I was just wondering if we have any information on Pineyfest 2008 yet.

Well...about all I can give you at the moment are the dates...and those are subject to change due to the lack of a secured venue yet. We are currently "expecting" to hold Pineyfest, August 6-8, which means that the Demo Derby will "probably" be August 5 & 6 during the day. That is all pending locking in the venue. Mike and I are looking into several options, however. I am not booking the presenters until I have the location nailed down.

But it is looking like we will have a website this year. Have had two volunteers to do one for us. That is a huge step forward.

I appreciate you asking. Several folks have been e-ing me about it.

I tried to PM this to you but you are over your limit, LOL

I had hoped to piggy back a get together onto Pineyfest. My house in Joelton will be available for a Piney Picnic. I will be able to provide a place to play music and party, rain or shine. What I am not sure about is dates.
Plenty of parking also.
I hope to be able to record Live rough tracks of festers just Jammin' and having a good time.

It would be nice to know the Pineyfest Dates pretty soon so we can coordinate Sylvia's time off from work.

I do not want this to interfere with Pineyfest though.
Pineyfest will be Wed, Thurs, Fri. I would have the picnic on Saturday.
Or I can do a poll and see what day most folks could make it.
The other option would be to have it on Tuesday. folks could leave from there to do their Piney Demos or come after they do their demo.

Of course this all depends on where the Demos will be done and where Pineyfest is held.
My House in Joelton is about twenty minutes from Broadway and I-65

If you have not found a venue, I was in Richards Cafe last week. It is big enough and has a sound system. It is in Whites Creek.

It is only about 15 minutes from Down town Nashville.
I don't know if it would work for you or not, just a suggestion. If you are interested I can stop in and talk to the owner.

I think there is a large Hotel a few minutes away at Old Hickory and I-24....OK it's a Super 8

It may depend on when we take my daughter to college. (deep breath - not ready for that!!) And a few other variables, as Beth says, the bake sale cookies...

If Helen is going, then I'm going too!!!!!! She and I can be your biggest cheerleaders! I may be performing for a charity event in Nashville around the same time as Pineyfest, so I am going to work it out if at all possible!!! It sure would be a kick to meet all of the JPF-ers! I hope we don't have anymore undergarment casualties this year, though!

Yeah...it just gets better every year. Mike and I are working on the location...but we already have an invite back to use the same studio for the Demo Derby so that is a lock.

Hey Bill,

I know Richard...who owns Richard's Cafe. You may not believe this...but he was AT Pineyfest last year...just to listen. Tall guy...pronounces his name REE SHARD'. I think he is Cajun. Did talk with Mike about possibly going up there to check it out soon. He would probably be supportive since he is really into songwriting himself. Also know that the owner of Douglas Corner is a good friend of a friend (he is married to Jennifer O'Neil).

My biggest issue is cost. Lyrix did not charge us anything because they made enough off the meals and drinks to let us be there. These other venues may charge us...and I am really trying to keep the cost to participants down so folks can afford to come. Of course you all can help by recruiting more folks to participate. Spreading the costs helps a lot. I do pay Barbara (our sound person) and give honorariums to our presenters...so I have to keep those costs covered. If the venue charges us a major fee...that is going to hurt. The Demo Derby covers itself with separate fees.

The Demo Derby recordings will be done at the same studio...so it will be on the north side of Nashville. Joelton is not out of range...BUT...the biggest issue is with attracting speakers. Having Pineyfest IN Nashville makes a lot of difference if someone can slip over to our location without having to drive an hour.

What's this about me being over my limit??? What limit??? I am still getting PMs...so not sure what that is all about. Will have to ask Brian...but I didn't see anything that indicates there is a limit on PM's. Hmmmm Did anyone say something about talking too much??? LOL

I like your idea of the picnic. You may not have been at the first one...but that was where the whole idea started. Dawg and I were just going to have a big picnic and invite everyone who was interested.

I have a couple of appointments coming up that could impact on what we do. Not at liberty to go into details until I see if it will happen...but could be a big leap for Festing.

Well..lemme put it this way...you BETTER come! If it means somebody has to come pick you up and carry you down, we want you HERE!! LOL We will make sure it is "accessible" and I will personally make sure there are no loose tiles, no loose carpet edges, etc. Will that help??? I will also alert the closest emergency room to post extra personnel just in case. We are eagerly anticipatin' your participatin'. LOL

Howdy Ms Linda!!

