Hello, Folks. Long time no been around. But this isn't about me... I'm kind of stepping out of school here (with all the appropriate hallway passes though, be assured) and putting up for public viewing, listening and commentary a little something created by My Sweet Erica's daughter, Emily. Emily wrote the lyric last year, and Erica had Brett Bingham arrange some music and a vocalist for it. I'm pretty darn amazed by it (and proud!), and I wanted the rest of the world to hear it, too. Something to remember when you're reading and listening...she wrote this when she was 11 years old. Kinda proves the old adage about how far apples fall from the tree, I think. Think High School Musical. Or maybe, Junior High Musical. Thanks for the listen, Brenda, and you, too, Kaley. If you have the ear of any 9 to 13 year olds, give them a listen and see if we can get a groundswell going for this one!

Hi Michael, Erica and Emily!!
VERY VERY nice!! Outstanding lyric, Emily...very insightful...and Brett did a terrific job on the music. Michael, thank you so much for sharing this with us. Emily is extremely talented. Good to know she has a Mom who will nurture her talent in all the best ways!
Hugs to all.... Bobbie

Wow Michael, thanks for sharing. Erica, ya dun good in Emily, and Emily, this deserves radio play. It's "pop through and through", and speaks to a generation...
with applicable kudos to the production team

Michael,
Hey, that's very nice. Especially for someone of those tender years. I think songwriting must run in the blood. My wife Judi has traced songwriters back along my blood line for several generations. Both my sons had written their first songs before they were out of grade school. Nathan wrote his first lyric to an existing melody before he learned to read and write. My Grandma, a great uncle, and two cousins all were song writers--again all in a single blood line.
Back several generations I had a streak of ancestors who got the bright idea that they all ought to write their own immortal "deathbed masterpiece". Some of those lyrics Judi found posted on the internet. Plainly, the blood was not circulating freely to the brain during those deathbed efforts. They were horrendous. I've made her promise that she won't let me try something like that should I be gasping my last and have my accompanying muse make me twitch.
So there can be songwriting on both ends of the age spectrum.
I like the one you've posted here. My compliments to your talented younger family member.
Keep writing.
Skip

Yeah, Wyman, I think so,too...WAY good. If we knew what to do with it, where to take it, we would. Erica's connections aren't typically in this market, so it sort of languishes on our hard drives!
And you're right on the other count...when I think about what I wrote at her age, then look at this, well...I can't hardly imagine the heights she could reach it she put her nose to it.
Thanks for the listen!

Like I said, Bobbie....apples and trees. And in this case, right there at the edge of the trunk. We all know how talented Erica is! Speaking of....I saw in your post you haven't been writing much. Get on it, woman! Don't let that talent wither! Thanks for the listen and comment.

Hi Michael
I liked the song and think it is well done. Pretty impressive for an 11 year old. Best of luck to her and her career. : ) jm

More thanks are in order before I head out for the evening.
John - The first time I heard this, it was "wow" with me, too. It still gives me a bit of a chill when there's time between listenings. I'm in LA this week, maybe I should hang out at some hot spots and pass out free CDs? Nah, probably not the best marketing plan. Thanks for listening.

Ay, Mr Wolv, I agree with you. And of course, since she is 11 (well, 12 now, since last weekend's birthday party, but that's another story) she does too, and works to remind me as frequently as possible. But I encourage that, too, so what can I say? Thanks for acknowledging her good works.

Thanks, Skip, Kim and Joice! Now the challenge is to keep her interested and writing. Leading by example would probably be a good start.
