Here is another of my FAWM songs reworked as a full band version. All comments welcome.....

[color:#3333FF][size:14pt]You'll Regret It

You’ll Regret It Copyright ©2011 Colin Ward

V1
Everybody’s stopping at the railroad track,
Not sure the train’s ever coming back,
You took off sailing on another tack,
I wish you would forget it

Chorus
Oooh – why don’t you come back home,
Change your mind, call my phone,
Oooh - Give up your crazy scheme,
Twist and turn and change midstream,
Before you regret it

V2
Looking for some grass that’s much more green,
Giving up on the place where your heart has been,
Decided you wanted a change of scene,
I’m sure you’ll regret it

Chorus

Instrumental verse

Bridge
You headed west without a dime,
Sure wasn’t what was on my mind,
I wish you luck, hope you find someone,
Cause One day I may be gone,
And you’ll regret it

V3
The words spilled out all over the ground,
And the bad news spread when you turned around,
You’ll wake up in the lost and found
Was balanced, but you’ve upset it

Chorus

Pretty good recording -- lots of nice instrumentation in there and the vocal is placed right where it should be.

It is solid, but nothing makes me go "wow!" (a problem I have with most of my tunes -- ha, ha).

You had a good FAWM, didn't you?

Kevin,

Thanks for listening. I guess it did not move you...... maybe the next one will!!

I have 14 songs that have potential from FAWM. Just got to plug away at them.

Colin,
I like this. Here are my thoughts (if you want them). I really like the start of the chorus with the chord change and the ooh, it pulled me right in. But at the third line of the chorus you lost me. What if you repeated the ooh again like

Ooh - why don't you come back home, change your mind, call my phone
Ooh - give up this crazy scheme, twist and turn, change midstream

and I hear another line here (something that rhymes with regret it) with a couple beats of instrumentation and then fall with the Before you regret it. I think that would drive that last line home a little better. Actually, the line you used at the end of the first verse could be perfect...

Oh I wish you'd just forget it....(da da da da - those are drums lol)...before you regret it. I can sing it, but can't communicate it too well!

Just a thought? Cool song though.

Tracy

Hi Colin,

It sounds good to me. I'd love to see the lyric too, you know I can't comment much on the music, other then saying if I like it or not. smile

Tracy,

Of course I want your comments! Thanks - I understand our suggestions and will see what I can use.

Dottie,

The lyrics are on the Soundclick page. I want people to at least go there and listen first. The first day this was posted with lyrics, I got 26 views, 6 listens and one comment. I prefer people to listen first, then comment on the lyrics if they wish - not the other way round.

Colin,

I do listen, I'm sorry I didn't know the lyric was there. I open the song and look here for the lyric here, I just never look there! I like to read the lyric when I hear the song. Did you think I didn't listen? lol

Love the soothing vocals,

The music treatment over all had a great pace and the solos were sweet.

Hi Colin, I remember this one's lyrics. I heard it with more attitude, than country (older fashioned country at that) but this works fine.

I feel the bridge melody is off, I can't put my finger on it, maybe perhaps you are trying to go too high in your vocal? But other than this, I enjoyed it

Kim:)

Hi Nearby-Neighbor-Guy!

Hmm..my ol' Laptop died 4X before I gave up on hopin' to hear your Bridge. What I DID hear was very well sung & orchestrated.

For me, Lyrics-Wise, took-a-while to rhyme that hook. "Been" also made for a weird Rhyme/hadda be sung VEDDY British to get that one in. Pardon my Picky-Pickedness..just wanted to let ya know I'm Aware.

One a One-to-10 scale for "Pleasantness" this one's near 10 for being Enjoyable-Listening. I'd addit'ly Sug "Your" Schemes...insteada "those" or whatever it was Schemes there on the Lyrics-Page. KOS the Sugs, & Good Luck with a Nice One, Amigo!

Best Wishes & a Cross The Bay Guy-Hug,
Stan

Nelson,

Thanks - glad you like it!

Kim,

Interesting that you heard it a different way. That's how I feel when interpreting someone else's lyrics....how did they hear it?!!! The bridge chord progression and melody are relatively unusual - designed to give the ear a change of pace......sounds like they may have changed too much for you!

Michele,

The lyrics are on the Soundclick page.

Stan,

Thanks for the suggestions - it's beeen a while. I like "Your" rather than "this".

Petra,

Thanks!

I like this Colin especially with the last lines changing as the song progresses.

Just one thing Im not sure of...

When I first read and heard 'Looking for some GRASS', I thought of something else, then the rest of the line put me straght.
But not sure on 'much more green'anyways.

Looking for a place you've never seen

Just a though KOS God Bless Roy and Helen

Thanks for the suggestion Roy. Of course, my line is based on the saying "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" but it apparently fell flat with you!

I will mull over your suggestion.

I did realise what you meant Colin so it didnt fall flat.

Just didnt think some would speak those words 'much more green' in normal conversation.

That grass is much more green, just dosnt sound right.

Maybe just me though....

Colin,
I do like that additional ooo in the chorus. It balances it and makes me sing along. I still think it could use a little air in the last line of the chorus, but maybe that is just me. I love the drums coming out of the last verse into the last chorus. Nice production.

Decent mix and well produced IMO. The lyric is strong in it's structure and the vocals highlite it well.

No "nits" from the north.

Tracy,

OK - I would have to start over to add the air so I will wait on that.

Doug, Tony and Bob,

Glad you all like it. One of my fourteen February Album Writing Month songs.
