I wrote this son for my adult son and daughter. I used Sumo for the vox and music but the lyrics are mine, word for word. Please take a listen. Thank you.

I’m Still Here
(An Ode to my Daughter and Son)
Copyright 2026 OpenMikeMusic
v1
Did I cross your mind today? Is life still moving fast?
I know how time can slip away
when you think it’s gonna last.
Has it been that long? Oh how my little ones have grown.
So proud of you and your family (Boo),
I just wanted you to know…
ch
...that I’m still here
And I’m just fine.
It’s the same ole, same ole,
same ole lonely nights.
But you know me,
I’ll be alright.
I just need to hear your voice
from time to time.
‘cause I’m still here...
...and you’re still mine.
v2
If I could do it over, I’d do it all again.
I wouldn’t spend all that time
with those demons in my head.
I would have held you closer, Bo, let Jesus lead the way.
And love you from a place
I didn’t know until today.
But I’m still here.
And I’m just fine.
It’s the same ole same regrets
that keep me up at night.
But you know me,
I’ll be alright.
It’s just good to know you’re safe
and my “littles” fine.
‘Cause I’m still here…
...And you’re still mine.
Br
All you saw were remnants
of a child so badly scarred,
un-reconciled inside a broken man.
I look back now, it shames me how
I tried to hide my love,
and shared with you
my bleeding scars, instead.
v3
Can you tell your Mama all I’ve said to you.
I’m glad she found the peace
I never could.
Thank you for holding on as long as you did.
But if it all goes bad, again
I’ll be here for good.
Ch
‘cause I’m still Here
and I’m just fine.
Not the same ole man still
lookin’ for a fight.
Will you know me?
In a different light?
It’s just good to hear you, both
from time to time.
‘Cause I’m still here.
And you’re still mine.
Repeat x 2.