I well remember some INCREDIBLE cookies that came from somewhere out West in time for entertaining the troops at the Demo Derby!! Lemme tellya...those boys can EAT!! Mike appreciated the special rolls you sent him. But you know...cookies are one thing...but having you WITH us is what we really hope for!! I DO hope you will be able to work out details to enable you to join us this year.

First child off to college has to be traumatic. I will pray for you to have the fortitude to deal with that. Suffice it to say...you have raised her right. Now is the chance for her to show you that.

Oh man, Alan...there won't be a dry eye in the house if Ms Helen shows up!!! I can guarantee you that my friend!! I miss her so much...and just having her with us would be the BEST kind of medicine for all concerned. I will be sure to provide the kleenex!!! You know...this place is far more than just a music site..it is a world wide "family of choice". Sort of like Boo put it...a Patchwork Family..who love and support each other in all ways.

I can't make any promises on those ummm...casualties. Ya just have to trust some of these folks and then hope. But when you get Billvis, Alan and Joe in the same place at the same time...all bets are off.

Can make you one promise, however. If you CAN make it during Pineyfest...you will NOT have a bad time. LOL That is a guarantee!! And knowing you...you'd be in the midst of it all, carryin' on with all the carryin' on-ers. Just don't get me almost sent to jail like the last time ok?? LOL

Sure Joe..I can see it all now...UNDERWEAR AND A SPARE. We can do our own clothing drive and contribute the spares to one of the missions in town. How's that? At least if someone DOES have an underwear "casualty" as has been known to happen in the past...we will...uh..."have you covered" so to speak!!

Waaalll...we are up to Piney Seven this year!! Can you imagine??? We are totally a non-discriminatory Fest...we EVEN allow Angelinos to 'invade', I mean participate! You need to work on Ms Em too. I think maybe she had enough the first time. LOL We mebbe weren't 'slick' enuff fer that LA crowd. LOL We're just homey and humble (I said HOMEY...not HOMELY..LOL)You wouldn't 'wreckognize' us these days. Just ask Bob Cushing.

If you find a cheap fare...let Em know!! I just spotted one for $123 rt..but it wasn't for the right dates. Durn. That'd be a DEAL!!!

Just checking out plane fares to Nashville in August .. wondered if we had decided on this year's Pineyfest dates? Tomorrow?!!?!? I'll be there!

I am just sending out a possibility here, so don't get all upset.....

The hill behind Centennial Park where my lovely drum circle is held on Sunday afternoons would be deserted and wide open at any other time....of course this does depend entirely upon the weather....

It's a a great space for picnics and acoustic music, since there are no electrical outlets to plug into....but for a drum circle it works perfectly, so why not a musical gathering from another origin?

WAAAAAAH! I really want to come! I have to turn in my handicapped parking placard tomorrow, now that the majority of the ice and snow is gone...so what ELSE do I have to look forward to??

I may have hit a snag in coming.

I have a BEST friend (since highschool) in CA who has been battling stomach cancer for several years now - right now, the chemo pills are keeping it at bay, but there's no guarantee when they'll stop working (which eventually happens). Anyway, she's invited me to come to Prince Edward Island with her this summer for a week... so as much as I LOVE YOU GUYS... this trip takes a huge precedence. I haven't been able to see her in a really long time.

I'll be at Pineyfest if my finances hold together enough to manage two trips! (Actually, three... my daughter may or may not be heading off to college in the fall, too! She's still undecided about where - she missed being accepted to her #1 choice and doesn't want to think about #2, #3, etc. so she may wrap up her AA here instead - but if she leaves after all, that bumps Pineyfest to #3!)

The PE Island trip's gonna cost a bucketload of plane fare though... so, wish me luck. I so very much want to meet all of you in person. Pray for the airlines to hold sales to all the places I'll need to go this summer. LOL.

But spending a week with her at this point in our lives - priceless. Pineyfest we have every year. My friend, we just don't really know. She has two little boys, so we're all hoping she has some time left.

OK I'm going to stop thinking about that now and try not to hobble off and eat a donut or something. ~sigh~
