I entered the SingSnap.com All-Stars Official Contest last weekend…. and today I found out… OH WOW!! I made the Finals!! Judging is 50% CREATIVITY of the overall page and theme, and 50% SINGING. A lot of entries I saw and really liked were not on this list…. I am humbled and amazed and just plain happy. I have never entered a singing competition before – and I recorded this live and outdoors via webcam, which gave it its own set of mic’ing and other issues, but…….. wow….. this is a cool moment for me!! Even just making the Finals feels really, really good. I stood out over 701 other entries to get this far…. I am amazed. I know it's kind of small change to many of you who've had cuts on records and/or big CD sales etc., but for li'l ol' me this is some very nice validation. Happy sigh – Linda

Your increasing confidence is allowing you to put yourself out there more, and see what happened!?...Congrats!
Keep it all going! Focus on all aspects of singing even more now, since you will have to live up to your increasing reputation!
Phrasing, timing, dynamics, communicating the lyrics, pitch, etc.
Ah,,,you already know all that! LOL

Thank you guys!! You are all wonderful!! Special kudos to Scott for doing the math.... haha .... my accountant hubby popped his calculator out last nite at dinner and came up with 4.7% ..... so Scott is right... I am figuring out this is a Big Deal Contest over on SingSnap. I think I'm glad I didn't realize that before I read the contest rules and thought "I can enter that..." and picked a song to sing. The performance itself IMO is still less than stellar, but it was a VERY quick turnaround - about 4 days from finding out about it to plunking down the entry, including learning the song and overplaying it on my iPod to DEATH. Here's my latest Challenge entry - there were no prizes for this one - and this is more comedy acting than singing but I'll post it here, what the heck - most people laughed We were asked for a "challenge" by the owner of the site, Trevor, to come to Rock Class (to sing a rock song) .... "wear your schoolgirl uniforms.... and bring a gift for Teacher! Yes, I can be *bought!!*" Well I couldn't quite leave that _alone._ BWHAHAAHA Sooo.... my character "Helen the Negative Psychic" showed up to give Teacher Trevor a "reading" as his "gift." It's more of a roast. LOL. And YES he saw it -- and YES, he laughed. He got a kick out of it too. (whew!)
