There are people who have broken in at the very top... but with a caveat that they did have to be at the "bottom" of the gatekeeping powerbroker after hours on the couch in his office.
The quote at the bottom of my posts pretty much sums up what Bill has said above. I'll add another old gem to that. The biggest helping hand you're ever going to have is at the end of you own arm.
