OK, I am on a super big Darrell Scott kick (again!). He is the master americana artist. He's had a few cuts ( Great Day to be Alive -- Travis Tritt, Long Time Gone -- Dixie Chicks and Never Leave Harlan Alive -- many artists; etc...) but he is the consummate songwriter, guitarist, vocalist and performer. Never heard him before but I'm glad I listened now. Reminds me of Steve Earle. Vic

Thanks for bringing him to our attention Kevin!
Got a question for ya. I don't listen to music when I'm home, but spend over 20 hours a week on the road, so I have SiriusXM, where I'm exposed to a lot of different music and artists I'd never heard of.
Question: What method/service do you use to find these folks? Like myself, you're a big Americana fan, so I'm just wondering.

Midnite I heard of Darrell Scott quite a while ago, but I heard "Great Day to be Alive" somewhere and went looking for that and found his own versions -- and that led to a big discovery of sorts. I think YouTube is my number one source of finding stuff. Since I was big into the Lumnineers and such, I get a lot of radio station "live" segments and that is where I have found most folks (and maybe NPR's tiny desk concerts). Beside americana, I get links to lumineers, the head and the heart, monsters and men, Edward Zero and all those type acts, too (as well as a bunch of weird stuff that I have to keep saying "Not Interested"!).

No, Haven't listened to him yet. But I am listening to a Ferlin Husky CD I recently made from Records from the 1950's.

You'll never leave Harlan Alive is one of my favourite songs ever. Why oh why would someone write a song about killing Harlan("Three chords and the truth") Howard?!?!?!?!?!!! Whoops, sorry, was channeling Ray for a moment there:-) Different Harlan. Different song. Midnite

Most interesting, Hank Thompson put out a Album Entitled SONGS FOR ROUNDERS of which is probably only Available on the Boxed Set now is a bit like this Rendition of You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive. Deep Elm and Drunkards' Blues come to mind. Now how do you suppose songs like this still play out there? Not in Music City, that's for sure.
I have the Original Album of which is listed for sale as a Re-Master. On some Sites.
