The world seems full of bad news, time to find things to smile/laugh about or be grateful for.....soooo... Good news, any good news, or a joke, funny clips ect.......go here. I'll kick it off, After a few days without water, the water heater is fixed. Gravity still works, and we have not flown off into space. next.

My 2 year old grandson pointed to his sister's new placemat on the dining table which is of Disney Princesses and sang "Let It Go..."
When I babysat last week, my granddaughter held her hand out pretending that she was Elsa freezing me. I simply smiled and told her it doesn't work on Grandmas...
The hummingbirds are enjoying my flowers in the backyard.

Scene in my back yard a few hours ago:
two kids in an upright water heater box, trying hard to chase the chickens around the yard.......*cue benny hill theme*
As I type this, I'm in awe of what a spectacularly beautiful planet I live on, giant moon peaking through a break in the thunder head clouds above the old growth firs with two great horned owls talking across the dark yard.

We are finally going to Spain and Southern France to see long time JPF members and have a big old fashioned small town showcase where people will be singing in French and Spanish and English and who knows what else. Can't wait to meet these people in person and my health is finally stable enough to allow me to travel! Hopefully many people will have another fun life memory and experience. So it's a happy thing in my view for me and some JPF members who have never had a chance to get together before. And I will meet 2 JPF Music Awards winners for the first time as well. It should be a blast!

Woohoo Brian ! Great news. My good news ? Today my young daughter got a call back for a feature film. Fingers crossed. Also, I've got a big pot of chilli cooking to share with the family and a warm house when they all get home on a blustery winters night. Life is good. cheers, niteshift

Ha ha....ofcourse that counts.....no more car payments, and y'all are still together........It's about being grateful too. I'm already facing a good day, foggy, cool, hot coffee with my sweet heart all wrapped up in a blanket and looking beautifully warm and sleepy.....and......it's the start of a weekend.

Lots of good stuff on this thread. Congrats to all who are celebrating something good.
Right now I am sitting in my comfortable house in a safe neighborhood watching the thunderstorms outside without much to worry about. There is/are no ISIS here, or Ebola, or Russian Separatists. I am out of the range of the North Koreans ability to chuck bombs around and Cuba is peaceful AFAIK.
And the lack of bad is definitely good.

I have been enjoying the most beautiful summer in Duluth, Minnesota. Not too hot or humid. Mostly in the perfect seventies. I have been unemployed from a job after 13 years since April because the new owner cut over half the staff. But a number of better jobs and benefits look to be on the horizon. I am more able to make a good, reserved job choice without scrambling. But if I don't get that and have to settle I don't lose anyway, and could at least enjoy the most beautiful weathered summer vacation.

I saw a group of kids picking on a bigger lad who has learning difficulties and lives near where I live. The kids were dancing around him making fun of him and one smart assed little sod starting throwing punches at the big lad who did well to block the blows.I was going to step in when the lad grabbed hold of the little cretin and flung him against a wall with an almighty thud. He got up bruised, sore and a lot wiser while the other kids scurried off. I felt like putting my arm around the big lad, but thought better of it. It made an otherwise unhappy situation seem much better. A tinge of sadness however that our future generation should be so cruel and thoughtless.

Im not sure either side knows about the other, but every company is outsourcing somewhere. Wherever it's cheaper I guess. I worked in a company for 5 years, when our entire department was shuffled off to Nebraska. Made me appreciate the album Nebraska even more, where the unemployed guy goes on a shooting rampage LOL

I guess in a selfish way I am all the more optimistic. Everyone elses job loss is my gain.
I wanted to farm in Nebraska at one time. My dad was at a police academy in Omaha to become a deputy in the county I live. He loved it their.
Every time I think of it I think of these families hanging on by the skin of their teeth. Now it is three companies that are putting out some synthetic seed that restricts growing. It must be hell for the modern farmer to keep up pace.

My good news de jeur(sp?) I mowed my yard today without having to dial 911!!!!...Sounds simple, doesn't it? 3 times in the last 2 years I got hit by Copperheads and ground bees....I have to text my wife every time I start to mow the yard, and then send her another text to let her know I survived it. And today, I mowed the yard with no complications!!!! Midnite

Good Gawd indeed!! I could post photos of bloody Copperhead bodies(I ran over one while it was napping)...Or of my swollen left calf from the time I didn't run over one but the lil' bastard bit me anyway(photo taken in the emergency room)...Or of the time the ground bees hit me and my face swelled up like Homer Simpson on steroids...or the other time when the ground bees hit me and I ended up in the back yard stripping off all my clothes and frantically hosing myself down(my neighbor took that pic and has been blackmailing me ever since) If I had the money, my entire yard would be paved over and I would "Turn paradise into a parking lot"... But 'til then.... Midnite

Congratulations go out to Midnite Bob for mowing his yard safely.
That reminded me of my husband's plumbing adventures. We had some work that needed to be done on a toilet, maybe just replacing the seat. I was standing there handing him some tools and he was tightening something down. He stopped and this look of horror crossed his face. He said, "I broke the toilet" and sure enough there was a crack in the bowl and we had to go buy a new toilet. His look was so funny I just laughed and we went merrily to the store to get a new one. What are the odds that the next time he had to work on a toilet he broke that one, too? Yep, he did. So now, whenever a toilet needs work he just growls and I admit it, I rib him occasionally.

maybe mow your yard more than once a year Midnite!I think those copperheads are the most aggressive,at least around here they are,i've stepped on a few cottonmouths and they wanted to get away just as fast as i did but those copperheads here stand their ground.I also think they're the most prettiest of our native snakes.Good luck next time!Mike

Just saw that a song of mine on soundcloud crested 14,000 plays.....averaging over a thousand plays a month, and is selling fairly steadily......not bad for a living room demo.

Ive always dismissed musician networks cause I feel like the people there are there for themselves, they are not real listeners.
Occasionally, I will get a friend request from somebody who doesnt even sing in english, way different style than me. And Ill be like "Sure we can be pals" !
I havent really tried to make money with my music, So I cant say for sure. Im pretty sure writing songs for other people through publishing is a pie in the sky thing.
I did write a song for a game company a old sports board game, the owner of the company wasnt crazy about it, but some of his employees heard it. I even got an email from a pretty well known sportswriter telling me I nailed what the game was about. Made me feel good. It was featured on some of their media, I had it up for sale on a site. I even got thousands of listens and made maybe 10 bucks LOL, I never did contact Nimbit to collect my dough though!

Sure, on musician driven sites, there are a lot of..........musicians.........but........for evey ten song writers/musicians, there is one fan looking for something new, and you never know for sure WHO is listening.........Katy Perry's publisher clicks around spotify, or soundcloud while eating lunch, lands on "love me in spanish"........something about that chorus.......who is this again?
or......some average joe, doing the same......loves a Stevie B tune, follows link to itunes, and Stevie has 69 cents in his paypal account and his song coming out of a car at a stop light.......
ya just don't know.
