Hi Mackie,
Hey -- you should write a book about your experiences in the orphanage/reform school. I'm sure that the little details that seem just normal to you would be fascinating to others.
My son (nine years old) brought an assignment home, and it was one of those fill-in- the-blanks reading assignments, with a list of vocabulary words that you have to fit correctly into the story.
The story started out about a guy going hiking with someone and they grew close. The story said, "he became close like a ___________ to me." The word my son was supposed to fill in was "brother" but he used the word, "hiker" instead! I realized that to him, a sibling is just an abstract thought! Like you said, I guess we slowly learn about things that we missed, as life progresses!
Thanks for your insights!
Lisa

"Do not endeavor to be the smartest kid in a dumb class. Instead, you are better off being the dumbest kid in the smartest class, where you will be challenged and you will learn. If you aren't growing, you are dying." -Brian Austin Whitney
