Awoke on the Sofa an hour ago, having dozed off during Ally McBeal...(I HATE It when that Happens!)...
And Out Popped This Lyric upon Awakening...at 4AM...
The DIFFERENCE Between "HAMBURGER" & "The Cow:" EXISTENCE The DIFFERENCE That MAKES The "Here & NOW" EXISTENCE
It's BEYOND the "SUM of ALL..It's PARTS" EXISTENCE The PULSE that BEATS "Life's Beating HEART".. EXISTENCE
(CHORUS) CLOSE your EYES "It All Gets DARK"..? Now OPEN Them..&.. "ENJOY The SPARK!"...of EXISTENCE!
Shakespeared Wrote "To BE Or NOT..to Be" ("EXISTENCE") Without It, You're Just HISTORY! EXISTENCE
It's a GIFT that's TRULY "GOD-Given" EXISTENCE APPRECIATE It? Now MAN,,,You're REALLY LIVIN'...with.. EXISTENCE
(CHORUS, Changed) CLOSE Your EYES.. THAT's "Where You Came FROM!" Now OPEN WIDE..and.. For CHRIST'S SAKE, Don't Be DUMB! (Enjoy) EXISTENCE!
Yes, You Should ENJOY The "MYSTERY OF"... EXISTENCE There's LOTS MORE-Than-"CHEMISTRY" There's "Some LOVE"..in.. EXISTENCE
This Planet'd BE Real COLD & STALE..With NO EXISTENCE You Gotta Give GOD Some CREDIT For This "MORTAL VEIL", This EXISTENCE
(CHORUS, Changed) CLOSE Your EYES THAT's.."The CHOICE" You Got CAUSE...To REJOICE..for EXISTENCE!
EXISTENCE!
EXISTENCE!

Hey Stan! - This is really Good (pun intended!). I can imagine this slotting straight into a musical and being the top song. Excellent job, well done! You need to doze off during Ally M more often. Nige ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif)

Hi Stan - Nige was typing his reply same time as me (Hi Nige). The first two lines had me thinking this was going to be something lighthearted but in fact I found it to be quite the opposite - the kind of message that makes you really stop and think. Very enjoyable. Cheers, Judy

I ain't crazy about those opening lines or the chorus, but the rest of this is pretty dynamic. The message is engaging and interesting. The delivery is unique. Something more meaty for that chorus might make this one a real keeper.

Hi Nige!
KNOW La Femme gets an Evil Kick outta My Dozin' Off during THAT Program...
None of that "Wake Up, Honey, & Let's Gp To Bed"...NosirEE...I wake up ALONE, sometimes on The Rug...(Heh-Heh!)
Thanks for the Kind Feedback! Never had the Urge to Write a Musical...but, yeah, maybe Someday!

Hi Judy!
WOW..Y' mean this thing WORKED? WHEEeee! I woke up with the First Verse pretty well Laid-out...then the Rest just seemed to flow into Place.
I'm hearin' a Chorale of "Ya-Weh..Ya-Weh..I AM"...Do-Mi-Fa-So-Re-Do (The Notes on Guitar) as Counterpoint behind the Verses.
Best I Can Explain It...
(Probably left-over George Harrison Influence from "My Sweet Lord"--the "Backgrounds" on THAT Song are as Cool as the Song Itself!)
Hey, say a Prayer for That Beatle...he's been battlin' several Cancers, one was in his Brain, I believe..& that's probably te HARDEST Area to Treat Successfully...they usually come Back...
Thanks for the Kind Words, Lady J!
Big Hugs, Stan

HIDee Ward!
Dunno, Amigo...When you're Out to Make People THINK, it takes something really DIFFO to Grab Their Attention. (I'm also a Part-Time Vegetarian, 2 meals outta 3, so kinda ENJOYED whippin' that Cow Line onya!):-)
The Chorus Ain't really as SOFT as it Seems...but then, that's also How the Deity Does it, Daily, for us to Appreciate what we've Been Given here. We get the Choice.."Light or Dark, Anyone?" And it IS "Pretty Darn SIMPLE," so I Tried Real hard to avoid any Complicated..."Preaching"...(Gulp!)
This'n took 10 minutes to write, looked it over & changed ONE Word..."Fire" became "Pulse"...
Your Criticism is probably Valid...but some of the Simplest Things, like a Crystal Ball, for Instance, can capture Mystery just by their BEING "Simple"...
Thanks for Your Feedback, Amigo! Big Guy-Hugs, Stan

G'mornin' Dawg-Chum!
I allus Admire Honesty, & appreciate your Bein' Honest on This'n.
As I type this, I'm starin' at What's Left of 2 Dozen Long-Stemmed Red Roses. Bought 'em for La Femme (Only $5!) at Webster yesterday..there's this Importer from Brazil that Dumps the Posies that are Gettin' ALMOST "Past-Due"..& we've been seein' LOTS of Long-Stemmed Roses here lately...
There's 16 Left... They Smell & Look GORGEOUS...yet ALL are Soon to Wither & Die...& Be Discarded. (I'll add, I had GREAT Fun handin' out the OTHER 8 to a FABULOUS Redhead, (HOPE I got Her Hubby Jealous!), Several Tired-lookin' Mamas Pushin' Baby Strollers, Young gal in an Electric Wheelchair, and a Bevy of 60-&-70 Year-Olds...)
Now, there are Some who'll say I'm Hell-Bound for not givin' ALL Them Roses to My Wife (Who, even with 8 years Accounting Experience can't tell the Diffo between 16 & 2 Dozen) :-)....but My Guess is The Deity's had as Good a Laugh as I Have.
Hopin' this li'l Annecdote'll tip the Scales towards a Favorable Review, yet I'll Value the Honesty, come-what-may, when I hear Back from ya! Door's always Open, Amigo!
Thanks & a Big Guy-Hug, Stan

This is a GREAT lyric and oh so meaningful all things considered... I mean really... thanks for bring it back to us Nigel. I hope the rest of you will post your thoughts on this... it's really clever and would make a GREAT spoken word or rap song.

I was thinking that it would better fit into a throwback to many of the songs of the Golden Age of Broadway. It reads to me more like that kind of lyric.

Tells so much about how Stan perceived life. I doubt Stan ever took even one day for granted. Stan’s existence continues in the hearts of so many people he touched. A good lyric to remember during days of discontent. Thanks bro! John

Actually my favourite thing about him was the way he tried to express rhythm and emotion with small and capitol letters. A GOOD man...
