I have a 12 string Vanguard guitar, but I don't know much about that brand of guitar.I bought it years ago second hand, sounds good though. Are they considered a cheap, average or expensive line? Some brands you know by name, like Gibson, Martin,Taylor, etc to be good and usually expensive. How does the Vanguard compare to these?

Kay made a vanguard guitar. I also know they made some 12 string acoustics and sorta kinda remember seeing a 12 string electric in one of their catalogs when I was young.

Is it electric or acoustic? As Sue said, there was a line of Kay Vanguard electrics in the 60s. They were a lower end guitar and people are asking around $300 for them today on Ebay....mostly as collectibles.
If it works for you and you like it, keep on playing it. A modern guitar would probably play more easily. Those old Kays tend to have very fat necks and high action.
If yours is an acoustic, I don't know anything about it except that it is pretty much unknown and probably a store-brand name on a guitar from a different manufacturer.

It's a 12 acoustic manufactured for Hohner international, made in Korea. The neck is slim on this one and has a brilliant sound,I like it's sound. My son gave me a Taylor six string guitar for Fathersday,it has a deeper basey sound and I like it but still go to my 12 string to write. The Taylor is a fairly expensive guitar, easy to play, but I feel more comfortable with the Vanguard.
Thanks Colin for your input.

Hohner is the well-known manufacturer of harmonicas that also imports guitars. I don't think they have actually manufactured guitars in many years, if ever. Their imports are respectable copies of major brands made by Asian guitar factories. A lot of very good guitars have come from Korea. I own one Korean made acoustic with the Fender name on it and an electric with Squier on it. I have never heard of Hohner's Vanguard models until now. Again, if you like it, play it, but it is probably not valuable. Taylors are very good guitars that are fairly expensive. Even the cheapest play well and sound good. They have become very common with professional country artists as well as artists in other genres.

That's right,Hohner makes harmonicas,I knew that name looked familiar but couldn't place it.I guess all that matters is the sound, the price tag means nothing unless you are buying or selling.I'm keeping. Thanks Colin.
