Hi Folks,

The last 7 hours I:

Spent 2 hours on the phone with the founder of Pandora talking about Internet Radio

Spent 2 hours answering emails from Roadtrip folks

Spent 3 hours listening to the Top 20 AI finalists (recognizing a few people along the way) and evaluating them for an educational discussion on them for the message boards.

I started working this morning with over 5 hours answering emails as well as an hour of prep for my phone call and another 2 hours on the phone with other industry folks on other topics.

I also spent 30 minutes with our lawn care guys showing them what we wanted done with the gutters and flower beds and yard.. and another 30 minutes on line looking at Fruit trees we might want to plant. I spent 45 minutes watching American Idol from LAST night and about 15 minutes eating cold spaghetti and meatballs out of a can. Yum.

That's about a 16 hour day.. and I spent 2 hours last night on the phone talking to a chapter coordinator. Nothing like the glitzy glamorous life in the music industry!

How was YOUR day?

Brian

Hi Brian

Okey here is mine 5 times a week.

2 hours traveling to my place of work and 2 hours going home while listening to newly released album uploaded in my palm. SOmetimes reads the newspaper when I dont feel listening.

1 hour to feed my dogs and walk them and do some house chores.

3-4 hours hanging in JPF, surfing the net, while reading my mail and aswering them.

3 hours in making demo and writing new songs.

4-5 hours as a medical doctor talking to 30-50 patient a day. (This will replace later with my publishing company when we hit the stores in the few months)

So all in all 15-16 hours a day. So the extra time-for my wife and my kids.

I'm not doing much these days as I'm at home recovering from recent surgery. Ireland is not known for its great weather but it has been beautifully warm and sunny every day for these past few weeks, so I guess global warming has some upsides!

I've got time now to catch up on some projects and commitments so I've spent a good part of the last few days writing and making this website for a charitable venture I'm involved with in India - have a look! http://sania.cfsites.org I chose the name Sania Trust for this program in memory of a little girl whose heart breaking story is told on the site.

Back to the 9 to 5, starting a week from next Monday!

Hey Gerry,

What is that in your signature? Is it some type of advertisement? If so it has to go. Sorry.

Lynman,

I had not idea you were a doctor! And you're going to give it up to become a publisher?

Here's a breakdown of my Wednesday...

Morning run roughly 5 miles. Approx: 35 mins.

Breakfast.

Myspace/JPF - 1 hour. Dealing with comments and friend request stuff.
Phone - Dealing with stuff for music.
Writing and demoing a new song 3 hours.
Lunch
More phone time.
checking in on JPF boards.
Take laptop in to replace broken keyboard from dropping something on it. (duh).
Work more on several other song demos.
Dinner.
Practice.
Make popcorn and watch a movie.
Write Single of the Day for Thursday.
Bed.

That's been my current days of late whilst I'm waiting on some business things that are in the works. My next CD will likely have a selection of at least 40 songs to chose from when it's all said and done. It will be the first time I've put that many songs together for a disc. So it should be damn strong when it gets whittled down to 10 or 12.

Tomorrow (meaning today) is similar only I'll be putting in a 3 hour co-writing session for other people on another project.

in the last 24 hours I've:

(yesterday)
checked emails, spent time on 4 songwriting boards
rehearsed with my trio (1.5 hours)
went downtown, had my weekly lunch with mom
stood in line at the bank to deposit some money
went to the library
stood in line at my landlord's bank to deposit the rent
came home, checked emails, spent time on 4 songwriting boards
had a 20 min cat nap
taught 4 students (total: 4 hrs)
made dinner, watched my tape of Tuesday's AI
watched the results show
checked emails, spent time on 4 songwriting boards
worked on two instrumentals
drank my TCM tea
checked emails, spent time on 4 songwriting boards
emailed Taxi as I got a forward but didn't get the co name
emailed Socan for my CAE number (I cleaned up & can't find my password to get on-line)
went to bed (sleep - 7 hours)

(today)
got up, cleaned the kitchen, made coffee
checked emails, spent time on 4 songwriting boards
taught 3 students (3 hours)
checked emails, spent time on 4 songwriting boards
called Socan - they are in a meeting til tomorrow (?)
now I'm gonna have lunch
then work on my instrumentals
then teach 3 more hours
then make dinner, work on music...
hmmmm is there a pattern here? smile

Hi Brian...it's absolutey not an ad, just a link to my blog which relates to the goings on at Shantidhara in India, a project I'm very involved in and passionate about. The blog does not advertise, solicit donations or anything else....just provides news updates of a worthy endeavor to educate poor children. That said, it is not about music in any way and I'm completely okay with having it removed if you think its 'off topic' nature makes it unsuitable.

Yup. I already have a one patient here in JPF, Stan. I was supposed to pursue residency in internal medicine but I got this curiosity in this industry and after 3 years cracking the music industry code which is similar to my work like the patent and the drug development I decided to start my business and help some struggling artist here in our country.

ACtually music is my first love but I got lucky with my father who is a US navy and we recieve a scholarship from veterans administration so I decided to maximize the full potential of my benefits.

Uhhhh... last 24.. hmmm.

woke up
first 2 hours: checked email, read the news and did my usual online circuit, and tried to wake up

Then: Took my elderly father in law to the library for our weekly DVD check out. Our library has a good DVD collection and they allow 3 DVDs out for a week per person. He doesn't get around well anymore, so he enjoys movies.

My Mom called: talked 2 hours (lol) - she just had cataract surgery so she needed to catch me up

The rest of the day til midnight, I worked on a CD Design for a fellow JPFer and a website for a theater company I work with with a short interruption to make and eat an eggplant sub and take a phone call from a friend in NYC who's getting married and needed to chat.

I spent an hour with my hubby (who got home frm the studio at about 11:30) before going to bed.

Today, my hubby unexpectedly got a day off, so we're going to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary a couple of days early. Going to dinner and catching a movie - maybe Spiderman 3. It opens today, so it could be too crazy a Friday night scene to actually do...but we'll see.

My weekend is all about finishing up a couple of design projects.

Peace,
Christine

Hey Brian,
Just wanted to stop by and say how much I love the new (to Me) format of the forum.

16 hours! You definatly don't get paid enough (monitarily)!

I saw your post on working nights... Decided not to reply. I've worked nights for over 14 years now, and am just about done with that.

Typical day……

Rise about 6:15 am, get ready for work.
7:00 am, drive daughter to school.
7:20, hit the gym for a workout.
To work by 8:30 am (I’m an advertising writer/producer)

During my 8:30 to 5:00 pm work day, I manage to answer e-mails (lately, a lot are JPF Road Trip related, and other gig-related), make my rounds of various forums (during breaks from the ad writing), and get a whole lotta work done.

Lunchtime, I will either usually work on some new song or practice my guitar in my office.

Once home about 5:45 or so, I’ll eat the dinner my wonderful wife has prepared, and start looking around for stuff that needs doing…..might be school work with the kids, ferrying someone somewhere or some household project. If there’s a Red Wings game on, especially the playoff games (like now!), I’m there. If not, I’ll pick something on the to-do list in prep for my daughter’s HS graduation open house.

I end up doing most of my songwriting in the car on my way to or from work. I take a pocket recorder and transcribe stuff later.

Hi Brian
When you decide to tour asia in the next 2-3 years and happen to include our country we are 3 doctors here in our local songwriters associations. YOu and the JPF folks are properly taking care of by us.
