First, the nut has to be right. The slots could be too narrow for the string gauge you are using. Unlikely unless you have changed something. Next, the bottom of the nut slot could have a burr on it or otherwise be snagging the string. Take a piece of fine sandpaper, fold it in half and run it through each slot. The bottom of the nut should slope down towards the tuners so the string rides on the front edge of the slot (closest to the body). You can buy lube called nut sauce but I just powder some graphite from the end of a pencil and mix in some vaseline. Use sparingly.
