Greetings fellow JPFers, I got together with Johnny G over at The Proud Lion in Tampa and we decided the best date for the chapter and the venue would be Sunday, August 9th 2009. We will kick off with a meet and greet session at 1:pm (a sign up sheet will be circulated at this time)then a guest speaker (TBA) around 1:45, then hit the stage about 2:30 with you, the best all around performing artists in Tampa Bay. Between now and then while you're out and about please help to spread the word about this event so that we can have a stellar turn out and make it the most fun possible. Keep Strummin' Al Alvarez and Jerry Jakala Coordinators - Tampa Bay Chapter JPF

In the meantime we can also work on the songs online on my Ustream Channel at: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/legacy-of-thorAll you need is a mic and camcorder. The possibilities are endless. I can even replay the old JPF Showcase videos if anyone is interested. Everyone's welcome to join in. Just let me know when is a convenient time and I'll set it up.

Steve is going to be out of town for this showcase so we need a drummer to fill in with Horse Feather's. Brenda are you available? Al?

The guest speaker this month is our own Andy Karpinski. Andy will be talking about home recording. His home recordings rival any studio that I've heard so Andy does know his stuff. Home recording is a large territory so Andy is picking a subject that will be of interest to all of us. The exact topic will be announced next week.

Good to see some of our dear old friends will be joining us. I'm also looking forward to hearing Andy speak on Home Recording as I've heard his CDs and they are really well produced. By the way Jerry if you don't have a drummer by showtime I'll be glad to sit in on congas, artists willing of course. Who else is joining us? Come on now don't be shy..... Unfortunately Horse Feather's has no drummer this month so we decided not to perform. Some of the rock songs are just worthless without a drummer. I will be performing a couple of my originals as a solo act.

Sorry to hear about Horsefeathers not performing but maybe thats something we could bring up at the meeting. Maybe theres a closet drummer in the chapter. Hey Jeff glad your coming out for the showcase. Please let Lisa know that we would love to see her as well. Becky will be there.... By the way I remember when M.J. did that song. "I'll Be There" man I would sing at the top of my lungs along with my brother a sisters. We sounded so cool.... Keep Strummin' Al www.myspace.com/masonalvarezwww.aandrproductions.com

If there are any closet drummers I think they are keeping the doors locked. Hopefully Steve will be in Town for the next showcase. Q will have first grab at doing his songs.

I wasn't able to stay for the performances, but I was able to stream Gary Horrell's video in my office...very cool. Kudos to Andy for his excellent presentation on home studios. Very enlightening...looks like I need to find a home for the rowing machine and stepper that are collecting dust and adding to the asymmetry in my little man cave/home studio. Thanks, Andy! Gary also did his first live performance. Very impressive! It was also great to hear new comers Louie & Carli. They did a duet that will stay with me for a long time. Very beautiful ballad!
