets better. And, I didn't know anything to speak of about the Clinton's before Bill became President. After a lot of examination I saw that Bill just didn't know which end was up. Both Bill and Hillary are Lawyers and should understand the Constitution. After all they went to excellent schools. So why are they now re-filing their Taxes for the last 5 years? Not good. When the press get's hold of something they seldom let go.Sorry Aaron.

"One believes in free enterprise and a reasonable model of democracy... while the other believes in taxing, spending, stealing, lying and traitorous treachery."
Gotta love how people look through their own lens...now take this statement in isolation...what party is which here???

The Clinton's have always brought these things upon themselves. No one's fault but their own. Sort of a "Catch me if you can". The game gets old. Almost two years is a long time to be playing that game. I hope the (real) voters get tired of it by 2016 and dismiss these people as real contenders.

95% of the Muslims don't bother me, it's the 5% of the radical ones that scares me. They are mostly brain washed into believing Islam has to take over the world before their god can come and rule, and they will do it by force, believe their way or die. True Christians are peace makers, we believe Jesus is going to come back to rule with a rod of iron but with love, not hate. Christians will tell people about God and Jesus so they can be saved, but if people don't believe, Christians will not kill them.
There is a spiritual war raging in a realm where we can not see, it is a war between good and evil, and the prize is man's soul. We must choose which side we are on, there is no neutral ground, if you don't choose God, you choose Satan by default. Jesus said "you are for me or against me". All this information is in the bible, but unfortunately, this is a book many people will not read.

Tell you what, everyone: Let's see if we can find BROADER brushes with which to paint the folks with whom we disagree politically. THAT is the way to come together and solve our nation's ills! Right, Fox News? Right, MSNBC?
I don't think that it's any secret which side of the line I fall on, politically. That said, while politics has hardly ever been a gentleman's game, [naughty word removed]'s been getting worse and worse since the advent of the 24-hour news cycle and the need to fill that space with commentary and conjecture. On both sides. People (on both sides) need to watch their news with a critical eye and not gobble up whatever it is that they are being spoon fed.
I see a lot of regurgitation of pat partisan quotes and talking points in this thread and all I can do is shake my head. The puppet masters have won. Doesn't matter which puppet masters they are, but they have won. It appears that we have lost the ability to think for ourselves. Yay, us!

And, for the record: I vote my conscience, not my party. I have voted both Democrat and Republican. Just happens that, these days, with the broadening partisan divide, there is one side that more-clearly reflects my own views. But, that side is, even now, drifting farther away from the center. Makes it harder to compromise, as the other side is doing the same. Again: Thank you puppet masters.

Hi Pop:
Don't be "sick" because of this thread. A healthy discussion between members on various non-music related issues is a good thing, provided we don't get personal with it. Discussion of just about any topic is the purpose of the general forum.
I tend to fall in the conservative camp but I don't own a membership card and I won't contribute a single dime to any campaign or cause. I'd rather hear the news without glitz, polish or "spin." I am much older than 75% of the members here and have a different perspective as a result. WWII, the Korean Conflict, the "Cold War", Vietnam, Panama, and recent stand-offs have "shaped" my viewpoint. Fortunately, I served my Country in the Military during the Cold War era.
I realize that my view will probably never be the same as everyone else. Why should it be?
My point is simply "if you have not lived during a historical period or it's aftermath, you may be viewing the world in which you live very differently. That does not make you or any other person wrong or right. It is only a different perspective.
History tends to replicate prior scenarios because mankind/womankind do not learn from past mistakes. How can they know if it is not taught in school? How can they care if morality is relegated to the past? How can they love this nation if they know nothing of it's reason for being and the sacrifices made to carve it away from the British Empire?
Today, we in the United States experience Narcissism on a grand scale. The average "citizen" cares more for himself than for his/her Nation and fellow humans. I call it the "Fast Food Syndrome."
That same syndrome impacts the lives of would be songwriters and artists more than any of us can imagine... and it is bringing our Nation down faster than any war we have ever experienced.
...and you ask, "What is your point, Rice?" My answer would be, "Please look at both sides of the coin before forming an opinion." A "Rush to Judgment" is usually wrong. Knowing the issues upon which you can vote is extremely important. Unfortunately, most voters opinions are formed for them by the media on one side or the other. They never let facts get in their way.
Regards, ---Dave

Amen, Dave. Thanks for your very sane and thoughtful response.
And I, too, appreciate a healthy discussion between disagreeing parties. Sadly, these discussions, more-often than not, tend to devolve into something more akin to a barroom brawl than a healthy, productive debate. Cheap shots and all. I am certainly a bit younger than you, 44. But, I think that I have lived through enough to have developed a perspective informed by history, as well.
One last thing: thank you for your service.

Hi again, Pop:
Perhaps my philosophical meandering was triggered by last night's fun and games with a pack of wild Tornadoes raising cane with barns, buildings, trees and houses as they passed through our little town of Glen Rose headed east while bombarding us with a mixed bag of large, medium and small hail.
We hunkered down in an interior closet with my iPad for Radar Observation, a flashlight and a couple of small chairs for a little comfort. In all, three super cell storms were headed our way so we had plenty of warning. The first one vaporized before it reached us; the second suddenly veered north and left us breathing easier... then the third one appeared to follow that same track then suddenly turned south, directly at us with little warning.
Being able to tell about the experience is something I hope I never have to do again... but when I think about folks who live in Moore, Oklahoma... we have nothing to complain about.
You can be certain, this old sinner was offering a prayer or two during the seemingly "all night ordeal."
All the best,
Dave

I saw the video of the softball-sized hail and that is some scary stuff. Glad that you and yours are okay, Dave and I hope that your property didn't suffer too much damage.

Right now the country the U.S. needs to be emulating is Iceland.
The fact that we haven't jailed the bankers that F'd up the economy and removed/replaced our broken government just baffles me. Its in the constitution as such to replace our government when its no longer of the people for the people - which it clearly isn't.
On the religious side, the constitution also clearly spells out there is supposed to be a separation of Church and State. Since "contenders" and current representatives are clearly wearing their religion on their sleeves its a serious problem that also needs to go away.
The U.S. has become exactly what it was originally intending to get away from when it was started.
End of story.

Actually there is no separation of church and state in the US Constitution. The first amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting ... Other than that I agree with your sentiment. Now end of story. Stevie

True its an amendment, but is part of the constitution. And might be better stated as separation of state FROM church.
