Brian,

In this agreement buy-out means this particular client can use it license free perpetually. Though he’s required to submit cue sheets to ASCAP when applicable. However, myself and the publisher can still license this track to other clients. Kind of an unusual agreement. This producer could have used a “one time” license at a fraction of the cost, but chose to use the buy-out option. Which hopefully means he’ll be using it more.

“Is your material in a lot of libraries?” I now have about 1,500 tracks spread out in 15 different libraries. Though only 3 of them get placements on a regular basis. To my delight, some of my classical piano tracks have been used on all three major networks in the last year.

Have you tried TAXI out? Yes, they’re the guys that got me started in this business. My first placement came from TAXI which happened to be a classical piece as well. Dateline NBC used it several times over a two year period.

My favorite Manilow jingle is “Stuck On Me” (Band-Aid Brand). He also did the State Farm and Stridex commercials, among others. Love the guy! smile

Thanks for the encouragement Brian. I appreciate it.

Best, John smile
