Hot off the press, here's the latest offering from Roger and me. It's kind of an ode to the pain, literally and figuratively, of getting older. Comments welcomed.
Aspirin and Ice © 2015 Roger Sosnowski and Greg C. Brown Wake up in the morning to a new day, Reaching to shut off that screaming alarm, I turned kinda funny, then my shoulder popped; Oh, I think I’ve done myself great harm. Oo oo ow ow.
CHORUS I keep playing tug of war with Father Time ‘Cause he keeps trying to take what’s mine. I used to stand tall, now I sit to pee, Aches and pains have got the better of me. Aspirin and ice, aspirin and ice, Use 'em in the morning, use 'em at night; Aspirin and ice, aspirin and ice, My two allies in this daily fight.
Standing in church in the midst of prayer When I got a natural urge to sneeze. The pain in my legs woke the choir up And almost brought me down to my knees. Oo oo ow ow. CHORUS I keep playing tug of war with Father Time ‘Cause he keeps trying to take what’s mine. Look in the mirror, and it hurts to see That old young fella looking back at me. Aspirin and ice, aspirin and ice, Use 'em in the morning, use 'em at night; Aspirin and ice, aspirin and ice, My two allies in this daily fight.
BRIDGE Oh Lord, I’m getting old, Try to get moving, another false start. Oh Lord, this getting old is getting old, It ain’t for the faint of heart. My grandson said, Poppa pick me up, When I reached down, that’s when I heard the crack. Said I’d love to child, and you know I would, If it wasn’t for this bone in my back.

I REALLY LIKE THE CHORUS AND BRIDGE...THE VERSES ARE NOT AS STRONG...THEY DON'T SING THEMSELVES IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. MARVELOUS POTENTIAL. I'M THERE MYSELF.:)

Yeah, the chorus is the best part. It seems like only aging baby boomers post songs anymore.

Thanks, Neil! Glad you like the chorus and bridge. This was fun to write. I'm not sure I agree with you about the verses, though. I think they help set the stage for what the chorus has to say.
I do appreciate you giving this some of your time, and sharing your thoughts. And yeah, I'm there, too.

Hi Neil,
Sorry for the late reply--just back from vacation. Thanks for taking your time to look this one over. I can see what you're talking about with the verses. Maybe Greg and I can smooth those out a bit. Feel free to give us amy suggestions you might think of. Thanks again, Roger

Hi Roger and Greg. I agree that the verses need a bit of smoothing. The chorus is fine.
Maybe scotch and ice would ease the pain. :-) Vic
