CHICK FLICK (& Mild "Spoiler") ALERT!!!

Director Paul Weiland brings us MADE OF HONOR...a Tale of a Very Successful NY City-Dwellin' Bachelor-Guy, Tom (Patrick Dempsey), who invents the Coffee Collar..to add to his already sizable Family Wealth. Has a Philandering Father, (by Sydney Pollack) who's on his 6th..(or is it 7th?)..Trophy-Wife..settling the Latest Divorce as he wraps up the Pre-Nups & gets on with His Latest Wedding.

Tom's got a bunch of "Rules" he's made-up along-the-way that preclude his ever settling-down like Daddy Does..which makes good sense..AND he's acquired a regular "side-kick" of a gal (Michelle Monaghan as Hannah) he's extra-good "friends"-with over the last Decade..BUT has never "Committed-to". And she's NOT into "sports-ego-sex" guys..told him that the first time they met at Cornell..so Hannah's NOT on his regular "Bimbo-List" we assume..

Yet..when Tom needs "Arm Candy" she's always been there for him, & accepted life on his terms..at least, for the last Decade.

Tom's of course, the Envy of his Posse..a mixed-bunch of Basketballers who range from the Dateless-Dweeb to the Other Hunks..who've-Married. A wealthier, More-Independent Bachelor than Tom is hard-to-imagine!

But..the Sweet-yet-Savvy Hannah's Art-Restorer Career takes her to the UK on-assignment for several rare Weeks-Away. And..now, strangely-lonely Tom realizes his Sunday Event Arm-Date means MORE than he'd ever thought...&..he can't wait to Finally Pop The Question to Hannah when she returns.

Unfortunately for Tom, Hannah returns WITH a Fiancee..(Kevin McKidd as Colin McMurray)..a Scotsman who beats Tom in ALL Categories: He's Huge, Handsomer, Wealthier (Wait'll ya see The Ring and The Castle!)..More-Athletic (what a Caber-Tosser!) and, after schmucking Tom at basketball with Tom's "Homies", the Apres-Shower Scene [tastefully] reveals he's even "Better-Endowed"!)

So What's a "Loser" to Do? Well, that's where the Movie's Title kicks in: Hannah asks her best friend TOM to Do The Honors..& since it's his Last Chance to Woo-Her-Away, he accepts. Her Sister..(or maybe her Best Female Friend..I've forgotten already)..Melissa (Well-Played by Blond-Beauty Busy Philipps) WANTED the "Maid of Honor" Honors. She's ALSO one of Tom's "Fling-ees"..so there are a number of Great Scenes where the 3 Other Bridesmaids gather together & "Sis" sets Tom up for Disaster-&-Disappointment..and LOTS of Good Laughs!

Plenty of Good Screenwriting by Adam Szykiel and Deborah Kaplan.

As Enjoyable Chick-Flicks Go, "Made Of Honor" is Great Fun en-route to a LOT of Scotish Wedding Tradition, a WILD Horse Ride, and a Nice Wedding Scene at The End. The Preview Audience Applauded & So Do I: "8-Outta-10". A Well-Acted & Delivered Date Movie I think 99-outta-100 Gals will really enjoy..& unless you're a REALLY, REALLY "Committed Bachelor", I think MOST of My Bros out there will enjoy it too.

Applause-Applause!

JMO..Keep-or-Sweepit!

Big Hugs,
Stan
