That "Nowhere Man" Challenge was interesting. It began as an "uncoverable" cover challenge...and we ended up picking a really easy one. Hey, it could have been "Bohemian Rhapsody"... :o

So Big Jim asked me to post this thread for the next challenge, which we have arbitrarily decided. We'll do others too, but for now, it's a Just Plain Folks Cover Challenge.

What we would like to do is choose an original work by a Just Plain Folks member, and cover it. In this first step, we ask you to offer up an original song or lyric of your own that you'd be willing to let others cover. We will accept these entries on this thread from now until Sunday night, March 8th. On Monday, I'll make a poll, and we can all choose which lyric or song we will cover.

If it's a song that gets voted in, the challenge is to cover it as you see fit. If it's a lyric that gets voted in, the challenge is to write the music for it.

Since this challenge is strictly for the purposes of education and fun, the original song or lyric will remain the property of the composer and/or lyricist, and our subsequent covers are only to be used for this challenge...any other uses will need permission from the original writer. So understand: all entrants who submit anything to this thread, by entering, agree to their stuff being used and abused and covered in any which way during the challenge. And anyone who covers the song or writes music to the lyric must be willing to let it end there...after all, imagine one lyric and 12 songs...kind of a tangled web, yes? So the original writer will hold all the decision power about subsequent use of the piece...if you're uncomfortable with that arrangement, best not play. But we think that you should. smile

I'll make the selection poll on Monday, we'll vote for two days, and the challenge will be on come Wednesday, March 11. Songs will come due on April 1st. grin wink

Meanwhile, no joke. If you would like to submit a song to be covered or a lyric to be composed to, submit ONE (that's one, folks) on this thread.

Let the games begin!
