Just re-recorded the vocal. I was sick and hoarse when I did the original version.

I Like You Kid, You're Funny

From the Cabaret door neath a neon light
In a tight red dress She stepped into the night
It was pouring rain, Not a cab in sight
I offered my coat, She politely declined
Convinced her I was the harmless type
Then I walked her home, Shook her hand good night

We developed a kinship over subsequent times
When I'd walk her home, see her safely inside
Guessed her age around 40, didn't miss it by much
And love soon blossomed though we never touched
She wanted to explain what she did at night
I said, angels don't work 9 to 5

She said, I like you kid, you're funny
And laughter's what I needed tonight
She asked me if I wondered what she did for a living
And why she worked so late at night
I stopped her and said it's really none of my business
What people choose to do with their lives
She said, Baby have you ever seen burlesque
I said no but I've seen Burl Ives...
And she laughed till she cried

We talked about life and we talked about love
'bout the smallest things, to the stars above
And though I had a job and bills to pay
I often stayed with her till it got late
Maybe sometimes till the morning came
And we laughed and we giggled till we both would shake

She'd say, I like you kid, you're funny
And laughter's what I needed tonight
She'd ask me if I wondered what she did for a living
And why she worked so late at night
I'd stop her and say it's really none of my business
What people choose to do with their lives
She'd say, Baby have you ever seen burlesque
I'd say no but I've seen Burl Ives...
And she'd laugh till she cried

She became ill in the winter time
The same disease that took her mother's life
I tried to make sure she never saw me cry
As I stayed right by her side

I'd swallow my fear, tried to act like before
Lost my job cause I just didn't care anymore
We lived on some money I'd saved in a drawer...

You know, she loved it when I was funny
But I didn't feel funny that night
As I stood by her bed post she motioned me close
And she noticed the tears in my eyes
With one silent stare she was making me swear
When I thought of her I'd never cry
I said, Baby have you ever seen burlesque...
And she finished our joke with her eyes

She'd say, I like you kid, you're funny
And laughter's what I needed tonight
She'd ask me if I wondered what she did for a living
And why she worked so late at night
I'd stop her and say it's really none of my business
What people choose to do with their lives
She'd say, Baby have you ever seen burlesque
I'd say no but I've seen Burl Ives...
And she'd laugh till she cried

I'm the only person here who is not unique.
