Here is a produced version of an FAWM song called I'm Amazed. All comments welcome. Probably qualifies as folk-rock or just folk. [color:#3333FF][size:14pt]I'm Amazed

Hi Colin, I love this soft flowing music and I think it fits the mood perfectly. This is a very sweet song and it feels sincere. To me the bridge didn’t feel right being past tense since the rest of the song is in the present, could just be me though. Bridge Every day with you Got gets better as we grew grow, I know you lose that rhyme but I think the bridge will still work without it.Closer than we’d we've ever been before, It seems like just a year, Since we overcame the fear, And took the plunge in 1984 Dottie

Putting that Gasoline and Cigarettes CD together really developed your production skills immensely. Everything you "produce" nowadays sounds pretty top notch to me. I would consider moving that little percussion thing out of the center, it seems to compete with the vocal just a tad.
Nice guitar work as usual.

Dottie,
Good catch. I will probably revise that at some point.
Kevin,
OK on both counts. Appreciate your comments. Actually I have been using some production methods from that series of YouTubes you posted in January.

Colin,
Sweet song (and I didn't copy my thoughts from Dottie, I had the same thought too!! LOL!!)
Sort of a fantasy song right, if one can really believe in such a thing...
I think the song and vocal are great, I only have one suggestion.
When you sing "beam", you sing it from the back of your mouth. If you re-sing it and think about lifting that word (by pushing the air more into your head or focusing it forward) you will pronounce it better, right now it has a long beeem sound. I only am mentioning it because it is at the beginning of the song, I don't know if this is because of how you sing or if you have an accent, it just stood out for me, but I'm a choral singer and stuff like that is what I was trained to listen for. Keep or Sweep, just wanted to mention it.

Nice, but I'd like to hear that hook sooner than 1:08.

Travis,
Thanks for your comments. Glad you like it.
Tammy,
Thanks and glad you like it. I will try recording beam more clearly. Might be my Brit accent getting in the way!
Michael,
Glad you like it - thanks.
Shayne,
Thanks - OK on the hook at 1:08. Guess I could shorten the intro or add a chorus after V1...mmmm.

I have not reworked the vocals but I have moved the shaker a bit.

It's all there Colin. Not sure about the panning of the shaker. It's almost as if it's been left out in the cold. Maybe panned too far. Vic

Hi Colin,
I listened to this over a week ago and never got back to tell you that I love it! The story flows really smoothly, the music is great...just works for me!
The only thing that slightly threw me in the beginning was that he smelled the coffee, but then she was lying next to him, and I was thinking, "who got up to make the coffee?" And then I started thinking of a timed coffee maker. But then...it says that she'd been playing possum so it all worked!

Cool tune Colin. Production is top notch. I think the shaker or whatever it is could be brought back in the mix. It gets a bit distracting to my ears. Other than that, Allison Krauss has nothing on you.

Neil,
Thanks for checking it out.
Stevie,
Glad you like it. The shaker is subject to change and hard to get perfect. I'll keep working on it.

Colin, I really like the chord progressions with this song. The melody and tempo hold your attetiion well. I kind of agree with Shane about maybe bringing in the hook sooner. I'm anxious to see some good drumming with this tune-don't believe I heard any in the mix. The song demands an upbeat percussion. I know you will tweak things, would like to hear that 12 string solo a bit louder. I like this a lot Colin, sorry I haven't listened to it sooner, been quite busy with normal work and my other projects that you are also aware of. Very nice. steady-eddie.

Ed,
Thanks for checking it out. I was going for a folksy/bluegrassy feel and left out the drums for that reason. But now i will have to try it with drums and see how it sounds.

Overall, a pretty tune. I've never heard you sing better. I like this range in your vocal, a little higher than usual. Didn't miss drums. Shaker? --as mentioned--needs to come down a bit/less centered---try 20 L or R.
You always insert your minor chords at the right time. That's all about feel, confidence, and knowing what's right for the song. You do all of it effortlessly.

Hi Colin,
Very nice tune. I've gotta agree with zeek--your vocals were some of the best I've heard from you. It's nice to listen to an all around feel good song. Nice job, Roger

Thanks very much. I appreciate the nice comment!
Roger,
Thanks to you too. Thinks I'm finally starting to find the very small sweet spot for my voice.
