Hi Folks,

As part of a world wide program I hope to launch in 2011, I want to start off with our friends already here on the message boards. If you would like to chat via Skype with myself or others, please post your Skype contact and let's give it a try. You can always decline requests to chat (i.e. you must accept someone before they can contact you) or turn it off completely if you change your mind.

My contact is listed 2 ways: Brian Austin Whitney as well as just.plain.folks so post yours and let's start a face to face chat ring. It's all free to use and with a decent connection, it works really well.

Brian

Brian

This is a great idea! I've been thinking a lot recently about ways to promote collaboration between various artists here, lyricists looking for musicians and musicians looking to expand and increase their experience and skill. I've posted several threads on this subject.

But this is the best idea of all Brian. Professional song-writers talk to each-other, develop a professional (and sometimes personal) relationship with each-other and work as a team.

Better yet is that Skype allows members to work together in real time, jam on-line share ideas and become aware of each members individual way of working.

There's a real chance here of bringing many JPF members together in a more profound way as artists and friends.

If we could 'conference call' who knows maybe we could set up the first JPF virtual band!

I'm in!

hopefully the FCC ruling wont hurt SKYPE

I remember reading somewhere that they worried about being squeezed by the internet and telecom giants who want to "manage their networks most effectively".........we shall see just who gets screwed in the name of that goal......

Polly, I'm gonna add you to my list!

I'm not on Skype this days due to computer problems; once that gets cleared up I may participate. But Brian, here's an even farther step to consider....VIRTUAL JPF TOUR!!! In other words, the chapters organize the shows themselves, including a computer with Skype and projector, then YOU turn up online to emcee the show from your comfy chair! smile

Cool! I mean cool idea and Skype itself,
first I converse live with my son living in Australia,
second we spent some live songwriting sessions with my

I am not online a lot and out working etc so would prefer an email or PM to set up suitable time when to call.
Perhaps our skype address could be placed in our profiles. Brian could add Skype to the profile info so we could fill in our details rather than a Skype list.

Like Jim, I'd prefer to set something up beforehand by PM or email. I rarely use Skype, so am seldom 'online'. When I am, it means I'm already talking to someone.

Having Skype addresses in the profile information is a good idea.

Oh fun! I'm in. Tho I look awful on webcam IMHO!! Oh well.... LOL

I am "adamszoo68" and I am not running the program much, so also need to be scheduled. Maybe I'll have it on more. It would be way fun to see you all "Live."

Even if it adds 50# to my face. Haha.

OK, update, I just created Skype "LindaOfficial" --- so it matches everything else I do professionally online.

ALSO: while we wait for an official "Skype" line in the profile - meanwhile I filled mine in under "Hobbies." Just a thought!

Well I found him smile He's the Mike Caro (name) in NEW YORK listed as "Songwriter, Producer" etc. whose Skype name comes up as "substudio2"

(and I'll edit that out Mike, if you don't want it posted but it was pretty easy to sort thru the 34 Mike Caro's! and you said you were 'in' and can refuse anyone you like grin so... fair game?)

ColmT is findable on Skype under the email address listed in your profile:
colmt AT dublin.com

or, that email comes up as Skype username
brandy.jack

But Colm if you don't put a shirt on, I am not Skyping you grin LOL!!!

You can search by:
Real Name
Skype Name
Email Address
and/or Phone Number

Gosh it's so easy to stalk people. This is way too easy, folks. ROFL.........

Linda

(resident JPF creeper today, hahahha -ah - hahaaha)

PS: I wouldn't post either of those if it didn't look like either of you just forgot to give your Skype name out here... or were otherwise hiding where you are via JPF profile info, and I'll edit/take that down if you want. But you were easy-squeezy to find.)

PPS: Jeff Epstein, DonnaMarilyn, you may not have unintentionally left off your Skype info smile AND you two are smart and savvy enough to be more difficult to cyber-stalk. Can't find you on Skype just from your JPF listed info.

PPPS: R1NGG1T - or Ian - You don't NEED a webcam to use Skype. You can text-IM too. OR, view the others' webcam while you text back your messages. Same as YahooIM or AIM or MSN or whichever.

PPPPS: Skype now also connects with Facebook.

I put in Mike.Caro and it came up as location
Lincolnshire United Kingdom. Did you move Mike?

Well I found him smile He's the Mike Caro (name) in NEW YORK listed as "Songwriter, Producer" etc. whose Skype name comes up as "substudio2"

(and I'll edit that out Mike, if you don't want it posted but it was pretty easy to sort thru the 34 Mike Caro's! and you said you were 'in' and can refuse anyone you like grin so... fair game?)

Linda

Hi

Yes I'm good to go it's substudio2
And I agree PM in advance is a great idea. This way we can coordinate a time.

I'm around smile

Thanks!
Peace Mike

I think Colm should do what he wants and just maybe there are some here that might be enjoying it...

Folks,

You can just put my contact into your list. I won't likely make outgoing contacts to anyone and if I did you don't have to accept requests, nor do you even have to make your account available at any given time. Just set it to "away" for example... or don't launch it. No one should feel remotely pressured to post and get involved. I expect I will have more folks than I can chat with eventually. I was just trying to give regulars here an advantage if you all wanted to be involved before we launch it to the entire org.

As for me adding stuff to the profiles etc.. that's not possible, at least not with this version of the board software. I've been waiting (along with many others) for version 8.0 to come out before we update it since it's a pain and causes the board to be down a day or more to update nearly a million pages.

You could, however, just add it into any other field available so it shows up, including your signature.

By the way, my CPU is online nearly 24/7. So don't be bothered if it's on and you call and there's no answer. I am probably sleeping or out of the room.

Breian

Thanks Linda, I didn't know that! I'll give it a try soon :-) I don't have internet access 24/7 though, email is still the best way to reach me. ian

Should be able to Ben. Most things like Skype can be directed to the sound card or whatever you are using

Okay Poll (et al)

This is Rock an' Roll, not a local gig down OH parish hall way! Judge me on my music, my creativity and my lack of clothes - as you will!

Think abut people like us -- we want some-one to believe in us rather than any sense of belongingness! Irish poetry again - I guess!n!

I believe in myself - I don't need belief! I have belief!

That said belongingness as yet eluded me!

Thanks All

Thanks for putting up with me Colm! grin
You have belonging-ness. If I didn't like ya I wouldn't joke with ya.

Now I'm worried, you said "lack of clothes" not um, "lack of a shirt."
Polllyyyyyyyyyyy...... now what?!?

Roy: OK OK that's a "no" on the string vest... ick! Maybe no shirt is better than a scary shirt.
Hm.

All right I have now well and thoroughly demonstrated my other talent, that of easily derailing a thread topic.

TANGENT!
(Ha! Made you look)

I now return you to stating your Skype ID's please!
(sorry Brian...)

Colm, you have belongingness whether you like it or not! smile Linda, he's too cool for clothes!

However, anyone planning on Skyping nude should probably forewarn the recipient of their call. grin

Okay, back to our regularly scheduled programming (I've been such a thread hijacker lately!)

To stay on topic...

Ben, yes you should be able to connect Skype to your mic and just talk without video. You should be able to "see" someone Skyping you who has a webcam, too.
