Here is a new Traditional/Country demo from the three of us. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10647598REAL LOVE LOOKS LIKE THAT © 2010 Janice Hopkins/Greg C. Brown/Sharla Shore I sat down with Mom at breakfast She said, I know there's something on your mind Told her, I think I love Bobby But I don't know if it’s the lasting kind. She told me, go watch Gramps and Nanna They’ve had fifty years to get it right So if you wanna see what love is Watch the little things in their lives Chorus: Like when he gets up every Saturday When he could be sleeping late Makes her toast, brews the coffee While she lies in bed and waits Later on he drives her to the market lets her right out by the door parks the car, walks through puddles as it pours When shopping's done he carries every bag Well, Real Love, real love Looks Like That…… Verse I started watchin’ them so often And it didn't take me long to see That what they have is something special So very subtle, gentle and sweet Chorus 2: when she asks him if he took his pills That she’d laid out by his plate Dear don’t forget your wallet Wear your coat, it’s cold today always in the kitchen waiting He gets a kiss right by the door When I see that, I think I couldn’t want much more A few more years I hope I’m where they’re at 'Cause Real Love, real love Looks Like That Bridge: She loves to watch old movies Ones where the hero often dies He pretends he doesn’t notice The tears in her eyes…. Chorus 3: So he tries real hard to make her laugh With another silly joke Then he hands her one more tissue As if he doesn’t really know That this sweet woman feels so deeply, it's the reason he loves her still That's the kind of love I really wanna feel I hope one day my own child will look back Saying…… Real Love, real love Looks Like That…… Outro: It’s the little things that all add up To a loving welcome mat….. YEAH....... Real Love.......ONLY REAL LOVE... REAL LOVE Looks JUST Like That

I read the lyrics and I said "Hey, this is a good story and it flows real nice". The music was kinda shocking -- it did not fit anywhere close to my pre-conceived notion of what I was going to hear. The music sounds good, it just covers up the story, in my opinion.

Just gave this a listen as was really blown away! Too bad this type of country music gets so little exposure now days, but this is one of the best I have heard. It reminds me a lot of some of the stuff Janie Fricke did back in the early 1980's. Can't think of any female singer off hand who's doing that now. Even Reba seems to have moved way away from her country roots.
Peace, Brian

Kevin....thanks so much for stopping by and for weighing in honestly....as usual. Sorry we shocked you, but if I can do nothing else as a songwriter, well....at least I'm good at shocking the masses every once in awhile....can't beat that with a stick! HA....Have a good one, my friend.

Cranking out the hits???? Hey....I WISH!!!! I keep plugging along at it, with the help of some darned fine co-writers.
Hope all is well with you. Nice hearing from you...and thanks so much.

Hi Jan, Greg, and Sharla,
I first caught this one on Songramp. I loved it then and still do. LOl. I wouldn't say the music shocked me--but maybe it's just me. I think it fits the song perfectly--and quite frankly I hope we do get to hearing more music like this on the radio. I know you can still hear good ol songs like this in Europe--so why not here. Absolutely perfect all the way around. Great job by all, Roger

Hi Kevin.
Thanks for giving our tune a few minutes of your time. I guess being shocked by the music could be a good thing, especially if it gives the song a unique and surprising twist. I get the impression, though, that the music, which you seemed to like, didn't fit the lyric, which you also liked. I've felt that way before about songs also. I'm curious what you were expecting to hear.
We appreciate your honest feedback. Means a lot to us.

Hi Brian. Thanks for the visit and the encouraging words. Maybe we'll be part of a wave of resurgence in bringing traditional sounding country music back.
We're thrilled you like the song. Thanks for listening.

Roger,
Thanks for giving this a read and a listen. We appreciate that and are all glad that you liked what you heard. There should always be room for a Traditional one...now and then. I hope we never lose that...completely.
Thanks again...

Greg I don't think there is anything wrong with the musical treatment, I just imagined it more in the This Ain't Nothing style, tempo and delivery. It came across as more "serious" to me. EDIT: If I had listened before reading, I might have had a 100% different opinion -- you never can tell about this things. Kevin

Hi Janice, Greg and Sharla I thought I had commented on this but I see I haven’t. It’s a nice story as always and I think the music suits it very well. Whoever is singing is doing a very good job too. Dottie

Hi you guys,
Nice job. Great production I like the hook in the chorus with the music break "Real love looks like that".
I would like to hear more of this style again. My only crit would be to make the chorus stand out more from the verse. Maybe change up that base line and rythm.
I enjoyed it a lot. g

Just great! Only thing, if I had been doing the music, would be to use "Real Love" just once, drawn out, and then the pause followed by, "Looks Like That". A tidier, more memorable and stronger hook since that's your actual title.
Great job nonetheless!
Best Regards and Aloha,
Charlie

I like this, sound good, feels good.
One nit...in the bridge.
"he pretends not to notice the tears in her eyes"
I was expecting to hear something like....
"he reaches for a tissue or he has a tissue ready reaches over to dry her eyes"
Just b/c he knows her so well. It's lovely either way though.
Enjoyed it.

Thank you Miss C....Long time no see (or hear). Hope all is well with you and yours.
So glad that you listened to this one for Greg and I. We have done a whole lot of writing together thus far...and plan to do much more....so keep watch, huh?
Fine sugg. that you had for the bridge....if we could meter that right there....it could work...thanks.
Take care, Jan
