Jackie every day I get junk mail from people I have never heard of trying to sell me stuff I do not want......all of it goes in the trash. So do not be surprised if unsolicited pitches are also put in the trash. Do your homework and make sure you know who to send stuff to and that they know you and have asked you to submit......that said the vast majority of songs even from established writers are rejected for whatever reason.
