The July showcase at the whistle stop grill will be on Sunday July 13th. 1pm-? It is warm but with the roof and the fans it is not unbearable. Reasonably comfortable for out side in the Florida summer. www.whistlestopgrill.com

It will be good to see & hear all of you! Two more showcases and the weather should start cooling down a bit. One more and the kids will be back in school. The point is I am hoping to see more familiar and new faces at the future showcases.

Hi Jerry, I signed up. I will most likely see you at Whistle Stop Sunday. I'll bring my guitar in case there is a spot for me to share a song or two.

We might be able to make it. Not sure. Trying to wrap up a couple of things. Spare time is at a premium this time of year.

I love open mics. Always something new to see and learn. I think as some musicians become more "Professional" they have a tendency to forget the importance of open mics with regards to performance improvement, but most of all the importance of friendships and camardery that is formed at these events. I call those who attend our Friday Night Open Mic at NOLA Cafe, "Friday Friends". I go regularly to Tre Amici. Why? Because over the past year I must have heard and met well over 75 Musicians. (I can't remember their names but they remember mine ). I have gone to over 75 open mics myself in the past year. My performance has improved as I am told, but the important thing is that I have come to know many musicians and have enjoyed and learned from their music and they have enjoyed and learned from mine. I hope Tampa Bay JPFers can understand this and can find the time to make this coming Showcase standing room only. With the number of musicians involved in Tampa Bay JPF we should be able to pack the Showcase. Our involment in the Showcase is important to the health of the local Music scene which is important to all of us. No one should feel above it. Never did I suspect that I would find friends with common interests at this stage of my life. I am grateful for these friendships and the few hours of camaradery that I get to spend with them. Yes I have another life, but this part of my life has given me a depth of satisfaction that few ever realize. Remember how important these strings that we tie to others are. papos

Steve and Leigh always do a great job at hosting and this was no exception. The whole event had the theme of good wishes for Chris and also Mike Worrall's grandson who is in the hospital.
A much better turnout numbers-wise compared to last month. And the talent was exceptional. Those present were treated to the beautiful voice of our newcomer, Chye' whom the rest of you must hear soon. Welcome.
One of the patrons asked when we were meeting (playing) again. I asked if he was a songwriter. No, he's not. He just wanted to come next month and listen! So much for driving normal people away.
Thanks to Andy for the ride and to Mike Worrall for his fine guitar work when he sat in with me on "Big Joe and Phantom 309."
I look forward to August's meeting.

I'm glad I got to make it out. Listening to all of the performances made for a pleasant afternoon. Steve and Leigh do a fine job, and whether you're listening or performing the Bose system always sounds great. It's cool that Jerry got to spend the day with his mother. These hours are precious. Hope to be back in August... Mike http://www.myspace.com/mikeworrallhttp://www.myspace.com/threeoldguys

Ms.Goody; I am actually doing very well considering. It is an honor and a pleasure to be able to take care of mom during her last remaining time here on earth. From the very first JPF Tamp Bay Chapter meeting/showcase that I attended I knew that the folks here were very special. Al Alvarez started this chapter with the "we are a family" thought and vibe that continues to this day. I want to thank all of you for your very kind thoughts and for making my mom's life so much better. She loved the music and the people that made it as much as I do. Even on the days when she didn't feel so good, going to a showcase warmed her heart and her spirit. Thanks for enriching mom's life and mine!

Jerry, we missed you yesterday and are thinking of you through this difficult and precious time - our prayers are with you and your Mom.
