I am a returning member from back around Y 2000. I am a singer/songwriter/musician/and do what I can as a studio engineer in my home studio. I have been inspired over the years by solo artist like Todd Rundgren /John Lennon and many others. I have not played out much over the years but enjoy writing and putting all the music together playing all the instruments and doing the vocal tracks in my studio. I love working with bands and solo artist over the internet adding tracks to recordings sending them back and forth to each other. You can find some of my original music on my Face Book page @ facebook.com/Originalrocker I look forward to working and networking with all the fine folks on JP Folks. Greetings, I am a singer/songwriter/guitarist from Orlando, Florida, I have played on one of the JPFolks roadtrips many years ago at "A Third Place" in Eustis. It was a lot of fun. I have finally signed up, and plan to spend some time at this. I am involved with 2 songwriters groups in the Orlando/Central Florida area. ISG (International Songwriters Guild) which meets the first Sunday of the month from 5 to 8pm https://sites.google.com/site/susiecoolsongs/Home/isglinksI am Susan Foster-Trewick, Membership Coordinator and Newsletter Archives isgorlando@gmail.com 407-760-2153 NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International) Orlando chapter Meets on the first Tuesday of the month (except this April, which is on the 9th) http://www.myspace.com/nsaiorlando Coordinators are Asli Goncer asli@cfl.rr.com 407-359-0506, and Sheryl Paige sheryl@solocreativemedia.com Details of meeting locations are on the websites. Both organizations do critiques, and it is recommended that you bring about 10 lyric sheets and a CD, or perform live. It has been very helpful to me to be involved with these groups, as I have found many co-writers, and it's great sounding board. Susie,
You could put the info in the board in closest proximity in Florida near the lower part of the list of boards. We used to have a JPF chapter in several FLA cities but not currently. So feel free to post in the boards in Florida. Tampa had a huge chapter membership for many years and many of those folks are still active here.
We hope to relaunch chapters in FLA again later in the year likely when we next tour to those cities doing Showcases. We'll certainly welcome your folks to join us when we come through.
Your local members are welcome to join us here and if you'd like an Orlando board to use to post activities going on, just let me know and we are happy to help you out. We have a long history of doing events with NSAI chapters and other orgs. and for many years we shared coordinators in 2 dozen cities.
If you'd like to represent JPF in Orlando, let me know. We're 100% free so no worry about people having to be paid members to attend a meeting or event. They simply need to be on our member email list.

Hello everyone,
New member here checking in from the Washington DC area. I produce throwback 80s/90s electronic pop songs (think new order, depeche mode, etc.) with the primary goal of pursuing synch/licensing opportunities in order to gain exposure (and potentially added income). Additionally, I run a small indie record label for which I release not only my stuff, but also music by other artists (usually also produced by me).
I'm in the process of upgrading some elements of my studio, so I hope to work through and share a load of unfinished songs here in the near future.
Anyway, hello! I hope to meet some fellow songwriters, producers, engineers, and maybe even some publishers!
Chris

Hi everybody, I'm Nicholas Anne, my dad wanted a boy and my mom a girl, so they named me Nicholas Anne. Nicky for short. I've just started writing lyrics. I have written poetry and short stories and I mostly write as a hobby. But it's fun to stretch your creative abilities and do something different. So, I thought I would give lyrics a try.
Thanks Nicky

Hi Brian, The best way to hear some of my material is over at Bandcamp or Soundcloud. I should have a considerable amount more coming out this year if all plans go well with the studio. Here are a couple of links: http://cpricemusic.bandcamp.comhttp://www.soundcloud.com/cpricemusicBest, Chris

Hi. I'm Pam Schwetz. I write a lot of poetry and lyrics. I just took a songwriting class on Coursera that I really enjoyed. I usually have a tune of some sort in my head when I write my poetry and would love to start writing more songs. I guess the part I need help with is fitting my words to music...sometimes I have a melody part all in my head when I write my words but then don't know what type of music to support it with...that is my challenge.

HI Pam,
I'm sure in a moment one of the "official" types here will be by to greet you, but since I was in the area I thought I'd stop by.
So this place is one of the coolest places I've found online for sharing what the Muse has been giving you. The assumption is that you want to write a song in it's fullest form and are willing to participate in the full process, and that process includes receiving feedback from some very thoughtful and talented peers. The hope/expectation is that you will return the favor and provide feedback to lyrics, songs, and participate in the general discussion and banter around here. I can honestly say that some of my favorite songs have come from clicking on the works of one of the other writers and listening to their stuff. I'm betting you will agree with me once you get familiar with things.
So...let's see what you got! Go up to the "Forums" banner, and click on the "Lyric Feedback" group and post something!
Best to you,

Hello everyone! I found this forum as I was checking out ArtistPR to see what I could find about them(after I'd paid the 2.99 for the 5 day membership)I cancelled my membership yesterday thanks to the many posts about them here. I compose both New-Age and Rock music. I have emphysema and COPD so I cant sing. I play Guitar,Keyboards,Bass and Drums, and have a modest studio in my garage. Ive been composing music for almost two decades.Im really interested in collaborating with fellow musicians on here or in my area. Most of my New Age tunes are maybe 2 minutes long.I have an idea sometimes at 3 am and rush down to my studio and lay them down so I don't forget. I'm looking more towards getting into Movie soundtracks, TV commercials.etc.. Im not out to become a big star and make a gazillion dollars.I only have one dream. That is to see my music credits at the end of a TV show,or hear one of my 'lil dittys' on a TV commercial.(Heck, even a rubber record on the back of a cereal box would make me happy..:)) Any help, positive and negative feedback on my material will be greatly appreciated. I'm so glad I found this site!!
Rock On!

