This is an updated version of a song I posted here some time ago. I picked up the pace, and added a chorus. What does anyone think? Thanks in advance for giving it a spin! Todd http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=8006869I PRAY TO YOU Todd G. Strachan 2009 V1 Heavenly Father I thank You now. I am unworthy, but You love me somehow. I just seem to mess, my life up, I pray to You, and You lift me up! Chorus I pray to You, to You. I pray to You, to You. V2 Heavenly Father, You're full of grace! Your love is like honey, sweet to the taste. I don't know why You love me like You do, I do know this, I sure am glad You do! Chorus V3 Phihippians 4: 6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which trancends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Chorus V4 Bless me, and keep me in Your care. You are my comfort, I will not despair. When I need You, I cry out in prayer. Heal me Father, when my words You hear. I pray to You, to You. I pray to You, to You. Yes I do, I pray to You. I pray to You, to You.

Hey Todd, I really like the message your song is sharing. I like the words...You are my comfort, I will not despair. Very beautiful words and I think you did a great job. Keep up the great spirit you show in your song. Keep writing this type of music (songs). Dottie

Thanks Dottie! I write mainly Christian rock/pop type songs, and have been for some time now. All are in various stages of completion. Even on the songs that I've written that aren't Christian God still gets the glory, after all he gave me the little talent I have!

Hi, Todd!
Very uplifting sound to the music, and of course I always love a Christian message. Great praise song!! Thanks for sharing, and God Bless you for doing His work!

Todd http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=8006869I PRAY TO YOU Todd G. Strachan 2009 V1 Heavenly Father I thank You now. I am unworthy, but You love me somehow. I just seem to mess, my life up, I think you're forcing the rhyme here....shouldn't it read "I just seem to mess up my life? I pray to You, and You lift me up! Chorus I pray to You, to You. I pray to You, to You. The chorus sounds more like a prechorus....I was waiting for a chorus to kick in...thought there was a good opportunity to do that...listing things you're thankful for through imagery/metaphors/analogies, etc. V2 Heavenly Father, You're full of grace! Your love is like honey, sweet to the taste. I don't know why You love me like You do, I do know this, I sure am glad You do! Not a fan of using the same 2 words in these lines for your rhymes..."You do"...plus I think you could come up with something better than that last line...almost sounds like a kid is saying it. Todd, you lost me on the spoken parts. Believe me, I understand what you're trying to do here, and as a Christian who plays at m church with a kicked up musical choir, I applaud your efforts. I like the upbeat feel of your music. But I think there are ways to work in music with those passages that you spoke. Pretty much all those Psalms have music put to them. Here's a guy that is the main musical director at my church. He's a monster writer and has never spoken a word in his songs.Zeekcheck out his site http://www.ocp.org/tomkendzia

Thanks Stevie! I think I'm noticing some big "pop" in the chorus on the word pray. I thinks me should redo the vocs! Ah well, the best laid plans of mice and musicians.........

Thanks for checkin this out Zeek, and for the suggestions.
You said "I think you're forcing the rhyme here....shouldn't it read "I just seem to mess up my life?" The way I look at it, I mess my life up, God forgives me and gives me strength to continue on. On that one I think I'm gonna keep it.
You said "The chorus sounds more like a prechorus", this I will mull over. I'm not a big pattern guy, where everything has to be just so, but I understand what you are saying, and it is something I have thought about before. I am fairly limited in my guitar playing abilities. SO coming up with a chorus progression I like has been a challenge.
You said "Not a fan of using the same 2 words in these lines for your rhymes..."You do"...plus I think you could come up with something better than that last line...almost sounds like a kid is saying it." Well this is a simple song. Its not lennon and Mc Cartney thats for sure. This is Todd thanking God for continuing to bless me even at my worst. Not alot of style but all my heart. But I will consider this as well.
You said "Todd, you lost me on the spoken parts. Believe me, I understand what you're trying to do here, and as a Christian who plays at m church with a kicked up musical choir, I applaud your efforts. I like the upbeat feel of your music. He's a monster writer and has never spoken a word in his songs"
First off this is from Paul's letter to the Phillipians, not Psalms, so it was never put to music that I know of, until I did it. Could be wrong on that but I havent heard it done. No way I could sing it without changing everything. Have you ever heard Ragged ole Flag by Johnny Cash? He speaks the entire song. Or Red Skelton recite the Pledge of Allegiance? This passage of scripture is strong like those, it fits the song, and you are the first to bring this up outta all the places I've placed it. It doesn't make you wrong, it just doesn't work for you, and thats ok. Speaking parts seem to run in alot of country songs by the way, at least the classic country tunes anyways.
Straight up Zeek, I appreciate your honesty in the crit. You tell me what you feel/think without malice, and thats a good thing! You not liking some part of a song, (or the song itself) and telling me it was just peachy! does me no good. I'd rather hear the nits. At least I know your thoughts. Thanks! I will also check out the link you left!
Todd
