The Connective Series hosts its next panel on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 in Manhattan at ASCAP, One Lincoln Plaza, ASCAP Building, 5th Floor Cafeteria in New York City at 7:00 p.m. The Connective Series educates emerging artists, musicians and music business professionals on, serves as a networking opportunity, and raise awareness and funds for charity. The Artist Against Hunger & Poverty Program of WHY (World Hunger Year) will benefit from this event. The Panel "How International Bands Can Break in the US Market" will cover issues such as management, touring, booking, publishing and recording contracts. Panelists include: Paul Adams of Magus Entertainment, a full service artist management firm, Millie Milgate, Creative Director of MusicNSW (Australia), Ari Nisman, President & CEO of Degy Entertainment, an artist management and booking firm, Jim Powers, owner of Minty Fresh, a Chicago-based music label, David Rothblatt, Owner of Hypnote Recording Concern, a multi-purpose music services organization based in NY and London, Robert Singerman of the French Music Export Office (North America), and Michael Lee Stack, President, A&R for Verse Music Publishing, a full service publishing firm. Jennie is a member of WHY's Artists Against Hunger & Poverty Program (AAHP) & ASCAP. Panelists will accept artists CDs. After two years successfully booking bands in and around Great Britain, Paul joined the world of producer management. A whirlwind six years followed with worldwide hits from acts as diverse as Radiohead and Tool. In 1999, Paul established Real Producers with an exciting client list that gradually led him to spend more and more time in the United States. In 2001 he sold his company to Worlds End (one of the leading producer management companies in America) and relocated to run their New York operation. After two years at Worlds End, Paul joined the team at Magus Entertainment to work on their existing roster of artist clients and to add a new string to the company's bow with the additional of a few key producers/mixers including Jimmy Douglass, Ben H. Allen and Ed Raso amongst others. In addition to his activities in the music industry, in 1995 Paul founded and ran Big P.A. Productions in the UK that was a sporting events company that provided Match Day presentation services to clubs around the country. The company continues to trade although he is no longer involved. MILLIE MILLGATE Millie Millgate Millie has been employed as the Creative Director for MusicNSW ( www.musicnsw.com) since September 2005. In this position she is responsible for overseeing the Associations' key projects, in particular, VROOM (Venue Resource of Original Music), Indent (Youth Network for All Ages Event Organisers), SXSW Tour Manager and Sound Summit (Electronic and hip-hop Conference). Millie is the recently appointed Executive Director of the Association of Artist Managers (Australia) and an active member of the Australian Music Industry Network (AMIN), heading up their international initiatives. Simultaneous to her role with MusicNSW, Millie is also the Music Director for Garage Industries Pty Ltd, an entertainment company whose management roster includes Sydney artists The Camels and 3Seven7 as well as producing the record-breaking film "Bra Boys", which she also Music Supervised. Millie has been a member of the Australian Music Industry for over twelve years. Predominately in the live arena, she has been engaged asthe venue booker for The Hopetoun and Annandale Hotels, the Entertainment Manager at Macquarie University Union and undertaken a number of positions for various Festivals (Homebake, Big Day Out, Livid,Cockatoo Island, Legs 11, Equinox and Summersault). As well as employed positions, Millie has held volunteer roles on various boards that include; Arts Training NSW, FBi Radio, Association Of Campus Activities (AACA) and MusicNSW. In 2004, Millie was contracted by the Canadian Consulate General to write a handbook for Canadian artists which resulted in the creation of The Southern Compass - A "HowTo" Guide To Touring Australia. ARI NISMAN Ari Nisman is the President & CEO of Degy Entertainment, the umbrella entity for Degy Booking International, Inc. and Degy Management Services, Inc. A graduate from the University of Michigan in Business Communications, Ari signed his first music client at age 21. Since then, he has helped shape the careers of nearly 300 music acts who have gone on to sell over 10 million albums combined. Currently one of the leading booking agencies in the college and military markets, along with an exclusive roster of acts racing up the charts, Degy Booking prides itself on developing talent through "smart and educated touring". Ari's current, exclusive booking roster includes nationally touring acts such as Rehab (Universal/Republic), Street Drum Corps (Universal/Interscope), Jupiter One (Warner/Ryko), National Product (R&M), Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root, and over 50 others. JIM POWERS Owner of the Chicago-based music label Minty Fresh. Artists past and present include the Cardigans (Sweden) White Shoes & the Couples Co. Ms. Walker is working with Grammy nominated producer, Tommy Faragher, on her debut CD, with a Fall 2008 release date. She was awarded GMIA's President's Award for volunteer service in 1997.