Pam: Hello there -- Pat's class was great, wasn't it? Glad to see you here. Explore a little here and have fun. Take a look at the lyric boards and the MP3 board, you just might find a collaborator. Dan: Looks like you know what you want to do! Have you ever looked into TAXI.com? They have a lot of TV/Movie listings that you pitch to. The only caveat is that you have to be able to produce high quality work in order to compete with all the other members (and non-members who are chasing the same thing). But it sounds like something you might want to go check out. They have forums there where folks post there recordings -- you will be able to see where the "bar" is for competing.

Hi Pam and Dan, welcome to JPF's message board!
Ed, you can call me Brian and you can click "my stuff" at the top center under the banner at the very top and you'll see several menus of things you can do, check, add, and if someone sends you a message, an Email logo will flash above the words. You can also eliminate/change the signature like where Jay74 appears.

Hi, all. Am in SE Oklahoma. Looking for co-writers close. Have never collaborated on a song (other than having someone else sing them, I am vocally deficient). Some of my stuff is posted on youtube, chad lewis sinner's lament. I am more comfortable with a chord prog and lyrics, but do add some lead work. Happy to hear from http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxbHivmVyGOwkhN4vFTxnSA?feature=guide

Hi to all forum members, I'm new - still wearing the cellophane wrapping I am a late bloomer to music, didn't start picking up a guitar until 6 years ago on my 50th birthday. It only took a month or so and starting writing simplistic songs and here I am 6 years later still writing and recording simplistic songs. Looking forward to catching up with folks on line and sharing experiences and music while learning from your comments and my mistakes. Allan.

Used the site briefly a couple of years back, but life got the best of me. Hoping to stick around this time and become a part of the community. Working on finishing some of my incomplete songs at the moment, and then hope to start some new collaborations. I'm an hour north of Austin, and looking forward to my second wind here at JPF - John P.

Hello Glynda, Steven, and Brian,
I just joined JPF and have noticed a few others have recently been added as well. The forum is a bit overwhelming at first, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. A contact from the northwest suggested I come check out this site. I'm hoping it will be helpful.
I'm a writer/poet/lyricist out in the Seattle area. I'm really looking forward to connecting more with other writers and musicians.

Christie,
Welcome to JPF. Feel free to jump in and add your thoughts on any post, we welcome interaction and it's always fun to hear from new folks since so many of us know each other and what most people think on a given topic.
When it comes to posting your lyrics, or in the Creative Writing board where you can post your poems and other writing, it's always helpful to first offer some feedback to others first, in part to introduce yourself and also to demonstrate you're willing to give and take. Sometimes new folks are anxious to get feedback and post a bunch of lyrics and find they get little or no responses and that is often the cause. Once you've dipped your toes in, choose one lyric and post it for feedback at a time, giving people a chance to react to that one first, rather than posting 3-4 in a row all at once. It's been my experience that taking this approach will quickly lead to success and help you make a lot of new friends, potential co-writers and networking contacts!

Hi Brian, Hi from Mimi and Teft Productions. We were on the forum six or seven years ago as MSG songwriters (mom, son and girlfriend). Coming back to see what you're up to. I'm the sit down at the computer and relax part of the team these days. Commonly known as grandma, or office girl. Whatever works.
Nice to see you're still here making this site hum. Three cheers to hangin in there.

Hi everyone,
I am a lyricist from London, England. I am 64 years young and am married with 4 grown up children (all boys). I am currently writing with musicians, singers & producers in Canada, Russia, and Sweden.
I have recently returned home from hospital after undergoing a major operation, and am now back to work writing.
It's a pleasure to be here and I look forward to getting to know some of you.
I introduced myself on the wrong thread so I am now correcting my mistake.

I am brand new to JPFolks, it was recommeded that i check out this site by Alison Pipitone, a well respected singer/songwriter from the Buffalo, NY area. I'm very new to the performing arena and am looking for area venues to try to get into. I have played a few local music festivals, and an odd gig here and there, but am trying to expand my horizons. WNY has a boatload of festivals and interesting public events, and I am trying to find out where they are. when they are and how one's gets to play there. "City of NIghts" comes to mind as do other events down at Silo City. Another possible area to look into the "The Good Neighborhood" who seems to have a hand in a number of events around the city. I appreciate hearing from anyone who has an idea of where and how to begin.
